The glaring omission of the MGB I can forgive, but my real criticism of this video is the production style. This doesn’t feel like Goodwood. It feels like a random TH-camr in a t-shirt showing little clips and such. Bring me that Goodwood vibe! Make it feel like we’re watching something special, not another Donut list video.

being a ardent follower of Goodwood I find this presentation and demeanor far from the quality and temper we expect from the gentlemen at Goodwood. Along with a number of glaring inaccuracies, it falls far short of Goodwoods reputation of excellence.

If I see this bloke on another Goodwood item in future, I'll be unsubscribing.

The Pontiac Le Mans GTO NEVER had independent suspension. The only GM car to have that was the Corvette, and some of the early 60's buicks specials that were delivered with the trans axles and the corvairs. The Studebaker Golden Hawks had a higher top speed, 1/4 mile and 0 to 60 than the GTO, Corvette, Mustang, and most all of the muscle cars, GT cars, and sports cars from 1957 to 1963.

The Elan is motoring perfection, if it's sorted right, imho. Surprised not to see the Shelby Cobra in the mix...

The Giulia Sprint GT has to get in this list

    RIP Marcello Gandini.
Great list - love the Renault 4 but I've always had a soft spot for a quirky old French car. I'd have loved to see the Ford Escort and Ferrari 365 Daytona make the list though! :)
The E-Type is still one of the most beautiful cars ever made... quite a close call for me between that and the old Citroen DS.

Lancia Fulvia HF is one of my favorite classic cars from Italy. I love the lines and looks of them. Just beautiful. Racing pedigree is nice, but even if it didn't have it, I would honestly still love it.

Can't really argue with that list.

I have to say, this is a thankless task, and in my opinion, very well done with great insight on both sides of the Atlantic. There is no question that the Series I E type and Miura always vie for positions 1 and 2 (not necessarily in that order) for most beautiful production car ever made. I've owned two Miuras, still have one, have a 68 911 S, drove a 1970 Renault 4 when I lived in England, tried to talk my better 'alf into a Series I E type Roadster, had plans to buy a R26 Elan for track use, and agree that the Fulvia is important as the genesis of the Stratos.... and so what about IRS on the GTO?, it's a minor gaff. It's interesting that he picked the GTO... he's not influenced by current values, but the important influence they had on the industry at the time. I say, "Job Well Done!"

It would be boring to put the Ferrari GTO then put the 911 and Miura in the list…

911 - most boring of all time, every few years there is a - so called - "new" model 😂

250 GTO is not a road car though

@@ielmosTTR Wikipedia: The term Group 3 was in use by 1957 and by 1960 a minimum production of 100 units in 12 consecutive months was required to allow homologation into Group 3.

I would replace the 911 with the mk 1 Escort in the list, fun video though.

Nice video. Here are some cars I am missing: BMW E9 3.0 CS - also one of the most elegant cars of all time - and in form of the 3 Liter Leichtbaucoupe (lightweight coupe) a legend on the track. Mercedes 300 SEL 6.3 - the first real sport sedan that fought 911s for the left lane on the Autobahn. I also think that Ferrari was short changed in the video. They made so many beautiful cars in the 60s - not necessarily the 250 GTO, but cars like the 500 Superamerica, the 250 GT Lusso, the California Spider, that at least one has a place on my list. As it is less know than its 250 brethren for me that would be the 500 Superfast - one of the best GTs of all time. There are more, but it is impossible to pick a top 10 from the 60s without omitting important cars.

The first REAL sports sedan was the Alfa Guilia Super, which predated the 6.3 by several years...and was much more affordable. Still a great car to drive, and a real sleeper on a winging road...and I know as I had one for many years and many more upgrades. Oh, I've also had 4 6.3s and still have one. Lovely car, but getting VERY expensive to own with some parts now being the "unobtanium" of lore.

Err, this chappie is forgetting 2 cars that were quicker, if not as fast as the E-Type when it was launched...the 250 SWB...and DB4gt...my 2 favourite road cars...along with the AC Cobra in 1960...but hey what do I know!!

    • @rustyturner431
      @rustyturner431 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

The Cobra didn't come around until late-1962, and the handling of the small-block cars was seriously limited by the aging chassis and transverse leaf-spring suspension. It won a lot of races because it was lightweight and well-prepared, but the later big-block cars were dramatically superior. The BEST Cobra would be one of the UK-market late cars built with the newer chassis and sthe small-block engine - lighter and better balanced than the 427s. But very rare.

How about telling us something new or a lightweight (or semi lightweight) even call it a XKE but please shut up and show some racing (& Freddie and Gordon wouldn't be happy your using their moniker) 👎👎
