Thank you so much for watching! I hope this video will be helpful for some people and if you have any tips on what should be in your feeding tube (or medical) backpack please comment them!! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!💚
My moms tryna convince me to get a GJ tube I’ve been an NG ND ans I’m currently on an NJ tube I’m reluctant to get a surgical tube as I’m worried abt the side effects I would love for u to do a video of the pros and cons of a sergical tube
@@lucydodds6603 That's a good video idea! I also wondered if the GJ tube is a reversible surgery, if another viable treatment option is found later on. Thankfully Mestinon (Pyridostigmine) has been the best gastroparesis treatment option for me, so I haven't needed any surgical treatment yet. Hoping your doctors can find a good non-surgical option for you as well!
That’s a good idea! In the meantime definitely do some research on both and discuss with your doctor on what option might be best for you! Surgical tubes are scary but are more beneficial if you know that you need it long term.
this video was so wonderfully informative! it’s really cool that you implement other people’s recommendations into your backpack, like i remember seeing specific comments on your videos talking about the emergency bag and stuff. it’s so wholesome seeing fellow GP warriors helping each other out 💚
Thank you so much!! And that comment I received was sooo helpful I’m so thankful to have a wonderful support system! I love that we can all help each other out too!💚
I always carry a small flashlight that uses two AA batteries, tweezers, a small screwdriver set, small scissors, band-aids, painter's tape, and a few clean Zip-Loc bags with me.
@@KennaKrueger Change of clothes could be useful. My travel backpack that I take on car trips and airplanes has a sleeveless shirt and swim trunks that have built-in underwear. Those articles of clothing don't take up much space.
This video was so helpful! My GI started talking about me needing a J tube last week. Now I can start a list for supplies. Hope the new formula is working out.
Yay that makes me so happy!! Feeding tubes can be intimidating but preparing for one and learning to understand that it is ultimately for the best and will help with your nutrition makes it better. Good luck!! And this formula is still working out well for me and I am so thankful!
Sorry you might need a tube. Hoping it all goes well for you, and you can feel better! The only thing that prevented me from needing a tube was the medication Mestinon (Pyridostigmine). That's the one they give when all other medications don't work, but before resorting to surgical options.
you should have a medical card in your backpack! especially if you sometimes go out by yourself. you can make one yourself and customize it, it should have your most important medical diagnoses for example (pots, gastroparesis, etc.), and maybe a short description of what they are and how they affect you. also putting a patch or pin on your backpack making it clear that you have a disability. that's something I'm planning on doing soon for uni! overall love your videos, you have about everything you need packed, good job
omg I can't believe I forgot about a medical card, that is such a good idea! I think I will look into making one once I figure out my heart stuff! The pin is also a really good idea!! This is so helpful thank you so so much. I am sending lots of love to you too!
hi! i also have a feeding tube, mine used to be g-j but now its only g :) I loved this video because it's cool to see someone who isn't in a wheelchair like me also need a feeding tube :) I have a rare disease called BBGD and i also make videos about it on my channel, so cool to see your take!!!
I’m the total opposite when it comes to vomiting.... any slight urge and I’m already puking. Wish I had your stomachs ability to “Override” the message . 😊
Aww no that must so exhausting I’m sorry :( the override is nice most of the time but sometimes I wish my body would just let myself throw up to ease the nausea a bit!
I've got to add some things to my bags, thanks so much for sharing! I don't carry it in my bag but use when i clean my site is Calmoseptine. It's for tube leakage and helps so much with irritation, helps relieve it so much! Maybe should carry some around haha i always carry alcohol wipes though. I still have my PEG version and worry about it touching things it shouldn't so always bring alcohol wipes to disinfect.
You’re welcome! I’ve never heard of calmlseptine I will have to look into that because sometimes my site gets irritated! I should definitely add some alcohol wipes in there too!
Take things one step at a time, track your symptoms, advocate for your health, find foods that cause you the least amount of symptoms and try to stick with those, be open to trying treatment options your doctor gives you, have a good support system and research a lot about the condition and what helps it and makes it worse! I know it’s scary but just take it one step at a time, you got this!

I have separate G and J tubes as well as a double lumen hickman. My whole purse is medical supplies.
Love the backpack color... so neutral you almost don’t notice it! Plus it goes with everything 👍🏻
yes that is what I love about this backpack too and was a big reason I chose it!

I thought after the surgery everything might have sorted...lots of love.

Gastroparesis can definitely be scary but I am happy this video helped in some way. I am wishing you the best of luck in your health journey!
