Catching MASSIVE crayfish with Tim

  • On my second crayfishing trip of the season my friend Tim and I caught some truly massive crayfish. We had a great crayfishing trip catching plenty of crays. We caught undersize crays, legal sized crays and some massive oversized crayfish. I love catching these huge crays. Even though they are protected by a number of laws, they are still amazing to just admire. Beautiful big old crayfish.
For US viewers, these are Spiny Murray Crayfish and they are the second largest freshwater crayfish in the world. They are much different to your crawfish, or crawdads. Our yabbies are much more like crawfish.

So. little bit of trivia for ya. American lobsterman have similar regs about oversize undersize lobsters. When they bring a female with eggs up, they notch their tails to make them more easily identifiable if you catch them without eggs.

Hi Robert, that is a great idea to ensure the big female can breed again next season.
