    Some years ago, I bought my brother one of these rifles. A few months ago he brought it over and we chrono`d it and adjusted the trigger. I don`t remember the numbers, but it was very consistent, and the trigger ended up being about 20 ounces. The accuracy with 15.9 JSB pellets was wonderful. Don`t be fooled by the plain jane appearance of this rifle, they are shooters.

      @razor1962 I have a FWB 124D and a HW 35es, both in .177. They both shoot well off a Weibad bag, but if you want exceptional accuracy, you have to use the artillery hold with no influencing pressure anywhere. I use AA 10.3's, and punch out sharpie dots with both guns.

    I bought one of these 3years ago and a diana 280 compact 12 years ago both in .177 and they have never let me down. I use them both for hunting here in Scotland. I have never bothered to chrono them but what i do know is they both kill rabbits pigeon squirrels ect out to 45 yads. Both have not been tuned but i sent the 280 for a full service last year with no notable drop in performance since. I also have hw 80 35 77 and both my diana models are every bit as good if not better.

    I've got three different 34's that I have somehow accumulated in my German springer collection
    It's not my favourite, though much copiec
    It has two design flaws, firstly the bevelled breech can clip the occasional pellet tail unless you are super diligent or use something to slightly recess it...but much weirder is the transfer port, some German, correctly assumed that the best place to have it collect from the piston centre...however, to get it to then output to the barrel that isn't central, he drilled a dog leg transfer port, this, is not only worse than picking up from behind the barrel, but requires three quarters of an inch of steel to do ..reducing stroke...and power yet further
    If you fill the entire transfer port with liquid metal, then drill a 4mm one straight through, with no other change you will find 10% power, if you mill the bottom inside of the compression tube down by 5mm (obviously this isnt easy)..viola! another 15%...
    Doing this you can run a lighter spring and/or piston, get a much nicer firing cycle and lose no power at all.

    • @razor1962
      @razor1962  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My .22, 34 with the TO6 trigger is an incredibly accurate rifle. Interesting info on the transfer port. Wondering what the point was....

    Have to say the cocking stroke sounds terrible. Sounds almost dry, you can hear the spring moving over the guide. Needs a good set of Delrin guides, piston liner & proper lubrication.
    An observation about your tuning. I notice you use a heavy spring tar. If the guides are correctly sized & you can fit a piston liner then you should have no need of heavy tar. You should be aiming to have the least amount of lubrication as possible.
    I use a thin coat of Moly on my springs, & I do mean thin, just enough to facilitate smoothness & because I have Welsh Willy or Shauny guides my guns have no buzz & a gentle dull thud when firing.
    Heavy tar can slow the firing cycle down. The rule to follow for all lubrication on a springer is just enough to do the job.
    Looking forward to the tuning videos.👍

    Hi Kevin,
    I hope you're feeling much better soon. I don't think there's any doubt about it. Your Diana air rifle you have there is
    quality kit. I think it may look a little bland, maybe because of the slender stock, though there's no questioning its performance.
    It does aggravate me, though, how we buy air rifles from quality manufacturers like Diana and Weihrauch, only to then have to dismantle them to sleeve their components because of too much play, etc.
    Surely, they are sat there in their large factories and they wouldn't have to go to the ends of the earth to add a few thousandths on a piston guide or machine a piston tube a little narrower?
    They are there, their machines at the ready, and if they did this, their products they produce could be genius instead of nearly there.
    I don't understand it. You wouldn't run a marathon, then stop two miles from home and pack up. Neither would we buy a new car, then jack it up and begin dismantling it. It doesn't make sense to me at all.
    The only thing I can think of is that, they must decide what they are prepared to manufacture and to the degree they are prepared to do it to. If we want better, and we do, then that is on our backs. In their eyes, they have fulfilled what are prepared to do.
    When I was young, people had a passion to make something they had passion for and were proud. Now, it seems to be that if something will do, it will do.
    That's not the attitude I'd expect from these quality manufacturers.
    Best wishes to you, Kevin, and thank you for your videos.

      @razor1962  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Ian,
      I understand your point, and while I can't say for certain, I will suggest that the guns as they come from the factory are just fine. It's us as perfectionists who demand more from them. I liken myself to the guy who buys a brand new sports car and immediately begins swapping out factory parts for performance parts. Is it necessary? No, but it sure is fun to see what kind of improvements in performance we can obtain.
      Thanks as always, my friend.

    • @ianwoods1384
      @ianwoods1384 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @razor1962 Hi Kevin,
      Thank you for your reply, it's nice to hear from you.
      Yes, I see your point, and it absolutely, as ever, makes sense. I've always tried and be seen as someone who sees things from all angles and, in this case may have been incorrect?
      We always like our belongings, especially our air rifles to be working as well as they possibly can. I'm sure Weihrauch and Diana have fulfilled their objectives in how their air rifles should and do perform, and it is upto us if we want them to go the extra mile or two.
      Maybe if they did this, it would push their prices up and may not make good business sense?
      Thank you for your advice, Kevin
      It's always good to hear and take in another point of view, one that I hadn't considered.
      Thank you and take care, my friend.

    i think it definitely makes a difference where the gun is rested as closer to the trigger guard will project more weight at the barrel and reduce the chance of barrel jumping when fired particularly with a 16 ftlb riffle but every riffle is different so it just down to experimenting but you are a good shot for an old timer with a new gun ;o) keep em coming bud. are those hn ftt pellets 5.0mm, 5.51mm, 5.52 or 5.53 mm my old hw 97 likes the 5.53 and i've heard they like the 5.54mm but theose are hard to get in the u.k.

Is this a brand new gun you just bought and if it is why do you find it nessasary to put a kit in it right away, what's wrong with shooting it the way it comes. The reason I'm asking this is because with me just spending over 800 dollars for my 97 it shouldn't need a kit in it for that much money to make it better. Everybody talks so highly about how great these guns are from Germany well they should come shooting great with out putting a kit in them for that amount of money don't you agree.

      Historically the Best Value comes down to a rugged, reliable rifle at a Fair Price.
      Usually it's best for the consumer to sort out the details as there are too many variables and individual preferences for any one Manufacturer to bear the financial burden of stock inventory.
      Especially when dealing with plastic polymers that would simply dry and whither on the shelves.
      These rifles aren't built for any one individual market. The production numbers are mind boggling, and the overall investment is considerable.
      Production costs would skyrocket ! 🤯
      A Good Value (Accurate, Rugged, Reliable) at a Fair, Reasonable price... 🤷🏼‍♂️
      Individual Esoteric details are too personal to interpret on the production floor.
      Tuning is just one more element of the Hobby and adds a huge sense of Personal Accomplishment and Far Greater Insight into "Your" rifle. 😉

      @@JohnVentarino-ey5lnCertain details like deburring metal work, slide & pivot lubes, and buttoning "Can" prevent any undue, unnecessary wear on a Shiny New rifle before it ever gets started, honestly preserving your investment.
