- Hello Everyone Welcome To Engineer’s Academy
In this video we will learn the Basic Difference Between two Impact Testing Procedures I.e. Izod impact testing & Charpy Impact Testing,
1. Both are the Impact Test under Which a Sudden load is incurred on the Specimen,
It is a Standardize high Strain Rate test Which Determines the Amount of the Energy Absorbed by the Specimen during Impact Loading Condition.
It Gives Material’s Notch Toughness.
Standard Specimens Are as per ASTM A370 / ASTM E23
Specimen for Charpy / 10 x 10 x 55 mm Long
Specimen For Izod / 10 x 10 x 75 mm Long
Specimen is having a V notch having angle of 45 Deg. And 2 mm Deep.
Izod - Specimen Held Vertically Such that the notch is facing towards the Striking hammer.
Charpy - Specimen held horizontally
Angle of Striking
Izod - 90
Charpy - 140 -120
Energy absorbed by specimen = (initial potential Energy in hammer - Final Energy)
These test are carried out in Steel / Aerospace / Automobile Industries.

you forgot one of the most important thing to do before start the test Is to check the calibration of of the Impact machine it is required to do before starting your test so you can tell the accuracy of your test Data otherwise your test data is wrong.
Yes, Callibration always required in any Measuring Instruments!
thanks!
Super... 👍👌
Very good explaination
Thank you so much Sir 😇
Appreciable Work ❤️
Helpful👏👏
nice.........................and backgroud sound is excellent
Subscribed bro😇continue ur work ur doing amazing work❤️
Thanks for your simple explanation, sir
Well explained
good information well said
very good explanation
In impact test IZOD, What is angle of end swing for plastic? thanks you so much
Very good videos!!!
6.49 Thank you for explaining
Very useful information
Good Job
the specimen length that showed on screen is deferent (2:40) is you speak in both test deference (5:07).
Very useful
So, any material which is needed to find toughness , first it is prepared in ASTM A370. Why is that? What is specimen specification means?
Excellent bro ❤️
Helped a lot , keep doing 👍
Thanks bro.. ! Keep watching & keep sharing !!
Nice bro
Sir,can you explain with practical.
I understood about impact testing.
But it will be better with practical
Thank u sir
Thnx bro
vedio on ASTM fracture test specimen
Super 🔥👍
Bro, HATS OFF!
👍
Thanks sir very much appreciated
Happy to help
Why notch is kept facing the hammer in izod and not in charpy?
Excellent lecture 👍
Please share & subscribe .. ! 😊 Thanks 👍
🙏🙏🙏
What is the purpose of v-notch in simple words.
Without v-notch difficult to meansure a toughness of the. Metal & it is same like a facebend test and it is better way to calculate the toughness of metal
But bro what are the support conditions of specimen
Vertical in izod test and horizontal in charpy test.!
@@EngineersAcademy9204 only theory will wont help to understand....
if you show how energy difference is coming is better otherwise it seems more theory for a practical also
I know why you opened yt channel 😂
why v notch is provided in the specimen for testing? why it's necessary to perform the test with v notch
Because un notched specimen do not always reveal the sensitivity of metal to brittle fracture..
Har har mahadev!!!!!
Sir i want to know which book have all this information 🙏🙏please suggest us the name of the book
machine design ! RS KHURMI & jk gupta
Mai yeh practical krna tha krna kya h kuch malum nahi lekin... Idhr aaya but yahi hall ha sry mujhko bilkul smjh nhi aaya... Aap yeh bataye plz ki kaise krna h mtlb readings le kr bataye kaise bhi krke
ok bhai !! aapke liye video banaunga readings kaise lete he
plz improve ur videos sound and use nice mic
Which is nothing but u bro 😂
Why a notch is made in charphy
Dude you said 55mm in izod ?
No,55mm in charpy
Brother the video lacks information. No explanation about notch, impact strength, hammer velocity, notch specimen area etc..
Man you said dimensions differently in both ....
I did a FEA simulation on that:
