This is where I have to love you and leave you, Boba. I want to go into the theater on July 11th knowing as little about Superman as possible and now that details are dropping and the trailer is imminent - I'll be skipping most of your videos. I'll watch the non Superman content but I just gotta avoid as many spoilers and info as I can. Thank you for keeping us all entertained and informed during the very dark times for the DCEU and DCU and I'm thrilled for you that you have over 128,000 subscribers and now have something exciting to talk about each day.
No worries Hawkman! If there were any spoiler-ish details/talk in future videos... I would give spoiler warning! So, I don't think you should be concerned there. As for this video, this was all said by James Gunn himself to reporters and he doesn't like giving out spoilers so I would regard that as 'safe'. Either way, thank you for your kind words and I'll see you around :)
Good riddance . its FUCKlNG Suoerman what is there to spoil? Lex Luthor has been in every iteration of Superman, ever. Supes saves cats from trees. I just want the comic book to come alive and only Man of Steel has come close to that. And for Superman to fight a Godzilla to start the film WoW! Gunn knows😂 how to set it off
The trunks on Superman is a callback to how the character was inspired by the Strong-Man types in the Circus... an image of strength in a setting for Family/Kids to enjoy... which is the basis of Superman. He's a hero for everyone!
Right. The superhero leotard came from an era long before spandex. And of course, the leotard was meant to show off muscles in a time when no one would dream of doing anything so immodest as baring their chest.
From a design standpoint, trunks aren't necessary. But something needs to be there, or the design doesn't quite work. The blue suit with red boots and virtually no belt breaks up the lines of the figure in an awkward way. Even Batman looks better without trunks than Superman does, just because he had that belt. But he also looks a bit off.
Theater goer's especially parents probably won't have a problem with the trunks but I am pretty sure they won't be too happy with the fact that the writer and director James Gunn thinking that pedophilia is hilarious and likes to throw pedophilia theme parties. Just saying 🤔🤮😡

I like David Corenswet's reasoning for wearing the trunks. Reminded me of Batman from The New Frontier. Superman is more kind than Batman, but seeing someone melt metal beams and chuck cars like toys would scare any kid. And Corenswet understood that. The fact that Superman is wearing the trunks, to make children feel safe, already shows how connected he is to humanity.

I know that this is a Superman movie but Mr Terrific has been my favorite character for a while now. Hearing it confirmed that he plays a major part in the plot of the story is a pretty big deal; especially with this being his theatrical debut. Hopefully, we get a Terrifics spinoff. Maybe that is one of the scenes at the end that Gunn is talking about.
From the on set filming pictures we saw this past summer. Mr Terrific is talking with Superman in the streets, him interacting with Krypto telling him to fly off, I think he also is fighting alongside Superman in that baseball park action set piece vs the Engineer and that guy dressed in all black with the "U" on his chest. Also isn't it assumed because of again on set photos we saw of the Daily Planet staff of Lois, Jimmy, Perry, Lombard, Grant, & Troupe all coming and walking out of some kind of potential space ship too which many are believing it's his T-Sphere ship. So yeah I think he'll end up being Supeman's superhero colleague for most of the movie.
I get the feeling Superman is designed to be a classic: opens in media res; tight period; low exposition; encounters conflict; hits us with Frank Capra - Robert Riskin work... a designed classic. Many films are product. This, if everything clicks, is pure STORY.
I really hope they're able to do something special with the flying that really wows people. I think flying in superhero movies has become paint by numbers by and large. It would be nice to see Superman once again be the one to make you believe a man can fly with some new, innovative technicques and special effects.
yup. flying scenes are so boring in hollywood films. it's always about how fast it is. zoom from A to B.. a blur here, a blur there. you are in the cloud, in the realm of the gods, the sky as your sandbox. live a little. flying scene is supposed to be majestic and awe-inspiring. miyazaki knows this. just watch all the flying scenes in ghibli films. they are the best. even james cameron took notice and used it for his avatar.
I agree. I was watching Superman with my 5 year old today and the flying effects from 1978 looked more real in that they weren't just some cgi blur. The wire work was good, and in some of the scenes where Supes was flying on an actual set and not in front of a green screen he really did look like he was flying. Heck, even the green screen didn't look too bad since the backgrounds were real places and not cgi.
Regarding Gunn talking about how so much is riding on "Superman", we've got to keep in mind that Gunn has said much more recently that when things were just starting to take shape for the DCU and "Superman" was in the process of being filmed, he was indeed very nervous about making sure everything about it was great, so his comments in this article make sense. But nowadays, he's said he's not nervous anymore because he's confident in what he has in front of him, he genuinely believes what he has filmed for "Superman" is great, and he's not nervous anymore, but rather is excited to show us what he has in store for us.
@@DeathFORcameO I can understand why. But I think we'll be fine. The teaser and trailers just have to be great (as does the movie). The fact that they've said they are planning to promote and market this movie like crazy is REALLY going to help this movie too.

I kinda like the idea of Corenswets re-interpretation of why Superman wears the trunks. The original reason no longer fits today (circus/carnival strongmen back in the day wearing tights/bodysuits with trunks on the outside and boots) as they did when Superman and Batman debuted. His interpretation also tells me how he see's Superman and I think that's a good thing.
I have such high hopes for this movie. It’s been SOO long since we got a true Superman movie that understands the character. Man of steel isn’t a bad movie but it’s not truly Superman and the tone sure isn’t. This could become the definitive Superman
I've never actually been more confident of a movie being good. I've never seen a bad James Gunn project, he clearly loves the characters. He made me care more about a tree who says three words, than Snyder ever did with Superman. I cried when Rockets mutated friends died.....
Hear me out... The pilot of the Dean Cain series ends with superman meeting lex and telling him 'if you ever need to find me, look up' 🤔 I'm hoping for a modern reimagining of that scene 🤯
I like the "neither is a mask" angle, but mainly because of the Krytonian heritage mentions that i think it will pay off massively when we finally see him interact with Bruce. That realisation from Clark that the human side of his human counterpart is a sham will be a great interaction
Lana knows who Clark is, she's always the first to find out. He may have also trained with the Legion of Super Heroes so that group and everyone in the 31st Century probably know too.
I think her knowing who Superman is, is that she knows what he stands for and wouldn’t do anything to put people in harms way hence my theory she is going to be crucial in proving he is innocent against ultraman parading as Superman but that’s my theory idk
I have been excited for this movie for months now since I saw the suit reveal and the set photos, but over these past two days, the excitement has shot through the roof! The poster is perfection. The movie tagline being look up is an outstanding decision. The theme!!! Beautiful!!! Everything I’m seeing tells me this might be one of the greatest superhero movies of all time. James Gunn’s understanding of the character isn’t a simple case of, “Oh, yeah, Superman! He’s the strong alien that wears blue, red, and yellow.” Rather, his perspective is one of, “This is the paragon of virtue and good in a world that is made up entirely of the scum of the earth. This is the farm boy who is just as likely to help a little girl on the verge of suicide as he is to stop a comet that’s about to destroy the whole world.” Maybe it sounds corny, but this is the kind of reverence that Superman deserves!
I have a theory based on a trailer description I read (I'm not sure if this description is accurate) but apparently in the trailer Superman mentions to Kyrpto to "take him home". I think we will get a scene straight out of For All Seasons where he quits being Superman for a short bit and goes back to Smallville and the "other people" who know the real Clark are Lana Lang and Pete Ross and we get a dinner scene with them talking to Clark about his time in Metropolis and why he decided to hang up the cape and move back to the farm
If there's one thing I like hearing in this interview about Lex Luthor, vs the one we got in Superman and Lois... I was missing the Super Genius aspect of Lex... he was too busy wrapped up in revenge and being with his Daughter that I didn't get a sense he was a very smart dude...and even moreso to the point when we had his Assistant basically build his plans for him, even his Computer Genius Milton Fine help out... Lex was a blank slate in that show that kinda disappointed me a little.
Boba idk if you’ve gotten married yet but congrats on your day whenever that is man🙏🏾💯 superman trailer and becoming a married man in the same month/ even the same week is crazy, from Gotham, lucifer, superman and Lois and now SUPERMAN! if you have a kid Bruce or Clark is the only acceptable names I think it’s safe to say😂🤷🏽♂️. anyway looking forward to seeing your reaction Thursday morning to the new trailer and congrats again on the marriage bro! you’ll do great. love as usual from Toronto.
wouldn't mind if their relationship is like in Action comics #1: that She basically can't stand Clark, she isn't interested in him she doesn't even notice him
David Corenswet is a brilliant man ,saying trunks make kids trust Superman more, that great ,like the trunks add a layer of trust in the eyes of kids ,that's good.
Personally, I hope the movie plays up David Corenswet’s Clark Kent in a similar vein as Jack Quaid’s Clark from “My Adventures with Superman”, where he’s an adorkable nerd who’s charming and kind-hearted, but also sympathetic and just wants to do the right thing despite the overwhelming odds against him.
I say Superman will cross the 1 billion dollar mark at the box office. Just wait for the trailer and see the superman hype. The most popular superman with a movie directed by Gunn, movie is going to be good no doubt and also will break the box office.
Regarding the suit, im sure James gunn knows people were always gonna hate regardless. They could've easily taken Henry cavil suit and added colour or made a similar design to it and people would've come out saying it's just a cheap copy of Zack snyder. The same goes for the trailer and even the movie itself, they'll be people who wont even watch the movie and will still say it's terrible. Haters will never change. I'm personally very excited and cant wait for it.
I really hope this movie does Lex justice, I really don't want another Jesse Eisenberg on our hands and is an actually threatening and intimidating villain
Superman was designed to wear trunks from the beginning, his suit never looks quite right without them...that is the reason alot of the time they add red to his belt... because they realize that something is off about that look.
Since heroes have been around for 100’s if not 1,000’s of years, theoretically there were some heroes that Clark looked up to as a kid. So I wonder who that could be? Maybe some heroes that aren’t around anymore.
With Stagg building and getting 2 out of 4 already in Superman i really hope that one of the unannounced projects of chapter 1 is for THE TERRIFICS?! 🤔🙏 Rly need to see Isabela Merced as HAWKGIRL and Nathan Fillion GUY GARDNER in their Comic accurate af costumes in the movie too?! 🤔🙏
Boba great video! Thanks for giving us the DC news I can’t wait to to see the movie myself and I hope you will do a review after you have seen it and give your thoughts on the movie keep up the great work 👍
I don’t mind the trunks, I’m just not a fan of baggy the suit looks and the lines, knee, elbow and shoulder pads on the suit. It looks like a motorcycle suit. Either way I hope the film is amazing and I hope for a new suit in the sequels
I'm not a huge Superman Fan ... he's not bad ... but this movie has me with soke anticipation has anyone seen Brightburn ? James Gunn produced it and it was a Rated R elseworld Superman story
Apples and Oranges my friend. Cavill was growing into classic Superman. It was the approach Snyder wanted to take. Gunn is giving us classic Superman from the jump. I loved MoS. I can’t wait to see this film too!!!
I disagree with you, that this movie needs to make more than The Batman to ensure a successful start for the DCU. I don’t think it can afford to be a flop, but they certainly need to break even. DC’s IP is shot. As long as they get critical praise and break even, it will be a success in the current climate. The DCU does not have the luxury of following a universally praised and successful Nolan trilogy to guarantee bums in seats.
I mean ideally yeah, of course. But I'm not sure it will. So, a typical range around that of the success of The Batman's box office would be 'good' from where I'm standing (even anything $700m+), since the beginning of the DCU ultimately needs to win back the good will of the public over time to ensure a better financial success with future projects. Not all those people will necessarily turn up for the first project, so I don't think Superman will ever do as 'good' as it 'should' do even if it is hypothetically a genuinely good movie.
@@BobaTalks I think you're 100% right about it never having the chance to reach it's full box office potential. Who knows. They may have an ace up their sleeve and somehow market to the middle age female and young family market segment to join the billion $$ club?! I can picture a wholesome and hilarious Krypto trailer (with some Superman thirst shots) appealing to those segments. Either way consistency in quality in what they put out will earn back the good will of the public. The $$$ will then come.
I don't think drone footage will help thw visuals at all, it's coming out in 2025 not 2005. They just need the time for the vfx shots, which gunn said he was giving them.

The Fact Top Gun Maverick was apparently the inspiration for The Film's Flight scenes is Just awesome if true
Gunn has definitely dealt with a Lot Of Pressure which people don't know...
So far Creature Commandos is great fun.
I just hope they can fix GI Robot. He's my favorite character so far.
I have such high hopes for this movie. It’s been SOO long since we got a true Superman movie that understands the character. Man of steel isn’t a bad movie but it’s not truly Superman and the tone sure isn’t. This could become the definitive Superman
I’m glad Mister terrific will get his shine
I've never actually been more confident of a movie being good. I've never seen a bad James Gunn project, he clearly loves the characters. He made me care more about a tree who says three words, than Snyder ever did with Superman. I cried when Rockets mutated friends died.....
Hear me out... The pilot of the Dean Cain series ends with superman meeting lex and telling him 'if you ever need to find me, look up' 🤔 I'm hoping for a modern reimagining of that scene 🤯
This is the only channel I’ve ever enabled notifications for lol
I’m here, I wanna thank boba for feeding my brain with Superman and Dc news 🙏
Great breakdown video on Superman bro.
Boba, I been rockin with your channel since you covered that awful Titans live action series. Keep up the great work!
I like the "neither is a mask" angle, but mainly because of the Krytonian heritage mentions that i think it will pay off massively when we finally see him interact with Bruce. That realisation from Clark that the human side of his human counterpart is a sham will be a great interaction
Love Mr terrific
Lana knows who Clark is, she's always the first to find out.
He may have also trained with the Legion of Super Heroes so that group and everyone in the 31st Century probably know too.
If yall aren’t subbed to this man you’re missing out all your dc content is here 💯
Another day another boba banger
I think her knowing who Superman is, is that she knows what he stands for and wouldn’t do anything to put people in harms way hence my theory she is going to be crucial in proving he is innocent against ultraman parading as Superman but that’s my theory idk
trunks !!! I love the trunks, I like it when they honor the original!
I bet we get a lot of SUPERMAN news tomorrow too.
Can’t wait for the trailer tomorrow 🔥🔥🔥
It comes out Thursday not tomorrow
DAM U HAD ME?¿?
WHAT DAY !T WAS
4A SEC🤣ND.....
@@bucarriIt's already Wednesday for certain parts of the world...
I’m glad Gunn is getting a trailer out before Fantastic 4. They release two weeks apart, with Superman first.
16:23 "He shoot bees out of his eyes." That must a new super power. Not the bees!
Nah Jimmy finding out Clark is Superman would be such a funny moment, we cant have him already knowing Clark's secret without seeing him finding out
Busy busy boba 🔥🔥💯
Does anyone know where the footage of Gunn talking with that superman poster in the background is from???
Great work man, love the channel
I swear I just watched the other superman video lol I really hope when I watch Superman next year that I enjoy it :)
I have indeed, thank you! I showed a couple of wedding pictures in my my past few videos (not yesterdays)! :)
Hey Boba just curious where you got that Batman crewneck? would love to get one lol
wouldn't mind if their relationship is like in Action comics #1: that She basically can't stand Clark, she isn't interested in him she doesn't even notice him
David Corenswet is a brilliant man ,saying trunks make kids trust Superman more, that great ,like the trunks add a layer of trust in the eyes of kids ,that's good.
What if they flip the usual trope and have Lois be into Clark and be unimpressed with Superman.
That would be a refreshing take.
Like Superman and Lois
They playing this safe but ... new. Soundtrack, title. It's the right move given what is riding on this film.
Good update.
Yes! 2 Days Left For The Trailer
Im too young to have lived the classic superman era, young enough to have seen bvs in cinema, but old enough to see the rebirth of a new DC universe
Me when boba talks 🔥🔥😎
Yo you said the thing
Cool hat man!
I say Superman will cross the 1 billion dollar mark at the box office. Just wait for the trailer and see the superman hype. The most popular superman with a movie directed by Gunn, movie is going to be good no doubt and also will break the box office.
I am anxiously waiting to see this movie. I’ve got a feeling it’s going to be the best Superman movie since the first Chris Reeve Superman movie.
Do you think we will get more info about other protects this week?
We’re about to witness peak bro
I have complete faith that this will be the best Superman movie ever made
I really hope this movie does Lex justice, I really don't want another Jesse Eisenberg on our hands and is an actually threatening and intimidating villain
Superman was designed to wear trunks from the beginning, his suit never looks quite right without them...that is the reason alot of the time they add red to his belt... because they realize that something is off about that look.
considering the online hype akin to DP&W for Superman, there's no way this movie flops.
Since heroes have been around for 100’s if not 1,000’s of years, theoretically there were some heroes that Clark looked up to as a kid. So I wonder who that could be? Maybe some heroes that aren’t around anymore.
Superman vs Godzilla? Is that the purple beam from the old teaser image... :D
We might see more than one suit if we get a bunch of movies
With Stagg building and getting 2 out of 4 already in Superman i really hope that one of the unannounced projects of chapter 1 is for THE TERRIFICS?! 🤔🙏 Rly need to see Isabela Merced as HAWKGIRL and Nathan Fillion GUY GARDNER in their Comic accurate af costumes in the movie too?! 🤔🙏
Boba great video! Thanks for giving us the DC news I can’t wait to to see the movie myself and I hope you will do a review after you have seen it and give your thoughts on the movie keep up the great work 👍
I cant wait for Superman
I don’t mind the trunks, I’m just not a fan of baggy the suit looks and the lines, knee, elbow and shoulder pads on the suit. It looks like a motorcycle suit. Either way I hope the film is amazing and I hope for a new suit in the sequels
I think if it doesn't hit the big boy billion they're going to be upset
What is the run time ???
probably 1 hour
probably 1 hour 56 minutes

The movie comes out in July. Ask this question again in June 2025
I'm not a huge Superman Fan ... he's not bad ... but this movie has me with soke anticipation has anyone seen Brightburn ? James Gunn produced it and it was a Rated R elseworld Superman story
Kaiju is clearly code for something
James Gunn already proving he understands Superman more in the first act of his film than Snyder did in three films 🤣🤣🤣
Apples and Oranges my friend. Cavill was growing into classic Superman. It was the approach Snyder wanted to take. Gunn is giving us classic Superman from the jump. I loved MoS. I can’t wait to see this film too!!!
@ShinAkakage Well said bro 👏🏼
Thank you. @@ShinAkakage
@@larrykwartowitz you’re welcome
We've already seen a kaiju in Gunn's DCU. Starro in the Suicide Squad.
Gunn is amazing. Brings a tear of happiness to my eyes
He's a hack who doesn't know the fans.
@brocKain Lol Peacemaker, Guardians and Creature commandos says differently
If Superman doesn’t do great I think they’ll shift focus to TV pretty much.
I doubt it will.
I don’t care if there is or isn’t trunks. It’s a small detail
I don't think drone footage will help thw visuals at all, it's coming out in 2025 not 2005. They just need the time for the vfx shots, which gunn said he was giving them.
Lex Luthor is one of the people who probably knows that Clark is Superman
I think Superman just needs to get more than Man of Steel
