    Uh... to be fair Andre, they listened enough to get us a Deadpool movie, with Ryan Reynolds and have it rated R. It took them 6 years, but it's happening.

      Skinny Zach Films It was really longer than 6 years. Avi Arad asked Ryan Reynolds if he wanted to play Deadpool back on the set of Blade Trinity.

      #1 Mobile Suit Gundam (Seed or Double O), #2 Robotech, and #3 Metroid.

    I feel like you hinted at this but never said this, but I feel like the reason why all those geek movies didn't do well in theaters is because most geeks don't like going to the theaters in general and would rather wait or find a pirated version. All my friends watched Scott Pilgrim and were talking about it when it came out, but never went to a theater for it, and most just waited to watch it for free. That is the most frustrating part about the community. So, anyone who wants to watch this movie, please watch it in theaters, or at least try to

    • @ButtonsAndPillows
      @ButtonsAndPillows 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Seth Budrik This is the most frustrating thing when it comes to me convincing my friends to watch something with me. Like, I get that they might not want to spend the money on a ticket, because the cinema *is* super pricey where we live, or they might think that their single ticket won't make a difference to what the movie makes, it annoys me that they fail to realize that's what most people are thinking already.
      Bottom line, there are some content creators that actually deserve your money and support and their build up to the final product is what they're betting on for profit. It's one of my biggest pet peeves when someone will blatantly refuse to accept that they make a difference to the movies success despite how hard some creators actually work to bring them something they will undoubtedly love.

    Not a movie, but I kind of want to see a Scooby-Doo reboot done in an extremely serious tone. An ongoing television series in the style of a crime drama show where they solve legitimate mysteries and such. It isn't cartoony. It's just a gritty version of Scooby Doo... I don't know why that idea appeals to me, but it'd be pretty cool to see a realistic take on the characters.

    Omg! I'm so glad you were in that Nostalgia Critic review! You are so funny! I've been watching so many of your videos!I hope Deadpool is good. I'm so worried about him. Since they keep messing up Wade's character in all those movies. Also, I would very much like to see a rated R Black Widow movie.

  • @paradoxacres1063
    @paradoxacres1063 9 ปีที่แล้ว +29

    Yeah, I thought the trailer was kinda *boring*, to be honest.
    Something about the humour (in the trailer, not necessarily the movie as a whole) just didn't work for me. I personally hope the movie will be as bloody & awesome as the _Kingsman_ movie or the _Kick-Ass_ movies. Just have to wait and see, I guess.

    • @denzellmovies
      @denzellmovies 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I also didn't think the trailer was funny. They just made references to things kids probably don't know to show how ''mature'' this movie will be. Well, that part when Deadpool said ''I'm gonna touch myself to night'' was really mature, right?

    • @paradoxacres1063
      @paradoxacres1063 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      JustDenzell Yeah, I know what you mean.
      I usually _love_ silly references and juvenile humour (that "I'm gonna touch myself tonight" was very Internet-like childishness), but..I don't think they earned it or pulled it off right. Hope the movie turns out great, though.

    • @shadowquote4431
      @shadowquote4431 9 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Paradox Acres Um, that's kind of his personality in the first place. Deadpool is supposed to be immature as shit. He's bi-polar (tri-polar would be more accurate though), psychotic, and doesn't have to worry about dying.
      Needless to say, he's definitely not for everyone. This movie should be an instant cult hit.

    • @paradoxacres1063
      @paradoxacres1063 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Shadow Quote Dude, I've read Deadpool comics. I _know_ what his character's like.
      I'm just saying that, judging from the trailer alone, the humour seems a bit off.

    • @THX31097
      @THX31097 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      But Deadpool is an over-the-top childish character that happens to be extremely violent, so it's not a fault with the movie; you just don't like Deadpool or the sense of humor that he conveys.

      Broadwaychica You act like movies don't make enough money already. They already charge you 20$ for popcorn, and another 20 for the movie and another 20 if you buy 3d glasses. They make WAYYY more money than what they should.

    • @Arctic022
      @Arctic022 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      MuffinMan888 You're missing the point. This video is about how fan-demanded films are generally unsuccessful at the box office which is why studios don't make them. Andre is imploring you to see this film in theatres so this film turns a profit and the Fox Execs are happy and future films fans demand are made. By buying a ticket for another film and sneaking in Deadpool earns no money from it, and it defeats the point of seeing it in theatres.
      Also, you should do some research on how theatres work. They may charge you $12 or whatever per ticket, but most of that money goes back to the studios (e.g. Fox, Sony, Disney, etc.) for the first month of a release (they keep like $2 per ticket off a $12 ticket). After a month, they are able to keep 80%, but the rest still goes to the studios. Theatres don't make as much money as you think off tickets, and that's why they upcharge their goods (like food, posters, etc.) to outrageous prices.

    Nailed it. Casual audiences for sports and entertainment are the hardest to please. They swing moods by the second, don't care about content, jump on bandwagons...yet the world still needs to play to them as they are a massive amount of the population. Something hitting home from your video that made me comment is that I was listening to some sports radio as I like sports as much as all things geek. The host who does like some geeky things flat out said he hates super hero movies as he claims there are no true ones. He went specifically to Deadpool as an example, writing him off as not a super hero but a guy in tights throwing one liners. That is actually a view of many casual viewers in the world to that trailer, and sure it angers us geeks and nerds and fans, but it's sadly reality.
    So indeed despite the height of geek fandom, keep it going strong as the casuals are alsways going to outnumber everyone-a scary thought especially when getting into other things in life like politics but something that to play off Jon Stewart's closing monologue about BS needs to be met with vigilance, then casualness needs to be met with careful but consistent good reviews and recommendations by the hardcore fans to the casual fans and friends. Keep up the good work; the Pixels review was something else and I know since you went to see it here in Canada where some of it was filmed and came to be an awesome part of ConBravo! Take care!

    This is the most accurate rant I've heard in a while, Everything he said was spot on, from the fact that Guardians of The Galaxy's success to the unfortunate performance of Scott Pilgrim (still one of my favorite movies ever), so if we get a really good Deadpool movie which I'm really hoping for, then we need to do our jobs as comic book fans and spread the word to our less enlightened friends so we can push the superhero / comic book movie medium forward. BTW an R rated Spawn would be so F*cking tight

    Here's why I feel superhero movies are always hits ahemm......PG13 THE TEENS THE KIDS make it a success now I know everyone is like deapool is for adult adults only and that's a problem like guardians of the galaxy kids would love that movie especially there parents.They would like the avengers because avengers is more of a kids area deapool will sell but will this be the last time we see him in theatres

      Kolo Day So true, I'm not expecting Avengers money from Deadpool, but if it least makes profit first weekend and then some, it will be seen as a success for the studios to make a sequel and more films like it. Plus R-Rated movies are proving to do better in the box office than they have in the past thanks to the comedies we've gotten over the past few years. But yes, nothing can stop that teen money! Ask Hunger Games, Harry Potter and Divergent :)

      Mani Davis So true. It just feels like such a cheap source of comedy used by people who don't have the wit or talent to write something that actually is clever. So they just fall back on using "self aware" humor as a crutch. But it just comes across as forced, and desperate. Like it's trying too hard. It's one of the reasons why i didn't like Sunset Overdrive.

      One movie that could be a great R-Rated film is D.C. Universe's Doomsday. Doomsday could be a good example. He's has bone spikes that can pierce through kryptonian skins, he has a regeneration where what every killed him, he's ineffective to what killed him, and probably D.C.'s strongest villian since he's the only one who could kill Superman. A movie Doomsday could be great R-Rated movie.

      Kolo Day I also just gave Black Nerd Comedy the same kind of message, I agree with you more PG-13 flicks means less annoyed parents cause their kids are screaming on the floor wanting to watch a R rated film and it means that if they start to make more R rated films it'll ruin Hollywood because there's not many appropriate kids/teens movies. I get horror or comedy films like ''Paranormal Activity or Vacation'' but super hero movies turning into ''R'' rated.THAT'S JUST WRONG! just because CGI or Animated films are considered ''for kids'', does not mean we cant watch cool movies, so plss,who ever is creating the DeadPool movie please, make it PG-13!

    *ALL* of my friends were so excited for Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. They were so hyped for the movie, it encouraged me to read the comics. And yet, *I* was the only one who legitimately paid for a movie ticket and saw it in theaters. They just sat at home, pirate'd it, and hid behind the excuse that "Hollywood makes too much money as it is."
    ...Still alittle salty about that...

    I will definitely agree with you on this one Andre. People have been begging, pleading and crying out for a Deadpool movie and from what we've seen so far, I suspect it will be a box office smash hit if word of mouth does it's job and gives it a proper recommendation. Even if people don't know the origin of Deadpool, I think they'll see the trailer and realize three things: 1) it's funny and people love funny 2) it has a ton of action and is on the gritty side (like, real gritty) and 3) it's a different style than most movies have been in the past and I think that will translate well to audiences. I hope to God that it won't turn out like Green Lantern, that would be the worst possible thing to happen.
    Play cousins, I implore you to heed Andre's words and tell everyone you know about this movie! We all want it to be given the justice it deserves and if it takes off like it should, future superhero/comic book movies will follow in it's footsteps and Hollywood [hopefully] will realize that this is the type of thing we want to see. Deadpool, you are our future. Don't screw it up! No pressure. 😀

    I'm one of those few you mentioned that knows Deadpool and his origins. When I first saw him in New Mutants, I wanted to know more about this character, and that was hard without internet back then. I was a Wolverine junkie at the time, and hooked on Carnage from Spidey's story lines. I enjoyed Deadpool's first 2 mini series, but was really hooked on his '97 run. Marvel blew my mind when they finally did Deadpool Vs. Carnage last year. So your question for a R rated movie I want. No doubt Maximum Carnage. If they stay with the source material and push the Carnage character to Heath Ledger status, that you truly fear that guy on the screen. I'll be in the movie theater ever day until they put it on Blu-ray.

    Hey there Andre. Love the video, just wanted to share my thoughts. I honestly think Deadpool won't be a crazy "hit", but it won't flop horribly. I think it'll do decently enough to warrant a sequel. A rated R comic movie especially a Deadpool one, is a risk, but with Deadpool it's a different set of circumstances. Because it that's a character that really has no limits, and you have to have fun with. From what I've seen, Ryan Reynolds and co. are going all out for this movie, and embracing the crazy world the character lives in. Dredd had a horrible promotion campaign, and it got swept under the rug because people probably thought it was a continuation of the Sly Stone series, or they plain just didn't hear about it because of the short time it was in the theater for. But it caught fire on Netflix, and there's a huge demand for a sequel.
    This is all after the fact, but there is a market out there for the oddball movies. I'm crossing my fingers that Deadpool does some good business, and gets the recognition it deserves. I think it'll be like the 1st Kick Ass. People won't expect it to be as good as it is, until they see it. Fan service is a risky venture, because it can alienate the general audience, but if done right, it can win the day! Shine on my dear Nerd, keep the videos coming!

    Take note that DC also had Ambush Bug, who was very similar as a character that knew he was in a comic book, broke the fourth wall, and was around for years. I do believe Deadpool is a lot less obscure than you think, though. The big reason? Successful video games that had him in it. Heck, things like Marvel Ultimate Alliance really gave him a lot more exposure to the point that it seemed eventually more people heard of him, and his crazy banter, than those who even knew what Guardians of the Galaxy was. If they sell it right, they could get quite an audience who'd love to see the humor of a self-referential superhero.

    I really hate it when people are like "Oh Deadpool, he's so funny! He knows he's a fictional character!" Yes, Deadpool breaks the fourth wall regularly, but not ALL THE TIME, ALWAYS, NON-STOP addressing the audience. He's about way more than that, the self-awareness is only a part of what makes him great.

    Once again, I'm sure someone has already pointed this out in the 1000+ comments below, but there was at least one other character I can recall who Broke The 4th Wall: She-Hulk (when she had her own comic written by John Byrne).
    One of my favorite 'wall breaking' bits for her was when she walked across the two pages of Ads to get to another scene (this was still back when comics had ad pages in them) ^_^.
    They never explained how she was able to do that, but I had my own 'head canon' for it: she was secretly granted that ability by the Impossible Man (a antagonist of the Fantastic Four, who is one of the Elders of the Universe, and has Odin-like Cosmic Powers). Impossible Man's focus is Comedy/laughter/Chaos, and I thought he just had a wild hair and granted some random super hero the ability to see 'reality' for a time, and then erased her memory of it when he was done.

The time made up for the average adult is filled up with work and family. Average cinema viewer - teenagers. Average viewer that watches movies at home on Netflix etc - adult.

No mask, no funny remarks, just jaw dropping, action packed, suspenseful movie! I cant leave out a great script! If this movie lives up to the comics, and animated shows it will not just open doors for future movies but it will make up for the first flop in the box office, and get back the fans that the first movie lost! On another note, keep up the good work I love ur videos, and I'm a huge fan! If u can tell me how u feel about this idea!
