Everyone has been so nice in this sport and helped my daughters out so much. They have gotten so much time behind some many rifles. I'll come down when you set up a barn. Maybe the broad side.

Erik! Thanks for all the great videos. I’m brand new to reloading and have a question. I see people agonizing over distance to the lands. I’m trying to figure out why. I understand you need to find the sweet spot as far as seating depth goes and that you need a decent measurement of the lands on your specific rifle. Why does this measurement need to be exact? Actually knowing the exact distance from the lands seems irrelevant to me. But getting a close measurement and starting load development off of that close measurement seems to me all that one would need. It seems like in seating depth testing you would still find the same node and knowing the exact distance from the lands would just be G wiz at that point. Finding a seating depth that works well and replicating it seems like all you have to do. Am I flawed in my reasoning? I know I’m able to get a measurement that accurate within 5 or so thousandths ….if I start at a theoretical 15 off the lands and find a good not working back…is t that good enough to get the same result? Seems like the bullets I want to shoot don’t mind relatively large jumps too. (6.5CM 140 from a few manufacturers)
I would love to come do this but i have never reached my rifle anywhere near that distance. Havw shot that far but nothing i have. I have a rifle capable just need to stretch its legs
I enjoy watching these. Just starting to get into the precision stuff. I was proud of my howa 1500 until I saw how much people invest into these… it’s crazy
I'd like to try the 5k open sight challenge. Only question is, do I get to use a weapon of my choice or something you choose? Also depends on timeline cause my schedule is kinda tied up right now....
Another option would be that shooters may choose which target to double up on after reaching the blackjack. Thus someone may choose to use leftover ammo to just shoot at 12 inch or 6 inch target.
Subbbbbbed!!!! Yep. Iv got a 35 year old remington model 30-06 bdl open shot I'd love to try this at. My rifle has the best open sights iv ever used. But the gun in 35 years has only 135 shots fired thru it since new. I'd need an awful lot of practice before I'd give this a try it's no easy feat with a high power scope so open sights would be like 1 in 1,000,000 that could do that.
Just an old Sourdough at 60.33 N, One would be lucky to have 9 hrs of shooting light at this time of year. I have to wonder how the score might change if all shooters wore a bill cap to block the sun and the targets were rotated 45 degrees? Go Shoot >>> > X
Would so love to see this challenge done with stock standard rifles, straight w the shelf. It’s quite entertaining listening to people talking up their builds🤣. But excuses are better.
I may take you up on the "open sight" challenge one day, depending on what you're calling open sights. About impossible to to hit anymore than maybe the 3rd target, but it would be fun anyways. If a long range soule sight, and aperture would be okay with you anyways.

Some of the shooters don’t hit the 2 inch plate . Also if you can shoot a 1/2 inch group at 100 yards but you can’t get a blackjack that’ll tell us more of how much the wind is playing a factor during that shoot. But then again I don’t know why I’m exposing myself to you who just couldn’t resist to give their opinion.
