LIE is a master class in performance art. and technical music perfection. Jimin wrote music and lyric and produced totally in house by PPdog and Bang himself.He said they asked for very few changes and Jimin was wonderful and insightful to work with.
You guys understood the message of the song pretty well! I see Jimin as a storyteller foremost. He's just so good at expressing emotions through his vocal delivery, his lyrics and his dancing. Jimin was extremely involved on this entire album. And he helped choreograph as well as come up with concepts for the MV and the expressions and moves the backup dancers should do along with composing and writing the song. It's a really different sound from what he usually does so fans were quite shocked the first time we watched it haha.
the poem on his chesst is written in german. very touching to me because it is my mother language. It´s a poem from Rainer Maria Rilke, "i live my life in ever widening circles" . Here is the english translation. It goes so perfectly with Jimins personality I live my life in ever-widening circles that stretch themselves out over all the things. I won't, perhaps, complete the last one, but I intend on trying. I circle around God, around the ancient tower, and I circle for thousands of years, and I don´t know , yet, am I a falcon, a storm, or a mighty song.
I must say, Jimin really showed his raw dark side with this song. I admire his courage and strength to release this piece because given the worldwide status of his group, there was no way he could avoid the scrutiny and ruthless comments but still, he expressed what he wanted to express and told his story without having any of the usual fluffy sound you would expect from a pop song that the mainstream would enjoy. He may appear soft, shy and quiet but is actually very brave, courageous and highly disciplined. I really admire his gentle yet also strong mentality. There’s no Set me free part 1 by Jimin, although Suga released a song called Set me free. Not related though. But Jimin did point out that there were similar themes to both songs 💜 As for this masterpiece - I just want to say, Jimin definately does NOT need auto tune. He has the most unique, beautiful voice I’ve ever heard. The auto tune adds another element to the song and I think it works perfectly 💜 So I appreciate what you said so much and you are absolutely correct. As a former dancer from the very first video I saw (Black Swan) it was obvious to me that Jimin had classic dance training. The ballet, modern dance & jazz was visible in every perfect, fluid movement. Every video I watched showed more of the training and very high talent level. Even in the non music videos (Run BTS, behind the scenes features and them hanging out) he stands and moves like a dancer without even noticing he’s doing it. It becomes so ingrained, so much a part of your body it’s like breathing. I remember being surprised 20 years after I’d last worked in dance (career ending injury at 19) waiting to cross a street with my BFF, she looked down smiled and said “you don’t even notice do you”? Sure enough I looked down and was waiting in first position which apparently was my standard way to stand. Couldn’t resist later that day doing a quick run through of first to fifth and I didn’t have to think my body just did it. I always saw that in Jimin so I wasn’t surprised when I saw his formal dance training prior to BTS confirmed. He has the best of both worlds and we all get to enjoy his voice, face (how can you not) and the art of his movements.
The other day, I.read that Jimin received a high honor award1 from the Korean military for his performance during an 11 day difficult training exercise. He has been assigned to artillery with the specific job of making calculations for shooting ( I am woefully limited in my military language). I only say this because none of these guys are in cushy units in the military. He and JK are stationed near the border with North Korea. I hope they all stay healthy and are not injured for their sakes of course, but also for us.

When this came out, we all got shocked! it's so unlike all his other solo song which tends to be softer imagers/vocals/dances. But well he can do it all! He's honestly one of the top artists who dance & sing with emotions. You can tell his contempoary dance background from his moves. Literally you stop at any frame, he's at his best position just like a poster.
One thing you’ll notice about our Jimin is he never does anything “half way”. He strives for originality and perfection in every way! He is known as Stage Commander for a very good reason. Also referred to as an “Idea Bank”. He is so multi-talented, with a top tier work ethic that all who’ve encountered him always marvel over. Not only that, but is talented in art, calligraphy, sports, martial arts and could easily become a stand up comedian! What planet is he from?!? Also experts have expressed the significance of his high EQ (emotional intelligence) not to mention his IQ being up there as well! He gained a special position in the military due to his skills in math and physics! 9 years of being student counsel President or VP and known in school as Math God, even teaching class to fill in for the teacher. So many other astonishing things I could mention but maybe you will find the “Introduction to Park Jimin” videos which will leave you speechless and inspired 😊! Never fan girled over any artist like this in my 56 years. He is once in a lifetime type of artist. Funny thing is that he is so very humble and always puts others above himself, a truly exceptional human being! Please google Lee K and Jimin. Lee K is a famous Korean illustrator who has done several paintings of Jimin, and yes, one of them ended up in an exhibition of his in Paris. That painting and I think one other was either bought by Jimin or gifted to him by the artist because they now hang on display at Jimin's dad's café in Busan. It has become a pilgrimage site for many fans. 😁

I loved how, in the dance practice, the dancers arms were so visible. They were a part of the dance movement. I was disappointed that they chose to cover them up for the video. There is a "making of" for this you might like. They used the robot camera. Or - wait a minute - was it the one on the car? Oh well, one of those (or both). Anyway, as producers you should try to watch as many "making of"s as possible. There's also an explanation video of this from Bookish Theories which is interesting. This was really epic. We were shocked when this dropped bcoz its another side of Jimin. You got the meaning of the song. Those auto tune used for artistic purposes like the voices in his head (in some parts where it is used) but sad reality is that insecure fans of other members esp JK and V stans and other idols belittle and harassed Jimin for using auto tune. Set Me Free Pt2 choreography is definitely an artistic performance. Clearly conveys the emotions, expresses the message. JIMIN is an amazing artist, extremely gifted and talented dancer and a singer. In all of his songs he is a story teller. The auto tune is definitely an artistic choice purposefully made to emphasise the particular lyrics and again to convey the strong emotions. Jimin studied contemporary dance at Busan High School of Arts. In fact, it was one of his instructors that encouraged him to audition for Big Hit. There are early videos of him performing at his school on YT.
What I love is that in the days of all these chaotic multi transition videos (still love those), it stands the simplicity making an impact test. Use of bodies as props and transitions needs no flash. With talent you can make bold statements. Art.
Love how you watch both the MV and dance practice together in one video. When this song came out and we heard Jimin swear (in English, no less) the fandom was SHOCKED! Jaws dropped around the world. 😱 Just think of that one person in your group of friends from whose lips you've never heard a single cuss word in all the time you've known them -- that's the effect this had on Army. It's not that we think he never swears in real life, but it comes less naturally to some, and especially in a song... it was the last thing we expected from Jimin, but somehow satisfying to hear him expressing himself (after enduring years of hate and even a couple death threats in the past).
Fun fact: His set is a panopticon, shaped like a prison, which for him was intentional. I think everyone who’s heard his song has uttered that same word ‘epic’ after seeing his mv!
Yes I also generally dislike autotune but Jimin used it so well that it sounds like he's got a separate voice in himself. I love how his adlibs in the background and certain important phrases don't have autotune effect on it, sounds beautiful. Set me Free pt.1 is technically Suga's song under his Agust D works. Jimin had even considered asking Suga to be on the track. This release was such a long awaited return of the Jimin we saw on his track "Lie", and are both peak works imo.

Jimin never does anything halfway, consistently outdoing himself! I love how he was able to explore his artistic freedom in chapter 2 showing how much more he has to offer! As an ARMY, I too was shocked at first! Not my Jimin! I even thought he wanted to be set free of BTS! But after learning some story and listening to the album, I learned he had a deep depression during covid. He drank a lot "Hennessy" and the members were worried. The other songs on Face, in my simple mind, were attempts to get out of depression, alone, or partying, that didn't work. This is the last song, and he's free of depression! I appreciated Jimin's ballet positions, even in those heavy boots.
Oh, by the way, Jimin is indeed a contemporary dancer as well as hip-hop, so he is classically trained first, then learned singing on his own once he was a trainee at BigHit.💜💜💜 His talent is immeasurable and grown through very hard work. 🥰

Some years ago Suga released a song called Set Me Free, so Jimin didn't want any confusion between the songs. I was quite shocked the first time I heard this, the sound is so different to what I associated with Jimin, but after hearing it a few times I think it is amazing. Jimin is a dancer to his core.

There us a " behind the scenes" on the making of this MV. They showed there were many takes but there are several live performances of this song, including the entire dance troupe but no costume changes.

Jimin was recruited as a dancer first and has worked really hard on his singing. For years he felt his singing was his weakness. He said, during one live stream, he hopes to someday be someone who's singing would inspire and move people. I think he is there. We have seen so many songs with Jimin singing the highest of high notes for the group, and he does that really well. This was our first taste of him singing in his lower register and it is fabulous. This song was the first release from his solo album FACE. That album was inspired by his emotions during the pandemic where he admitted to being really depressed. People always ask about the tattoos. The chest full of words is applied but he does have a number of tattoos. Most notable is "NEVERMIND" on his right ribcage (you can see a glimpse of it during the first half of the MV because his shirt has a gap), the moon fazes down his spine, and the "7" he and all the members got. His is on a finger. I think he has forever on one elbow and young on the other. He and JK are really the ones that are into tats. The text on his chest in the second half of the video is from a German poet Rainer Maria Rilke called "I live my life in widening circles". The FACE album cover looks like a raindrop in a puddle with the word "FACE" in the middle, a visual representation of the poem. Jimin got no end of crap from his group mates for beings so skinny and having no muscles when he went shirtless in this video. It was really funny. Brothers... they pick on each other like that and it is cute. I was hoping you two would watch this and really enjoy it. Jimin is truly an artist. All of them are. We did! As Sam and I said, we love this camera guy because we think it's the same one we keep talking about in a lot of previous videos. The guy is extremely talented and as amazing dexterity.
Part 1 is Suga's "Set Me free". Both songs are produced by the same producer but the songs are not related although they share some similar themes. Jimin and JK enrolled in military together, Jimin topped everyone and won the best recruit award. He then went on to do the most difficult military exercise in the South Korean military and received a special warrior award and is up for early promotion. Its amazing what this little mochi can achieve, he is terribly under-rated.
FYI: All their dancing is high caliber performance art storytelling. They are not just doing dope dance moves. Their moves are related to themes and lyrics of the songs and tell part of the story for each performance. But I do understand what you mean about lovely Jimin and his contemporary dance background.
Were people trying to get you to watch the Jimin Like Crazy dance practice because there was no dancing in that video, but the dance is beautiful? Just curious. The song is so Jimin, I know some ARMY were shocked by it at the time but i thought it was just so him. Yes he is very much a dancer but i would say he's a performer if i was going to call him anything rather than pick between singer and dancer. You are right. Jimin did start out as a dancer. He attended the Just Dance Academy, and the Busan High School Of Arts. He was even called The Rising Star Of Busan. It was during his trainee days, and pre-debut days, that he was taught to sing - well, technically he taught himself. Initially they were looking at Jimin to be a rapper but Yoongi put his foot down. He said Jimin had to be a singer. He said that, if allowed to develop his vocals skills, he would have a unique, and amazing tone. That as a singer he would be something special. Even back then Yoongi was someone you couldn't help but respect, apparently. Jimin used to sit in on the vocal lessons of the other members, and essentially learned to sing by observation. Through the course of BTS Discography, you can see the development, and evolution, of Jimin's voice. And Yoongi was right - it really is something special.
I actually think that people just wanted you to watch Like Crazy dance practice because the MV itself didn't have any dance 😅 Also, don't know about the comments here, but as someone who knows Jimin well enough, I very much expected a song and performance like this from him! Jimin is art itself! He is the Master of Stage and King of Kpop with an unfathomable power aura and great artistic mind. Hybe's most recent HQ building is in Seoul and was built from the ground up. I think it's 16 floors above ground and 6 floors underground. This IS BTS's state of the art dance studio. I think Suga wanted the basketball goal in the studio as they enjoy playing (mostly Suga, Jimin, and V). Fun fact: Suga wanted to play basketball professionally, but his handicap in doing so was his height.

A fun little note, around 11:17 maybe before when the dancers are on all fours and it looks like they are banging their heads on the ground, well a tiktok video started with this song and people would be in various places like the park and do that movie. Yes he's an dancer Top student of Comtemporary Dance at the Busan School of Arts In fact he was the Top student in all subjects at the Busan School of arts in includes sports and would stand in for the math's teacher. He also does other dance forms and he's a martial arts expert and can and does interweave different dance styles and martial arts into his dances.
I love that you get the roll of auto tune. It’s not covering anything up. It’s providing a different voice, a distinctive and tasteful variance to his normal voice.
This MV is mind blowing and left everybody speechless ! But it's not really surprising, coming from Jimin. He knows how to express himself, and transcending his feelings and emotions throught poetry, art and beauty ! Set me free is about breaking free from himself, from his past struggles and the way people and opponents want to stuck him in a box. Jimin had a long and difficult journey for loving himself, playing with his différents "faces" /images/filters. He recently said : "« "Set Me Free Pt.2 was created when I was feeling lost and depressed. I was determined to overcome those feelings and had lots of those thoughts. It's a song that contains a lot of my emotions from then. Just like how we overcome challenges and get lost again. There are things we can't escape from as if we're on a hamster wheel. That's what I wanted to express". This MV is truly a piece of art ! The dialogue between his différent inner voices, using the autotune so artisticaly, his low and high register, agressive/soft , his facial and corporel expression. The the panopticon setting, the lightning, pulsing between light and shadow like a breathe, the wardrobe, the choir, the orchestral aperture, so épic. And of course, the choreography, so powerful, a story telling by itself. The shell/spiral/caterpillar/cocoon/Fibonaci sequence, the message of the song, the symbolism of the MV, and Jimin himself, the german poem on his chest ... All is perfect, beautiful and meaningful !! In an interview Jimin explained: "I tried to express the grand scale of the song and [the ideas of] determination, passion, and overcoming. “Set me free” means setting myself free, so I thought it was important that I be the one to set myself free - not someone else. In the end, I’m the one who has to set myself free. I would say the song has the energy of a light in the darkness"
SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO many people think, when one says ,"Auto Tune," you mean the one specific to pitch correction. There are many more types of auto tune, and we need to be more specific for ARMY or they will go ham on you. There is a reverb that adds like a echo kinda sound, for one, and one, like Jimin used hear that almost sounds inhuman,. For me that section was him talking to himself, in his head, then he breaks free, and switches to a clearer tone with a bit of reverb, just a touch on, Set Me Free. I found the auto tune on Set Me free added to the song as he went back and forth and then the auto tune was GONE towards the end. Jimin has it all, They refer to a guy as talented as Jimin as a 'all arounder' in K-Pop. A Idols, idol. He is, Rookie's Bible, in K-pop trainee land. LIE is a master class in performance art. and technical music perfection. Jimin wrote music and lyric and produced totally in house by PPdog and Bang himself.He said they asked for very few changes and Jimin was wonderful and insightful to work with.
You guys understood the message of the song pretty well! I see Jimin as a storyteller foremost. He's just so good at expressing emotions through his vocal delivery, his lyrics and his dancing. Jimin was extremely involved on this entire album. And he helped choreograph as well as come up with concepts for the MV and the expressions and moves the backup dancers should do along with composing and writing the song. It's a really different sound from what he usually does so fans were quite shocked the first time we watched it haha.

I must say, Jimin really showed his raw dark side with this song. I admire his courage and strength to release this piece because given the worldwide status of his group, there was no way he could avoid the scrutiny and ruthless comments but still, he expressed what he wanted to express and told his story without having any of the usual fluffy sound you would expect from a pop song that the mainstream would enjoy. He may appear soft, shy and quiet but is actually very brave, courageous and highly disciplined. I really admire his gentle yet also strong mentality. There’s no Set me free part 1 by Jimin, although Suga released a song called Set me free. Not related though. But Jimin did point out that there were similar themes to both songs 💜 As for this masterpiece - I just want to say, Jimin definately does NOT need auto tune. He has the most unique, beautiful voice I’ve ever heard. As a former dancer from the very first video I saw (Black Swan) it was obvious to me that Jimin had classic dance training. The ballet, modern dance & jazz was visible in every perfect, fluid movement. Every video I watched showed more of the training and very high talent level. Even in the non music videos (Run BTS, behind the scenes features and them hanging out) he stands and moves like a dancer without even noticing he’s doing it. It becomes so ingrained, so much a part of your body it’s like breathing. I remember being surprised 20 years after I’d last worked in dance (career ending injury at 19) waiting to cross a street with my BFF, she looked down smiled and said “you don’t even notice do you”? Sure enough I looked down and was waiting in first position which apparently was my standard way to stand. Couldn’t resist later that day doing a quick run through of first to fifth and I didn’t have to think my body just did it. I always saw that in Jimin so I wasn’t surprised when I saw his formal dance training prior to BTS confirmed. He has the best of both worlds and we all get to enjoy his voice, face (how can you not) and the art of his movements.
The other day, I.read that Jimin received a high honor award1 from the Korean military for his performance during an 11 day difficult training exercise. He has been assigned to artillery with the specific job of making calculations for shooting ( I am woefully limited in my military language). I only say this because none of these guys are in cushy units in the military. He and JK are stationed near the border with North Korea. I hope they all stay healthy and are not injured for their sakes of course, but also for us.

When this came out, we all got shocked! it's so unlike all his other solo song which tends to be softer imagers/vocals/dances. But well he can do it all! He's honestly one of the top artists who dance & sing with emotions. You can tell his contempoary dance background from his moves. One thing you’ll notice about our Jimin is he never does anything “half way”. He strives for originality and perfection in every way! He is known as Stage Commander for a very good reason. Also referred to as an “Idea Bank”. He is so multi-talented, with a top tier work ethic that all who’ve encountered him always marvel over. Not only that, but is talented in art, calligraphy, sports, martial arts and could easily become a stand up comedian! What planet is he from?!? Also experts have expressed the significance of his high EQ (emotional intelligence) not to mention his IQ being up there as well! He gained a special position in the military due to his skills in math and physics! 9 years of being student counsel President or VP and known in school as Math God, even teaching class to fill in for the teacher. So many other astonishing things I could mention but maybe you will find the “Introduction to Park Jimin” videos which will leave you speechless and inspired 😊! Never fan girled over any artist like this in my 56 years. He is once in a lifetime type of artist. Funny thing is that he is so very humble and always puts others above himself, a truly exceptional human being! Please google Lee K and Jimin. Lee K is a famous Korean illustrator who has done several paintings of Jimin, and yes, one of them ended up in an exhibition of his in Paris. That painting and I think one other was either bought by Jimin or gifted to him by the artist because they now hang on display at Jimin's dad's café in Busan. It has become a pilgrimage site for many fans. 😁

I loved how, in the dance practice, the dancers arms were so visible. They were a part of the dance movement. I was disappointed that they chose to cover them up for the video. There is a "making of" for this you might like. They used the robot camera. Or - wait a minute - was it the one on the car? Oh well, one of those (or both). Anyway, as producers you should try to watch as many "making of"s as possible. There's also an explanation video of this from Bookish Theories which is interesting. The set resembles a type of prison and the dancers form a golden ... golden....ratio? Dang. CRS hits again. Anyway - good video guys. Thanks.

This was really epic. We were shocked when this dropped bcoz its another side of Jimin. You got the meaning of the song. Those auto tune used for artistic purposes like the voices in his head (in some parts where it is used) but sad reality is that insecure fans of other members esp JK and V stans and other idols belittle and harassed Jimin for using auto tune. Set Me Free Pt2 choreography is definitely an artistic performance. Clearly conveys the emotions, expresses the message. JIMIN is an amazing artist, extremely gifted and talented dancer and a singer. In all of his songs he is a story teller. The auto tune is definitely an artistic choice purposefully made to emphasise the particular lyrics and again to convey the strong emotions. Jimin studied contemporary dance at Busan High School of Arts. In fact, it was one of his instructors that encouraged him to audition for Big Hit. There are early videos of him performing at his school on YT.
What I love is that in the days of all these chaotic multi transition videos (still love those), it stands the simplicity making an impact test. Use of bodies as props and transitions needs no flash. With talent you can make bold statements. Art.
Love how you watch both the MV and dance practice together in one video. When this song came out and we heard Jimin swear (in English, no less) the fandom was SHOCKED! Jaws dropped around the world. 😱 Just think of that one person in your group of friends from whose lips you've never heard a single cuss word in all the time you've known them -- that's the effect this had on Army. It's not that we think he never swears in real life, but it comes less naturally to some, and especially in a song... it was the last thing we expected from Jimin, but somehow satisfying to hear him expressing himself (after enduring years of hate and even a couple death threats in the past).

Yes I also generally dislike autotune but Jimin used it so well that it sounds like he's got a separate voice in himself. I love how his adlibs in the background and certain important phrases don't have autotune effect on it, sounds beautiful. Set me Free pt.1 is technically Suga's song under his Agust D works. Jimin had even considered asking Suga to be on the track. This release was such a long awaited return of the Jimin we saw on his track "Lie", and are both peak works imo.

As an ARMY, I too was shocked at first! Not my Jimin! I even thought he wanted to be set free of BTS! But after learning some story and listening to the album, I learned he had a deep depression during covid. He drank a lot "Hennessy" and the members were worried. The other songs on Face, in my simple mind, were attempts to get out of depression, alone, or partying, that didn't work. This is the last song, and he's free of depression!

Jimin was recruited as a dancer first and has worked really hard on his singing. For years he felt his singing was his weakness. He said, during one live stream, he hopes to someday be someone who's singing would inspire and move people. I think he is there. We have seen so many songs with Jimin singing the highest of high notes for the group, and he does that really well. This was our first taste of him singing in his lower register and it is fabulous. This song was the first release from his solo album FACE. That album was inspired by his emotions during the pandemic where he admitted to being really depressed. People always ask about the tattoos. The chest full of words is applied but he does have a number of tattoos. Most notable is "NEVERMIND" on his right ribcage (you can see a glimpse of it during the first half of the MV because his shirt has a gap), the moon fazes down his spine, and the "7" he and all the members got. His is on a finger. I think he has forever on one elbow and young on the other. He and JK are really the ones that are into tats. The text on his chest in the second half of the video is from a German poet Rainer Maria Rilke called "I live my life in widening circles". The FACE album cover looks like a raindrop in a puddle with the word "FACE" in the middle, a visual representation of the poem. Jimin got no end of crap from his group mates for beings so skinny and having no muscles when he went shirtless in this video. It was really funny. Brothers... they pick on each other like that and it is cute. I was hoping you two would watch this and really enjoy it. Jimin is truly an artist. All of them are. They say one of the reasons BTS is so successful (beyond all the hard work) is because it is a group of 7 solo artists that choose to be in a group together. Jin returns this month from the military and JK has a new release out this week so keep your eyes open for those.

Suga did a song called Set Me Free.And yes Jimin was a dancer first before he started singing.He attended the Just Dance Academy and learned popping & locking ,He also studied contemporary dance at Busan high school of arts and the top student in the modern dance department.

We did! As Sam and I said, we love this camera guy because we think it's the same one we keep talking about in a lot of previous videos. The guy is extremely talented and as amazing dexterity.

Part 1 is Suga's "Set Me free". Both songs are produced by the same producer but the songs are not related although they share some similar themes. Jimin and JK enrolled in military together, Jimin topped everyone and won the best recruit award. He then went on to do the most difficult military exercise in the South Korean military and received a special warrior award and is up for early promotion. Its amazing what this little mochi can achieve, he is terribly under-rated.

FYI: All their dancing is high caliber performance art storytelling. They are not just doing dope dance moves. Their moves are related to themes and lyrics of the songs and tell part of the story for each performance. But I do understand what you mean about lovely Jimin and his contemporary dance background.
Were people trying to get you to watch the Jimin Like Crazy dance practice because there was no dancing in that video, but the dance is beautiful? Just curious.

We don't specifically recall any dance practice request for that song, but yes... not much dancing going on in that one. Great music video though! Oh, Sam will love to hear that!!!! He's a big YES fan (obviously)
The song is so Jimin, I know some ARMY were shocked by it at the time but i thought it was just so him. Yes he is very much a dancer but i would say he's a performer if i was going to call him anything rather than pick between singer and dancer.

You are right. Jimin did start out as a dancer. He attended the Just Dance Academy, and the Busan High School Of Arts. He was even called The Rising Star Of Busan.
It was during his trainee days, and pre-debut days, that he was taught to sing - well, technically he taught himself. Initially they were looking at Jimin to be a rapper but Yoongi put his foot down. He said Jimin had to be a singer. He said that, if allowed to develop his vocals skills, he would have a unique, and amazing tone. That as a singer he would be something special.
Even back then Yoongi was someone you couldn't help but respect, apparently.
Jimin used to sit in on the vocal lessons of the other members, and essentially learned to sing by observation. Through the course of BTS Discography, you can see the development, and evolution, of Jimin's voice. And Yoongi was right - it really is something special.
I actually think that people just wanted you to watch Like Crazy dance practice because the MV itself didn't have any dance 😅 Also, don't know about the comments here, but as someone who knows Jimin well enough, I very much expected a song and performance like this from him!
Jimin is art itself! He is the Master of Stage and King of Kpop with an unfathomable power aura and great artistic mind. He's very versatile, talented, and basically magical when it comes to arts and performance. The more you know him, the more you'll understand it yourself 😊
Hybe's most recent HQ building is in Seoul and was built from the ground up. I think it's 16 floors above ground and 6 floors underground. This IS BTS's state of the art dance studio. I think Suga wanted the basketball goal in the studio as they enjoy playing (mostly Suga, Jimin, and V).
Fun fact: Suga wanted to play basketball professionally, but his handicap in doing so was his height.

A fun little note, around 11:17 maybe before when the dancers are on all fours and it looks like they are banging their heads on the ground, well a tiktok video started with this song and people would be in various places like the park and do that movie. Jimin was like, "what is happening?" lol how did this become a dance for TikTok to his song, well guess who, Jk yes you have got to love him. In a Weverse live he started head banging to this song with his living room table, and it took off. It is rough not seeing JK every week doing a live. Friday is a big day. A release from JK a new song.🤣

Both MV and dance practice are amazing while I like the dance practice more as it's clearer to see all insane movements and synchronization. 11:02 The camera even like striking on the ground which is stunning.

Yes he's an dancer Top student of Comtemporary Dance at the Busan School of Arts In fact he was the Top student in all subjects at the Busan School of arts in includes sports and would stand in for the math's teacher. He also does other dance forms and he's a martial arts expert and can and does interweave different dance styles and martial arts into his dances.
I love that you get the roll of auto tune. It’s not covering anything up. It’s providing a different voice, a distinctive and tasteful variance to his normal voice.

This MV is mind blowing and left everybody speechless ! But it's not really surprising, coming from Jimin. He knows how to express himself, and transcending his feelings and emotions throught poetry, art and beauty ! Set me free is about breaking free from himself, from his past struggles and the way people and opponents want to stuck him in a box. Jimin had a long and difficult journey for loving himself, playing with his différents "faces" /images/filters. He recently said : "« "Set Me Free Pt.2 was created when I was feeling lost and depressed. I was determined to overcome those feelings and had lots of those thoughts. It's a song that contains a lot of my emotions from then. Just like how we overcome challenges and get lost again. There are things we can't escape from as if we're on a hamster wheel. That's what I wanted to express".
This MV is truly a piece of art ! The dialogue between his différent inner voices, using the autotune so artisticaly, his low and high register, agressive/soft , his facial and corporel expression. The the panopticon setting, the lightning, pulsing between light and shadow like a breathe, the wardrobe, the choir, the orchestral aperture, so épic. And of course, the choreography, so powerful, a story telling by itself. The shell/spiral/caterpillar/cocoon/Fibonaci sequence, the message of the song, the symbolism of the MV, and Jimin himself, the german poem on his chest ... All is perfect, beautiful and meaningful !!
In an interview Jimin explained: "I tried to express the grand scale of the song and [the ideas of] determination, passion, and overcoming. “Set me free” means setting myself free, so I thought it was important that I be the one to set myself free - not someone else. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO many people think, when one says ,"Auto Tune," you mean the one specific to pitch correction. There are many more types of auto tune, and we need to be more specific for ARMY or they will go ham on you. There is a reverb that adds like a echo kinda sound, for one, and one, like Jimin used hear that almost sounds inhuman,. For me that section was him talking to himself, in his head, then he breaks free, and switches to a clearer tone with a bit of reverb, just a touch on, Set Me Free. I found the auto tune on Set Me free added to the song as he went back and forth and then the auto tune was GONE towards the end. Jimin has it all, They refer to a guy as talented as Jimin as a 'all arounder' in K-Pop. A Idols, idol. He is, Rookie's Bible, in K-pop trainee land. Whatever the IT factor is, Jimin has it by the ton.
