It could take 2 weeks to really do Whidbey justice. Every town has its own special quality. Fort Casey and the light house all the way to Clinton and the ferry over to Everett. Now you know what you'll want to see next visit!!
I believe it, we were disappointed that we ran out of time! We look forward to returning when we're able to camp there and spend more time. Thanks, Candie!!
It was great to see Whidbey Island. My grandson is a Naval aircrewman, and Whidbey is his homebase. He sent us pictures of Deception Pass, but your video is much more detailed. We live in Texas and hope to visit Whidbey and see our grandson when he is not on a mission overseas.
I scrolled through a bunch of comments and didn't see this, just so you know , the g in Skagit is soft, like the j in jelly. Yes, this is an awesome area.
We loved this video, and noted the brief look at the mighty A-6 Intruder and Prowler aircraft on display near NAS Whidbey. I flew the A-6 for almost twenty years, and we loved our time there in the northwest stationed at Whidbey in the 1980’s. You brought back many fond memories for us! Floridians now, but maybe we will hit Deception Pass again one day. Thank you!
So pretty. Thanks for sharing. My best friend from grade school lives up in the area of LaConner. We’ve been up once to see her but would love to go back again.
If you get a chance, head up to Bellingham to check out their downtown and seaport. Then head east up to Artist Point at Mt Baker. You will be awestruck.
Just wanted to take a moment to tell you both how much we've enjoyed "traveling" with you over the past few years. Looking forward to more adventures when this pandemic is over.
The cinema photography of your videos has always been superb!!! I look forward to vicariously traveling with you!! I don't venture far from Texas....except when you take me somewhere in your videos! I had 2 different 2-day trips planned this month.....but became ill, was hospitalized and had to cancel my trips. But I will be out and about in Texas in a few weeks. Safe travels and thanks again for taking us along.
Great video, have been watching yours for a long time, we like the way you recently started the intro and the narrating, my likes your voice she says it's soothing and relaxing to listen to you, 🙂 keep safe, 👍👍👍
We enjoy your videos each week .thanks for the effort you put in them each week we know even in these tough times it’s difficult to keep videos coming. Thanks so much.
Just a heads up on pronouncing local place names: Skagit is pronounced with a soft g (like a j sound) and Ebey Is pronounced with two long EEEEs. EEBee.
Omg I liv on whidbey island I have my hole entire life! Also where you took the thumbnail I have been there me and my family call it higher then the birds because it goes vary high up 😂 it’s just like a funny nickname
Fellow Floridian here. Just caught up watching all your videos from start to finish( it took a couple months). Have really enjoyed your travels. I like how you tell it like it is! Looking forward to you getting back on the road, as I'm sure you are! God bless!
I camped in La Conner in 2011, there’s a thousand trails campground there, we dropped crab pots in the bay and brought home 36 Dungeness crabs, all while kayaking is the bay, also took a day trip to San Juan Islands, beautiful area, you guys make such awesome videos, thank you!
We didn't have a perfect blue sky day for it but it was beautiful nonetheless. I was happy to see the sun make an appearance for the end of the day at least, made for a perfect closing shot 🌅 Thank you, Ron 😊
I read about that and considered adding some info about it in the video but couldn't find a good spot for it. I actually watched a YT video of a guy kayak surfing the free standing waves in Deception Pass, maybe it was you?! 🌊
Big tidal exchanges between the two islands through the pass. Sometimes currents over 9 mph and whirlpools. With strong winds it can get really nasty. I wouldn’t go through on extreme ebb or flood tides but at milder times it’s a great place to practice skills.
It was nice to see Whidbey from a visitors perspective! I live on Camano Island so I am very familiar with Whidbey. Definitely a gorgeous area to live in!
Thanks for taking us on another beautiful adventure. It is great that you guys are getting out and exploring despite the limitations placed on all of us during this time. I have a friend who is a long time resident of Whidbey island. He and his wife absolutely love it there. I can see why. I wish I had found the time to go visit him in years gone by. Stay safe. I loved the shot of the two dogs looking out over the ocean from higher up. Great work on that piece!!
Our pleasure, thank you for coming along! It's such a pretty island, we were surprised by how much of it is still rural. We hope you're able to go visit and see it for yourself one of these days. Glad you enjoyed the video - as always, thank you for the well wishes, kind words, and for watching and commenting!
@@EmbracingDetours You're very welcome. You guys take a little bit of drabness out of our days. We hope to be able to take our 5th wheel somewhere soon.
We live on Camano Island and often visit Whidbey. So many great places to explore and just spend time, takes more than a day to see all the islands have to offer. We saw you heading north as we were exiting I-5 on the 10th, apparently you were on you way to this adventure. Keep the great videos coming.
Oh this made me homesick. I left Seattle 15yrs ago for the Ozark in Arkansas... Make time to visit a few of the San Juan Islands before you leave the area.
Thanks to a combination of hard work and good fortune we have a couple of very well behaved dogs - they're not perfect but they're pretty darn good. Thanks, Jay 🐶
Thank you for posting a really great vid and showcasing this fabulous place to visit. We did similar to you but in the opposite direction 8 years ago. Love this part of the US and hope to go back there again some day.
Thank you for that great tour of Whidbey Island. I love the old barns as where we live in Northern Nevada there's always annual barn tours of all the old barns in Carson Valley.
Oh wow, the old barn tours in Carson Valley sound awesome, we'll have to keep that in mind if we find ourselves back in that area 👍Glad you enjoyed our video of Whidbey, thanks for watching and commenting Roger!
At first I thought that deer had his hoof out thumbing for a ride 🤣 We so enjoy your videos - your sense of perspective, motion, music choice and editing is first class. Makes it a joy to watch y’all! Thanks again for taking us along for the ride - and all the best as you inch closer to getting back on the road 👍😎
Love the video and the area. The only downside I see for me is that none of this great tech existed back to this degree in 99-01 while I was stationed there. I traveled all over the island but didn't have the means to document it like YT's are doing today! Keep sharing!
Small world, we must have passed each other on the road! We were disappointed to see the bridge such a mess, made it a little difficult to get good shots of it with caution tape and everything else in the way.
Nice video. Love that area and hope to visit soon, but so sad for Seattle and the nonsense downtown. Stay safe. Looking forward to you getting back on the road.
Wasn't that crazy how the deer was fearless to our very large, very loud van?! Glad you enjoyed the video, we agree the views around there are 😍Thank you for watching, commenting and the well wishes!
Embracing Detours that deer was pretty funny. It’s interesting how wildlife become comfortable around humans 🤔 but scary as you don’t want to hurt them. Like being in Yellowstone!
Let me tell you, it was tempting... let's just say it was a good thing he didn't follow us back to the van lol We hope you guys are well, you're in Yellowstone now, right?
Bri, so you have to tell me why you hike with that giant yellow purse! It looks so uncomfortable to lug around. But I pretty much never do a shoulder bag... only crossbody or backpacks with hip belts so my shoulders don't die. I'm a wuss. Anyhow, you know I look forward to your videos every week!!
TJ, I think you and Bri will have to drive back there to the island and find that field again when they are harvesting and find out for sure what it is !. If it is wheat its not one I am familiar with as that flat head with what could be described as a two row head ( like two row barley ) does indeed look like two row bearded barley somewhat but I haven't been around rye and due to how advanced it is I wonder if its a fall rye that was planted last fall. They would have such a different growing season then I am used to so it could even be a spring crop seeded early in the spring. I guess we will never know for sure but its fun guessing.
Hi, TJ. Yes, that is wheat. My brother has worked for a grain elevator for 30 years and he says that's definitely wheat. As a matter of fact, he starts wheat harvest in about a week or so.
I was born in Whidbey Island and try to make it back every few years or so... you did fabulous job on the video portraying Whidbey❤️ Go hop over to the San Juan Islands... Friday Harbor has kayak with the whales and Susie’s moped... if there still there.
3/3💐Ask Whidbey “Deception Pass bridge” , if it may .. breeze only a gentile wend on her way. 💐Steps that she is taking when she cross .. all will seed Rose flowers every day..! The song 🎵 is coming soon
What a beautiful area and a beautiful video! I liked your unique camera placement for some of the shots!👍 The dog “you picked up” looks exactly like mine! Thanks Bri & TJ!🥰👍🎉⛰🌲🦌🏔🌱🍀🗻🌿🌾
You have a yellow lab?! Labs are TJ's favorite dog but we opted for something a little smaller when we got our two. They are wonderful dogs though!! Glad you enjoyed the video, Loran - thank you 🤗
We bought our Airstream used - we purchased in 2017, it's a 2012 30' International Serenity. We've been very happy with it, it's fit our needs these past 3 years perfectly. As our fur-family gets smaller, I could see us going smaller one day just to give us more mobility, but we don't have any plans for that anytime soon. We are very, very comfortable in our home on wheels.
I lived on Whidbey for 22 years. It's always interesting to see where visitors chose to visit.
I live 7 minutes south of the bridge on the Whidbey side and it’s definitely paradise ❤

Some nice little hikes in that area of deception pass
WOW!!! in 1971 while in training at the NAS at Whidbey Island we camped there and fished overnight. A beautiful place.
What a wonderful memory! Thank you for sharing and for watching and commenting, Ronald 👍

It reminds me of the barley that my grandfather grew on his farm, but rye also looks like that
That looks about like every other trip we make to Whidbey. Cloudy. But on the other days that are sunny and warm! Very nice! Thanks for sharing.
Just a heads up on pronouncing local place names: Skagit is pronounced with a soft g (like a j sound) and Ebey Is pronounced with two long EEEEs. EEBee.
Thank you! When I heard her say SkaGit I nearly threw up my lunch. Ebey is definitely a commonly tricky one.
Great video, well behaved dogs, beautiful sunset, stay safe!!
Nice road trip
We really look forward to your videos! I especially love all of the different landscapes that you include in the videos....thank you so much!
You all look more relaxed,,not so stressed,,that is a good thing! :)

Wow some great places to hike . Thanks for sharing makes me want to out there also. Yes don’t we all want to get out exploring more☺️

A pretty trip it was good to see the color of the trees and the water.

Fast tidal currents at Deception Pass make for exciting sea kayaking experiences. One of my favorite paddling destinations.

I was there 2 years ago with my daughters and son-in-laws as a day trip at Deception Pass
Deception pass is one of our favorite weekend loops around here. Skagit is pronounced with a hard G", as in legit. Yes I'm OCD...LOL. Nice video!!
As everyone has said...excellent video. Another addition to my "we gotta go there" list. Thanks.
I was just up there last week! Isn’t that bridge a peach. I lived up there for 30 years and NEVER saw that bridge in such disrepair!
