Up til about 3 years ago, I lived just two blocks from Washington Park. You turned your camera off just before passing our house. My Dad would walk the Washington Park loop every morning, and learned to carry a stick, after being confronted by coyotes one day!
There was a whole clan of deer that lived around us, and they all slept right behind my bedroom!
That was lovely to see my old home area in your video. I’m living in a very land-locked area now, near Detroit, and I sure do miss the water an awful lot!
OMG at 6:31, 6:32, when you’re saying the words “mainly due to copyright..” that house on the left, is the one that we lived in! Big, 2-story, with chimney in between the windows! Wow! that’s my house!

Great video Russ!Deception Pass is an amazing place. State Parks on both sides of the bridge. Mostly day use with limited camping on the north side and a huge campground on the south. Fort Casey is about half way down the Island and is well worth a visit. There were forts on both sides of the Straights to protect the inland waters of Puget Sound after WWI and through WWII, Fort Casey and Fort Ebby on Whidbey Island and Fort Warden and Fort Flagler on the Peninsula. Nice little campground below Fort Casey with a Ferry Landing right in front of the campsites.

Been here 35 years and I'm still not finished seeing what Washington State has to offer in the way of beautiful places. Deception Pass is a great one though. Enjoy the rest of your journey back south.
Deception Pass (a norrow channel) is known for the water commotion during changes of the tide. Powerful eddys.

In the mid 80's I walked across the Deception Pass bridge, still recall the feeling of vertigo I would call it looking straight down to the water. Actually spent maybe an hour or so there taking it all in, TY for the fond memory it brought forward.

Thanks for moving the camera so we could see on each side of Deception Pass. It was all beautiful and can't imagine what it must be like to be there and actually see the panoramic view. Elks -I wondered how much you've saved staying at Elks, then when you said $12 wow! where else could you stay for $12?!! Looks beautiful! I saw you went through Oak Harbor as well... what's your opinion on Oak Harbor in comparison to Anacortes Russ? Bigger/smaller more to do, less to do etc? Keep up the great work!
I love Anacortes was. I stayed there for a month and fell in love with it. To bad you did not go over to La Conner which is next door to Anacortes. You would of seen some amazing yatchs and the houses are cute Victorian style. Love your videos.

Every time I see one of those tankers I cringe thinking about what a huge disaster they could cause. Think Exxon Valdez. That area is still messed up even after all these years.

Really pretty up there. Hubby is retired military and we have talked about staying on bases as we go across the country. I'm wondering now, if he maybe should join the Elk's. I don't know if there are as many on the east coast as out there, but they sure have been available for you.
