I put it on around 7:30am ( 7-10 sprays) . walked into work around 830-9. compliments right away. Damn you smell good. Im like ok good good ( 2 hours into work) Then about 5 hours in ( around 12-1230) . My nurse went into my office. She said I smelled like an old white man aftershave. something her grand-dad would put on. The dry down is musk/woody. HE IS NOT LYING. At best this is FOR date night 2 hours at dinner MAX. I just subscribed......... ill be watching your video FIRST then the rest. I HOPE whoever is watching this pays attention to what he is describing with the DRY DOWN. Its pungent and musky/woody. INSANE!!!!! wtf. Hes right THIS IS NOT AN ALL DAY SCENT ( 2 -3 hours it is incredible. but for $300-400 to smell like old spice musk/after shave. F no.)
I agree with you that Layton isn't the most unique niche fragrance out there, but for me it just works and I'm really not that guy who buys into every single hyped fragrance. Compared to other fragrances that go in a very similar direction, Layton just has this little bit extra that always puts me in a good mood when I smell it.And to me that's exactly what people should look for when they spend that much money on expensive niche fragrances. If they just smell good to you, save the money, because there are countless good fragrances that cost a lot less out there, but if a fragrance smells absolutely divine to you and you can afford it, go for it, because then it's absolutely worth it.
This is absolutely 100% the best and most truthful review of this fragrance. I got a 10ml decant of it and I got the same funk in the dry down. People, I know I'm just another random dude on the internet, but trust me. . .And trust this man. This is the only honest review that is actually true that I've found on TH-cam.

All I could smell was lavender with Ambery/floral middle and the same dry down you get in Carlisle (in the deep deep dry down) I was disappointed- no cardamom. Oajan is delicious! Carlisle is super sexy! Herod was fruitier than I thought it would be. Habdan smells like chamomile tea😂
I got a sample of Layton Exclusif after hearing all the hype around Layon (and the house in general), and I think I agree with you: to me, Layton Exclusif wasn't bad, but it felt very clubby, kinda boring. I'm not sure why it's being hyped so much in niche circles. Out of curiosity, have you tried any of their other scents? I was curious to try Carisle and Herod - I've heard good things about the latter (but clearly, we've all heard great things about Layton, so who knows?).
This is a very on point review. I blind bought the 4.2 bottle.. I don't have buyers remorse because it's good. Not bad but not worth the full retail price I luckily got it for 230 on fall sale.
Got my wife's opinion on several PDM. She likes some of them, but head to head against designers she chooses the designers. For example she will choose La Nuit and Most Wanted over Layton. Not that they are the same, just similar styles. I can get those designers cheaper. She chose Moira over Herod in a blind head to head several times. Moira is a dupe of Herod. She'll choose any of the ADG line over Sedley, Greenley, Galloway, and Percival. It just isn't worth it. When PDM is 40% off on a discounter site, and I can still get a 6.7 oz Profondo for the same price as a 2.5 PDM and Profondo stays in the air way longer and smells a little better. They are just priced too high. $100 for 2.5 oz and I could get on the hype train. Usually it is twice that.
It’s not musk it’s the wood that’s in all pdm . I actually like it. It’s the apple I don’t like. It’s waaaay too strong. I wish it wore down after 45 minutes it took like 2 hours for me and then it bacame amazing. I’ll try wearing it a few more times
I had the opportunity to smell every parfums de marly fragrances and honestly there are very unique ones, but these are not very compliment getters. The ones that will get you the most compliments are percival, sedley, greenley and layton. No suprises since these are very similar to popular designer fragrances, the only reedeming factor is that they are all long lasting in each of their category.
I live in Florida and its humid as hell. Got a sample of this and wore it out way too thick and heavy like a grandma 👵🏼 perfume. Probably in colder weather it might smell pleasant. Percival and Godolphin are hitters tho
Hi there, im curious about this one. Is Layton close to or way sweeter than Ultra Male? I have Ultra Male, and never reach for it much, too potent for me imo. Thanks & i dig your honest frag review btw subbed
Yee Saurus thank you I appreciate the sub. Layton is very similar to ultra male. Ultra male has the pear, Layton has the apple. The whole sweetness dna of it is similar enough to where you wouldn’t need both. They both have that sweet vanilla-tonka base beyond the loud fruit notes. I wouldn’t buy Layton based off what you have told me but you can always get a sample and see for yourself
@@scentscavenger3206 well i have the ultra male and i have layton. they are a like 10 sec the same and than both are going an other way. layton is for me by far one of the best fregrances i have owned. i have amouage reflection ( it is okay, nothing very special), i have ultra male, layton, herod, and green irish tweed. from all my parfumes the only ones i love are layton and green irish tweed. do not forget that PDM is 125ml so if it was a 100 ml bottle it would cost around the 180 euro. that is amazing value for money.
I agree that vanilla male fragrances are overdone these days but it's tiers better than other cloying vanilla fragrances like Eros and Ultra Male. I was very skeptical of Layton but the first time I smelled it I fell in love. But yeah, still way too expensive.
The only weird thing is you that can't stay 5 minutes without drinking the coffee to make the video! Get yourself a proper bottle instead of the shity sample that you got from some dodgy site. Layton is amazing! You need to have a niche nose to smell the quality of the ingredients. Because it smells like some other cheaper fragrances? Cool water also smells like the green irish tweed but for someone that knows best, a snif of creed and you can understand the dept of the fragrance and how much more long lasting it is. In the end its your taste and this fragrance is not for peasants 😜

Yea I don’t like Layton. I really thought I would like it a lot more. The only thing I can smell is tonka (sweet powdery cake smell)
