I had to stop going to a gym because of this song. I was doing a cardio interval, already jogging a good pace when this song came on my headphones. I kept double-tapping the speed increased button every so often until my Pace match that of the tempo. When the song was over, I looked down and saw the speed I climbed to and had to get off the treadmill cuz I couldn't maintain that. The treadmill section went from full to empty, because no one wanted to be near the 260 lb bearded man sprinting 16 mph on the treadmill like he's leading a Viking raid.

This shit makes you feel like a warrior!!! When I use to work as a wildland firefighter, I would at times listen to this song, and let me tell you.. No amount of caffeine, no amount of pep talks, whatever, made you feel as ready to walk through flames and put that shit out. Definitely gave me a boost.
When I was deployed from 2008-2009 during the surge to Iraq with 4th brigade combat team, 3rd infantry division, this album came out in the middle of 2008. We were blasting that shit in our humvee during combat missions. Nothing quite like returning fire with an M2 .50 cal while trying to sync the bursts with the guitar riffs.
It’s always intrigued me how soldiers are able to somewhat remain calm and find ways to enjoy themselves in the midst of fighting. Thank you for your service.
It came out when I was in basic. My TI had heavy metal playing whenever he was about to just fuck our shit up. He asked if anyone who liked disturbed and played a few of their new songs while he was smoking us.

Draiman comments that the song "kind of symbolizes the fact that we're still fucking here, that we haven't been destroyed, that we withstood the test of time."
Especially when nobody believed they would at first, especially after their second album (which I personally loved as much as all the others). I for one dont understand why fans think a band has to stick to specifically one single sound, they should be allowed to dabble and experiment, if they hadnt we never would have gotten the best version ever of Sound of Silence.

The video for this is simple yet powerful, just warriors running through battlefields towards their enemies. Starts in the stoneage and moves up basically. Disturbed knows wtf they are doing with their music/videos.
I love the subtle ululation in the background during the breakdown. Just adds another layer and I've always found those types of vocals chillingly beautiful.
