That is the beauty of snowboarding! I truly truly truly am passionate about snowboarding due to the nature of being outside and constantly learning new things to use my brain. Riding switch is so weird because, as you said, you know what you are supposed to do, but can't do it. It's like learning to ride snowboard all over again! It really humbles you when you initially learn it. You improved so much Nyv! With that said, once you get comfortable riding switch, it opens up so many new doors you couldn't have imagined. 180s, 360s, stability of riding, parks, jumps, etc

Thank you! Yea its like trying to write the alphabet with your less dominant hand. Its like I know how to write but I'm writing like a 1st grader again. Those tricks and turns are probably a few seasons more but looking forward to keep learning new things! Enjoy your winter season!

Good progression! My advice is don’t worry about learning switch until you get advanced at boarding in your normal stance. Reason being is that if you don’t understand proper technique then that’ll only translate to your switch and you’re not going to get anywhere.

Great progress! I watched James cherry vid on carving and realized that facing your shoulders downhill is actually ok. I did his “hold the martini tray” technique and I’m carving seamlessly now

Yea it seems counter intuitive because Ive been told to keep my shoulder towards my turns but I guess carving is a whole specialized subset of techniques for snowboarding. I'm happy you get the carves now! It probably feels so cool. Ill get there one day! Enjoy your winter season!

For the lift, I found it helpful to rest the board on the toes of my foot that's not in the binding to take off some weight from the foot that's in the binding. Hope that makes sense!

@@InTuned182when you do that, place your foot under the back loop of the binding (where your heel goes.
If you but the board itself on top of your boot, you run the risk of shredding your shoe laces due to the edge. Putting your foot under the back loop of the binding has the same effect but doesn’t shred your boot over time.

This is so funny man - I watched your other two videos and I am also struggling to do that pencil thin carve and I also just watched the James Cherry video the other day and really studied what he was saying. Looks like we're going through exactly the same experience haha. I changed my bindings from 15 and -8 to posi posi to 24 and 6 and I will go out on the snow on Sunday - maybe too drastic of a change but I really want to force myself to do that forward facing carve that James is doing so perfectly. I'll let you know how it goes LOL. Appreciate you sharing your journey and progress - made ma order a insta360 the other day as well :D

I was at Mount Snow last weekend and it was my first time hitting the parks haha it was fun but very scary, even the low obstacles felt scary. It'll be on my next video though!

I rest the heel cup on my other foot when on the lift. Tried resting the board on my boot but I noticed that it’s cutting into the boot and ripped the toebox area

The steeper the terrain the more you need to “lean” down the mountain. I see a lot of times your board slids out from under your feet and doing those chattery scraping. That just means your weight is up the mtn and not down the mtn. Take it from this instructor th-cam.com/users/shorts_B0XJKNws00?si=8092_mUIn97P15He
Two things that helped me is to both look up the mtn on your toe turns and for heel turns lean the turn with the leg first and only turn your head and not chest. So just turn head and knee and let the chest follow. In both turns if it helps is to tuck your chin to your downhill shoulder to force a bit more weight down mtn. gl hf
edit: I managed to listen to more of your narration and you know all the concepts so sorry I tried to mansplain. regardless try my suggestions and lmk how you like it.

Thank you! And no worries man, sometimes I say something and not do it at all on the mountain, so it does help being reminded again. Enjoy your winter season man!
