In my opinion, the way Telltale handled the relationship between Batman and Joker was absolutely brilliant. But it was less about Batman and Joker, but more about Bruce and John. Joker always finds a way to push Batman to his limits and this was once again a brilliant way of showing it. Making us debate in our heads whether or not John was truly our friend. The music in the final fight scene displays this beautifully. The fast and slow music constantly clashing with one another, John and Joker fighting one another, going from Batman's greatest villain, to Bruce's greatest friend.

Kevin Yo tbh Rhys & Fiona didn't have a very interesting chemistry between them. If we are talking about the best character relationship in TftB, then it's hands down Rhys & Handsome Jack. But as far as all telltale games go, then it's definitely Lee & Clementine for me.

I think I may have found my favourite Joker, Telltale has managed to weave the comedic and dark sides of The Joker seamlessly. For the first time, I felt emotional fighting Joker and having him and Bruce interact. Well done to Telltale and well done to Antony Ingruber.

He has dark tendencies but tries to be good and there is still a chance he can be redeemed and be Bruce’s best friend again. Bruce and John are totally a ship they love each other and can’t be without each other. No other joker has the emotional connection like this one and he tries to be good.

That honestly is one of my favorite lines ever. Joker has a chance of sanity after all these years of fighting and mental torture, but he's scared that as soon as he gives out his trust. Batman will abandon him when he's almost there leaving him to die. It's truly heart breaking...

Knowing him from that upbeat guy and see his slow downfall into the horrible Joker persona, and what it's worse, knowing that, deep down, it's your fault that John ended up becoming this...

I've just thought of how sad it would be if The Killing Joke happened in the Telltale Batman universe. Batman saying that if they don't stop their rivalry one of them will end up killing the other would hit harder knowing that in this continuity they were once friends and knowing that this Joker is a tragic, sympathetic character who is truly insane unlike most versions of Joker where he's a sadistic, evil man faking insanity to avoid the death penalty. Bruce and John / Joker in this version remind me of Clark Kent and Lex Luthor in Smallville. Best friends who became the worst of enemies.
Looking to the Dark Knight returns comic with the final fight in the tunnel of love, between the two. Joker takes his own life to prove a point. I feel that this interpretation of the characters would fit in so well with this theme but one thing is for certain, this new take on the characters is so refreshing and different that it shows how much potential it has to offer. Can't wait for season 3
Monocle Sphere Yeah I think this provides a good reason why Batman and Joker play their games, and why batman continues to let joker do it, now it's not just a hero-villain connection, they have a personal history and know each other well, which makes it a lot deeper when they have to fight, I almost expected Joker to cry a little and then form his frown back in to a laugh to show how depressed he was but covered it up with the laughing, it would show how sad he really is deep down, but can't control it anymore.
Take no SH*T During the Vigilante fight, when Bruce Stuck the Batarang through Joker’s Hand or Shocked Him, I thought he was laughing and then slowly started to cry

This is a beautiful ending, but I found the vigilante ending so much more dramatic Like when joker got blood all over his face and started laughing like he never did before it was a little scary, and the stupid batman makeup actually helped the moment and looked scarier with the blood Or that time batman and joker were throwing batarangs at each other, it remembered me of that time John was my #1 fan and how he asked to teach him throwing the batarang and how he saved me from bane with a batarang and now he s throwing them at me Made me sob(
I was hoping for you to be wearing the Batsuit during this fight, but this season focused more on the internal conflict of Bruce and of course John/Joker so it made sense and made the fight even more intense and emotional. Bruce thought he beat John to death and got upset as if it were Gordon or Alfred. Joker realizing he actually "loves" Bruce, he won't kill him, but will still enjoy sticking a knife in his gut. Amazingly unique take on their story & relationship by telltale, who always delivers 10/10 storyline. I applaud TT, I applaud "We had some good times, didn't we Bruce?"
Well, this is because Bruce was the one that created Villain Joker, that's why they fight, in the Vigilante path, it's Batman, fighting Vigilante Joker, cuz you know, John Doe admired and wanted to become a hero, though in the end he discovers he wasn't made for that
Aye, it's a great take on the character, they gave for the Joker fans, a great Joker...and also something they created themselves...I like this new take on Telltale games...I only hope that the next ones will be as good as this, like the season 2 of the wolf among us
Ryan Arget the vigilante joker's fight is way more intense and epic and you actually fight joker as Batman. Also vigilante joker ended looking way more crazy and brutal than the villain one, he almost destroyed the GCPD and brutally killed three agents with a knife and would have also killed waller and Tiffany if it wasn't for Batman. Villain joker just wanted to play with Bruce and make him suffer like he suffered when Bruce chose not to trust him to arrest Harley instead. Not to mention how in the villain's pathe they made Batman being easily defeated and kidnapped from Joker's thugs just so we could play as Bruce the rest of the episode while in the vigilante's path he fought the agency, Bane, Harley, Catwoman, fell from a building injuring three ribs and a leg, got impaled, had to take tons of pain killers and was still able to defeat the joker. Also in the villain's path they treated Gordon pretty badly too, letting him betray Batman to know the bombs locations and being able to disable them alone off screen even if shot in the legs and not appearing anymore till the end, and joker just guessing that Tiffany killed riddler was also lame in the villain's path... Villain's path seemed so rushed and unfinished. That's why I think that vigilante' path > villain's path. Telltale clearly put more effort to make vigilante's path which ended up looking better on almost every aspect of the story.

THE BEST RELATIONSHIP EVER IN HISTORY, HANDS DOWN IS JOKER AND BATMAN. It's a twisted rollarcoaster and I cried at this ending bc you know Bruce tried to help John but John can't help but be Joker. And no matter what Joker would never kill Bruce he even showed it in the dinner table. Trying to buy some time and telling Harley to not kill them. He knows he'll be nothing without Bruce.
"You neeeeed me, i'm the villain of your drEaMs" I just realised he wants to be Bruce's Villain because John will still have someone even if he can't be their friend. My favourite quote from him because its so true tho. And the song is so fooking emotional. I prefer this than the vigilante.
“All it takes is one bad day” - joker, the killing joke. This sort of works with this because Bruce made a bad decision not to trust john in the funhouse or on the bridge which led him to become his “best” enemy.
While I personally beleive that the vigilante ep is so much better, this one song and the scene along with it about made me sob "You broke my heart John"

I loved the new take on the Joker-Batman relationship it’s much more personal meaning the Joker knows Bruce is Batman which makes him much more dangerous since he can now literally take anyone away from Bruce who he gets close to

I feel like Tiffany is being set up as a possible Batgirl, she definitely has a lot of shades of Oracle already in her. My guess is if Tiffany is locked up/fugitive/agency lapdog, then season 3 will let you make Barbara into batgirl instead. That said, I also feel like Dick Grayson is coming up soon too if that turns out to be true, especially with the emphasis on “this hurts the people closest to us” that season 2’s finale has.
I'm thinking that tiffany is this universes spoiler who is mentored by batman and like yeah i'm hoping that dick shows up next season (they should probably make him nightwing right away tho)
Villain ending feels so tragic and depressing, Vigilante's ending on the other hand can either be a classic Batman defeats Joker type of ending if you pick "we were never friends, you're a criminal" or something completely new as if Batman has still hopes that Joker can be cured if you pick "Of course we were friends".

I love that it's just an altered version of "Bruce's angst" as if all of Batman's worst fears and feelings are tied to the Joker, of course those themes are tied because the Joker is someone Bruce can't escape from. Plus this was a nice full circle back to the end of episode one of season one. Beautifully done game imo.
John Doe has a lost soul which needs a promise keeping and a great helper, trustworthy friend, he has to share his problems with someone, and of course, there is batman for him.... he just needs batman's help, his partnership in his life.... John is the best character...
I know, to many people the Joker is only sympathetic, likely because of the insane side of him. But to me even with that in mind, he's more of an empathetic character, at least to me, John was always an incredibly honest person in this game about almost everything. He even owned up to killing those people in front of Bruce, now usually there's no reason to believe his self defence story, but anyone who's played this game knows how dumb Amanda Waller is with her agents, very impulsive and intimidating. Anybody would be scared with their slow and silent approach to situations, John never even killed anyone before that, it's true that we never saw what happened but you can leave a lot to interpretation, there's several different ways that could have played out. So I'm just guessing based on how honest John is throughout the whole game. But it shows the weight of trust, I'd hope that most people never feel how much betrayal actually hurts, but I do know how it feels. If not for the right people showing up when I needed them, if not for having two best friends prior to those experiences, I'd probably be a horrible person these days, I doubt I'd be on the level of the Joker, I probably wouldn't even kill people but I'd definitely be getting in a lot of trouble. The relationship I have with my family would fall apart, I'd have even less friend than I currently do which is crazy, and that deep hatred that I've risen above would be who I am. I've hated this place and the people I've met here since before I even arrived, my instincts were just telling me this place was trouble, I recently went to visit some family for a day in an area just outside of where I live, the difference was staggering, I felt alive, and I felt like everyone around me had some life to them too, not like here, everyone here either wears a mask or is just a load of evil bastards. A lot of them are just liars, I can live with that, but some of them are just blemishes on society, and I've had the unfortune of actually having to meet some of them. It astonishes me that I never go insane whenever that reality hits me, I really just need to get out of here, I understand that now, I understand that it really is just this place I hate that I have to live here, but some day I'll move the first chance I get. As someone who's been wrongly hated or betrayed by random people or friends throughout most their lifetime I can tell you that it's the single worst feeling ever, everyone here just seems to want to watch the World burn, I feel like I'm the only one who doesn't. Betrayal and lies are the sharpest knives in the drawer, if any of you use big lies in your lives just be careful with them, you could turn the World against you in a second, every lie gets uncovered whether you want it to or not, no matter how much you hide it the people you know will learn the truth, if it's an understandable lie they might become an even better friend, but if it's not then you'll have lost more than you gained.

I know almost everyone was gushing about the 'you broke my heart, john' prompt but I wondered why it was in this route instead of vigilante john's? to get villain route you had to push away john and not trust him at all so where is this sudden "heartbreak" coming from if bruce never trusted john but seeing him saving joker i guess part of it is genuine but i feel like it should've been in the vigilante route
You don't have to always be untrusting of him. The thing that pushes him over the edge is whether or not you believe him about the agents/if he figures out that you used him for your own benefit. You could've had a great relationship with John, but that one choice would affect which Joker you got.

valid point. i was very salty that villain route got the better part of development than vigilante route in my opinion. so i guess i sour graped it in that i thought bruce in villain route didn't care just cause he didn't trust john but i think its bruce with all the villains in the series. they were people bruce met and befriended and to see each one turn to the edge really must hurt more each time and realized that he took part in their downfall albeit indirectly and not on purpose.

John is literally the only version of Joker that I didnt want to become the Joker. It almost feels good when Arthur turns, but John turining hurts. Its amazing how his characterisation can make you feel like that.

One of the most tear-jerking moments in Batman's story. Having to fight John after everything you have been through. Knowing him from that upbeat guy and see his slow downfall into the horrible Joker persona, and what it's worse, knowing that, deep down, it's your fault that John ended up becoming this...

John died and all there was Joker I believe telltale purposely made it impossible to be friends with Joker because the only options are you can live the lie as friends or be what you guys were meant to be Enemies

What I love that Telltale has done is take the relationship between these two characters and created a more real connection between the two.
I've just thought of how sad it would be if The Killing Joke happened in the Telltale Batman universe. Batman saying that if they don't stop their rivalry one of them will end up killing the other would hit harder knowing that in this continuity they were once friends and knowing that this Joker is a tragic, sympathetic character who is truly insane unlike most versions of Joker where he's a sadistic, evil man faking insanity to avoid the death penalty. Bruce and John / Joker in this version remind me of Clark Kent and Lex Luthor in Smallville. Best friends who became the worst of enemies.
Looking to the Dark Knight returns comic with the final fight in the tunnel of love, between the two. Joker takes his own life to prove a point. I feel that this interpretation of the characters would fit in so well with this theme but one thing is for certain, this new take on the characters is so refreshing and different that it shows how much potential it has to offer. Can't wait for season 3
Monocle Sphere Yeah I think this provides a good reason why Batman and Joker play their games, and why batman continues to let joker do it, now it's not just a hero-villain connection, they have a personal history and know each other well, which makes it a lot deeper when they have to fight, I almost expected Joker to cry a little and then form his frown back in to a laugh to show how depressed he was but covered it up with the laughing, it would show how sad he really is deep down, but can't control it anymore.

This is a beautiful ending, but I found the vigilante ending so much more dramatic
Like when joker got blood all over his face and started laughing like he never did before it was a little scary, and the stupid batman makeup actually helped the moment and looked scarier with the blood

I was hoping for you to be wearing the Batsuit during this fight, but this season focused more on the internal conflict of Bruce and of course John/Joker so it made sense and made the fight even more intense and emotional. Bruce thought he beat John to death and got upset as if it were Gordon or Alfred. Joker realizing he actually "loves" Bruce, he won't kill him, but will still enjoy sticking a knife in his gut. Amazingly unique take on their story & relationship by telltale, who always delivers 10/10 storyline. I applaud TT, I applaud

Well, this is because Bruce was the one that created Villain Joker, that's why they fight, in the Vigilante path, it's Batman, fighting Vigilante Joker, cuz you know, John Doe admired and wanted to become a hero, though in the end he discovers he wasn't made for that

Ryan Arget the vigilante joker's fight is way more intense and epic and you actually fight joker as Batman. Also vigilante joker ended looking way more crazy and brutal than the villain one, he almost destroyed the GCPD and brutally killed three agents with a knife and would have also killed waller and Tiffany if it wasn't for Batman. Villain joker just wanted to play with Bruce and make him suffer like he suffered when Bruce chose not to trust him to arrest Harley instead. Not to mention how in the villain's pathe they made Batman being easily defeated and kidnapped from Joker's thugs just so we could play as Bruce the rest of the episode while in the vigilante's path he fought the agency, Bane, Harley, Catwoman, fell from a building injuring three ribs and a leg, got impaled, had to take tons of pain killers and was still able to defeat the joker. Also in the villain's path they treated Gordon pretty badly too, letting him betray Batman to know the bombs locations and being able to disable them alone off screen even if shot in the legs and not appearing anymore till the end, and joker just guessing that Tiffany killed riddler was also lame in the villain's path... Villain's path seemed so rushed and unfinished. That's why I think that vigilante' path > villain's path. Telltale clearly put more effort to make vigilante's path which ended up looking better on almost every aspect of the story.

This version of the joker is up there with heath ledger. I didn't like him at first but you really got to know him in season 2

THE BEST RELATIONSHIP EVER IN HISTORY, HANDS DOWN IS JOKER AND BATMAN. It's a twisted rollarcoaster and I cried at this ending bc you know Bruce tried to help John but John can't help but be Joker. And no matter what Joker would never kill Bruce he even showed it in the dinner table. Trying to buy some time and telling Harley to not kill them. He knows he'll be nothing without Bruce.

I feel like Tiffany is being set up as a possible Batgirl, she definitely has a lot of shades of Oracle already in her. My guess is if Tiffany is locked up/fugitive/agency lapdog, then season 3 will let you make Barbara into batgirl instead.
That said, I also feel like Dick Grayson is coming up soon too if that turns out to be true, especially with the emphasis on “this hurts the people closest to us” that season 2’s finale has.
I'm thinking that tiffany is this universes spoiler who is mentored by batman and like yeah i'm hoping that dick shows up next season (they should probably make him nightwing right away tho)

Villain ending feels so tragic and depressing, Vigilante's ending on the other hand can either be a classic Batman defeats Joker type of ending if you pick "we were never friends, you're a criminal" or something completely new as if Batman has still hopes that Joker can be cured if you pick "Of course we were friends".
That feeling when this most likely Telltale Batmans first and last battle with the Joker.

I love that it's just an altered version of "Bruce's angst" as if all of Batman's worst fears and feelings are tied to the Joker, of course those themes are tied because the Joker is someone Bruce can't escape from.
Plus this was a nice full circle back to the end of episode one of season one. Beautifully done game imo.
John Doe has a lost soul which needs a promise keeping and a great helper, trustworthy friend, he has to share his problems with someone, and of course, there is batman for him.... he just needs batman's help, his partnership in his life.... John is the best character...

I know, to many people the Joker is only sympathetic, likely because of the insane side of him.
But to me even with that in mind, he's more of an empathetic character, at least to me, John was always an incredibly honest person in this game about almost everything.
He even owned up to killing those people in front of Bruce, now usually there's no reason to believe his self defence story, but anyone who's played this game knows how dumb Amanda Waller is with her agents, very impulsive and intimidating.
Anybody would be scared with their slow and silent approach to situations, John never even killed anyone before that, it's true that we never saw what happened but you can leave a lot to interpretation, there's several different ways that could have played out.
So I'm just guessing based on how honest John is throughout the whole game.
But it shows the weight of trust, I'd hope that most people never feel how much betrayal actually hurts, but I do know how it feels.
If not for the right people showing up when I needed them, if not for having two best friends prior to those experiences, I'd probably be a horrible person these days, I doubt I'd be on the level of the Joker, I probably wouldn't even kill people but I'd definitely be getting in a lot of trouble.
The relationship I have with my family would fall apart, I'd have even less friend than I currently do which is crazy, and that deep hatred that I've risen above would be who I am.
I've hated this place and the people I've met here since before I even arrived, my instincts were just telling me this place was trouble, I recently went to visit some family for a day in an area just outside of where I live, the difference was staggering, I felt alive, and I felt like everyone around me had some life to them too, not like here, everyone here either wears a mask or is just a load of evil bastards.
A lot of them are just liars, I can live with that, but some of them are just blemishes on society, and I've had the unfortune of actually having to meet some of them.
It astonishes me that I never go insane whenever that reality hits me, I really just need to get out of here, I understand that now, I understand that it really is just this place I hate that I have to live here, but some day I'll move the first chance I get.
As someone who's been wrongly hated or betrayed by random people or friends throughout most their lifetime I can tell you that it's the single worst feeling ever, everyone here just seems to want to watch the World burn, I feel like I'm the only one who doesn't.
Betrayal and lies are the sharpest knives in the drawer, if any of you use big lies in your lives just be careful with them, you could turn the World against you in a second, every lie gets uncovered whether you want it to or not, no matter how much you hide it the people you know will learn the truth, if it's an understandable lie they might become an even better friend, but if it's not then you'll have lost more than you gained.

I know almost everyone was gushing about the 'you broke my heart, john' prompt but I wondered why it was in this route instead of vigilante john's? to get villain route you had to push away john and not trust him at all so where is this sudden "heartbreak" coming from if bruce never trusted john but seeing him saving joker i guess part of it is genuine but i feel like it should've been in the vigilante route
Well i played the villain route the exact same way until the point where he kills the agents so yeah
You don't have to always be untrusting of him. The thing that pushes him over the edge is whether or not you believe him about the agents/if he figures out that you used him for your own benefit. You could've had a great relationship with John, but that one choice would affect which Joker you got.

valid point. i was very salty that villain route got the better part of development than vigilante route in my opinion. so i guess i sour graped it in that i thought bruce in villain route didn't care just cause he didn't trust john but i think its bruce with all the villains in the series. they were people bruce met and befriended and to see each one turn to the edge really must hurt more each time and realized that he took part in their downfall albeit indirectly and not on purpose.

It almost feels good when Arthur turns, but John turining hurts. Its amazing how his characterisation can make you feel like that.
