I've driven over Pacheco Pass hundreds of times, starting in the early 80s when I was a delivery driver between San Jose and Fresno. It used to be tremendously dangerous, being a narrow winding two lane mountain road most of the way. It is one of two main commercial truck routes into the SF Bay Area from the central valley and highways 5 and 99, and consequently has heavy truck traffic going both directions... especially in the early morning hours, as truckers doing overnight hauls from SoCal try to get to their end points by 7:00 or 8:00 AM in the Bay Area. Sleepy drivers and big rigs on a narrow mountain road, often socked in with fog...
It's much better now, with only a couple miles of undivided narrow road left, but it's still a road to be taken with care. Sadly, I can say that in all the trips I've taken over the pass, I've never seen anything paranormal on that road. Just the ordinary, normal idiot drivers were scary enough.

Have driven this road many times From Watsonville to Gilroy. Once we were driving behind a mini van, we got really lose to it because it was driving under 20 mph. As we passed it my niece's boyfriend and I just gasped and looked at each other, sitting in the passenger side was a lady with pointy ears and long white hair...not sure if they were pranking us but it was creepy.

We lost a dear family member in 2014 hit head on by a semi truck. She had her favorite dogs with her…… it was traumatic that I can imagine her soul is probably still attached to the spot along with one of her dogs. Have driven by the exact spot several times and still feel her shock and pain facing the split seconds of the end of her life😢🥺😭

When I was young, maybe 9 or 10, my family was driving to Casa de Fruta and somewhere along Pacheco Pass we began to hear horses neighing. Thinking it was the radio my dad turned the volume down but the noise continued. It’s as if it was coming from inside our car. Stopped after a minute or so but by far the weirdest experience I ever had. Still can’t explain wtf that was.

I driven over the pass hundreds of times. Night and day. Only thing I ever saw was a man in a duster and cowboy hat on the side of the road north bound couple miles passed casa de fruita. That was wild. Not one to really believe in ghosts and all that but I sure had a weird feeling after that one.

I live in Fresno now, but used to live in Santa Cruz. I would drive back and forth pretty often to visit my parents here in Fresno. I usually went in the middle of the night to avoid traffic and it was super creepy on Pacheco Pass, never seen anything though. I would drive Mt. Madonna Rd near Gilroy and that was dark, woodsy, curvy and super creepy. My dad was a truck driver in the 80’s and lost his breaks on Pacheco Pass. Luckily, there was a more experienced driver near that coached him and walked him through how to downshift and used his truck to help. Creeps me out that my dad could have been one of those ghost stories. Oddly enough he did end up dying in a motorcycle crash a couple of years later on a dark country road near Exeter. He might be someone’s ghost story over there. Who knows.

I used to live in Valley of Enchantment/Crestline area of California. It was up in the mountains and the roads were mostly switch back curves and it was heavily wooded as it went thru the national forest. On our stretch of road it was straight for about 2 city blocks and there was a sharp turn at the end. Anyway, it was a full moon night and my brother and I were up late having a few beers on the porch. Outta nowhere a cherry red 57 Chevy came roaring out of the darkness speeding down the stretch. We heard the breaks squeal loudly as it came to the turn and the sound of a horrible crash followed... it woke up our neighbors and we ran down to were we could see the turn. We expected the worst as we peered down to the power pole right before the turn and saw nothing but a low hanging fog... We were shocked to say the least. Our neighbors went back to bed but my bro and I were spooked. Next morning we told our dad about what happened and before we could tell him what the car looked like he described it. We are more shocked than ever and he says" Yeah it comes thru here once a year" thoughtfully sipping his coffee.."but u never see it after it crashes". My dad had lived there for years. It no longer fazed him.

Came up in my feed. Clicked so fast, to see if the fwy I had an experience on would be listed. 1996 rainy evening I was driving with my mom to try on my altered wedding dress. There was an apparition of a woman in a white dress walking along a hillside about 15 ft from the on ramp. She was not from this century. I asked my mom if she saw what I saw. She said yes. I turned back around and she was gone. It was pouring rain but she wasn’t wet while walking. 78 east bound fwy San Marcos.

Pacheco Pass was called Blood Alley back in the '60s and '70s. There were so many accidents it was horrible. We used to camp all over California and that's a route that you have to take to go south or east from a third of the State. We'd expect to come upon something it was so 'normal'. Big rigs, bikers, boaters, campers, family cars.
It's not like that anymore; still, I once drove alone to visit my cousin in Fresno and going through there it was an unusual floaty wavey fog and I realized I was the only car on the road for quite awhile which is not normal. 10a.m. on a weekday.

I remember that they used to call Monterey highway before it was 101 Blood Alley. My elementary school was Encinal elementary on Monterey Highway just a two-way road on one side and a two-way road the other side before they even put a cement barrier between it, there was constant big rigs overturned once overturning tomatoes just flew all spilled on the road all by her school. It was crazy.

Supposedly the boy went mad and flayed his father alive and ran into the burning woods where he was either disfigured but survived or died and is now a burnt and deformed ghost.

Hwy 12 traveling from Fairfield backroad to Lodi that you can cut through 5. It’s a two way lane and many peoples lost their lives bypassing vehicle with using broken lane to pass. I live in Fairfield and been using that HWY 12 all the time to go to San Diego. It is especially scary late or early morning when it gets foggy. Never saw a ghost but heard many stories about vehicle passing through the broken lane. A few years ago, a family that were trying to cut a semi-truck but the Corolla couldn’t pass through and the oncoming semi-truck ran right through them killing the family. If your car is too slow to pass on a one lane highway, don’t do it.

You don't have anything in Northern California
Lovall Valley Road in Sonoma goes to Lovall Valley where there was a huge massacre of Native Americans ordered by President Lincoln. Sonoma is THE most haunted town in California . . . Chinese tunnels, the old Embarcadero, the Whipping Tree, the white cross on the hill where the ghost of the white schoolteacher killed in the massacre haunting there, the Rattlesnake and Bear ritual sacrifice that took place thousands of years the field of which contains the bodies of chiefs and shamans, hundreds of bodies buried under the street next to the Mission Sonoma. My son saw a Native woman ♀️ n the courtyard of the Mission. My camera got many paranormal photos at the Whipping Tree. Sonoma County Developmental Center contains the ghosts of survivors of the Philadelphia Experiment held on the Eldridge. The SCDC is in Eldridge California near Sonoma. A 10-year-old white boy tried to explore a Chinese tunnel and got lost. The townspeople mapped the tunnel at 17 miles long but never found him, although his ghost still resides there. Other strange people haunting: Chief Solano, the Dinner children, the Mexican outlaw Joaquin Murrieta. A friend of mine does ghost tours in Sonoma. Her name is Carla Heine. She grew up in a haunted Adobe which was is now a historical monument where Lincoln quartered his troops. There were several murders there. I realize it's mostly a town but the roads are haunted too and lots of UFO activity. I always feel a multi-dimensional vibe there and if you talk to the homeless they have seen very strange sights.

Interesting that you mentioned Lovall Vally Rd. Was born in Sonoma. My grandparents lived in Sonoma for 25 years. I’m remember riding my bike up Lovall Valley Rd past Ild Winery Rd. back in the early 1960’s. I was 8 years old. As I was riding, for some reason I stopped. Looked around, and sensed I was being watched. I hightailed down the hill, got home, and never went back till sometime in the 1980’s. There used to be a turkey farm at the end of the road.

The only dangerous part about it, is the amount rail-less roads, fast drivers that 90+ mph, and rainy/foggy weather that can both happen at the same time. In 1913, on the Pacheco Pass, my Great-great grandmother, Kitty Irene, and her daughter, Marion, were in a carriage accident after the horses tripped. The carriage rolled over Kitty and crushed her ribs. She passed a couple days after at home in Los Banos. Marion survived, grew up and was married, but passed in a sanitarium at a young age (27, if I remember correctly).

First timer to your videos, thank you for the info!! I live in Santa Clara, and we travel Pacheco Pass often, to head to L.A and my sons Dads family lives in Gustine (Next to Santa Nella). We went to Casa De Fruta last week and a car was being dumb and tried going around another car and was coming head on to us. Thankfully there was a big shoulder and the car was a 8 car lengths ahead. Have to be very careful cuz some people aren't! When I was about 15, my Mom and I were coming back from L.A and we were on 152, pulled off to go to the bathroom we were by the Dinosaur reserve. I seen this emerald green orb behind me and froze, then it stopped. My Mom told me to hurry up and she threw the car in drive, I jumped in and the orb was bouncing towards our car. Super trippy!

Yeap that road is scary,,,in 2011 in broad daylight commuters stopped to take pictures and video of a UFO object that was hovering over the reservoir moving back and forth at high speeds,,,also in 2010 a mile from the Merced county line by dinosaur point 2 bodies where found in a van that was set on fire….then the fog ,,,if you ever get caught in that fog,,,that is the scariest thing ever,,you can’t see anything ,,,so fog and restless souls on that over pass gives me goosebumps just thinking about it

You should check into the history of Norco, California. I don’t know the history, but I grew up there and the area where I grew up near Highland Elementary seems cursed. Everyone seems to have some sort of horrible deaths that have lived there. The prison that is in Norco used to be hospital in the early 1900’s, there’s something weird about that place!!

Nice video. I tried driving through proctor rd once. I only went in like 20 mins down the road before my daughter, who was 5 years old at the time, woke up in the car crying scared telling me she wanted to go home. I tried telling her everything was ok, but she was so scared and she couldn't stop crying. It wasn't until we were back in jamul that she calmed down and went back to sleep. I have been wanting to go down the road again.

Hicks Road in San Jose has a lot of local lore attached to it. I believe there was even a film made about it. I have never "seen" anything. My son and I used to fish the reservoirs on the top of Hicks Rd so I have driven it in the dark. Its a curvy mountain road with dense trees. All I can say is it feels very odd sometimes. Would not want to drive it alone in the dark.

Growing up I heard many stories of proctor valley from my dad and uncles who grew up just a mile from there. A lot of the ones you speak of I've encountered on my own as I took a dare to spend the night out there. The ones I encountered are the scream from the lady in white, the hand print on my truck the native drums and random sounds that almost sounded like talking. Being that I'm now married with kids my wife does not want me around that area ever again she says I seem different after spending time out there

Never thought id hear the Dogwood one on TH-cam, figured it was too local haha. The hitchhiker ghost has been said to be either a young lady or an old woman so it varies. She is said to be in an all white gown, and supposedly like in the video, if you stop to pick her up she will sit in the back and say nothing, then when you glance away she'll be gone the next time you look back. I've heard of 2 different sightings, one where the old woman seemed to have both her feet missing, and the other sighting was the younger woman swinging around on a road sign in the middle of nowhere then when they turned around to offer a ride she was gone. Supposedly if you mock her she will suddenly appear in your backseat and those people end up crashing

Long story short, I saw a "phantam vehicle aka ghost car" on Angeles Crest Highway. If anyone wants exact coordinates and directions, if you sit there long enough and on enough nights, it'll pass right next to you, no joke. I have never had the chance to go back and do this, but I bet it goes by often, like a broken record...bad accidents have occurred at the spot, besides an old, gigantic water/city tunnel right underneath the spot, and more! Let me know:)

I was driving back from Orange County back home to San Francisco and I accidentally got stuck on the 99 freeway the way to 101 I could take it west to Pacheco Pass and connect myself to the 101 freeway and I remember driving through it and it seems like I was driving for hours, which was in actuality a 45 minute drive to the 101 freeway a time trap sort of weird feeling very very creepy intense feeling when I drive through there. My dad lived on Hecker Pass Highway on 152 in Gilroy and that road always scared me. There was a lot of accidents when I was in high school my my girlfriends brother let his girlfriend drive his car she’s driving she reaches back. This is in 1983 to grab a cassette tape quickly and then all that since she hits four bicyclist one after the other on the side of the road killed all of them it was horrific something about that area just creeps me out that was on a hacker Pass Highway 152 in Gilroy which comes right off Pacheco Pass always drive with your lights on cause there’s always just weir fog even in the day sometimes , also make sure your car has plenty of gas before you get there because you just never want to break down or run out of gas so I would always check my tires and my water at the gas station before I would drive through there I just always did that

Would like to see a team do a ghost investigation one day on this highway. last one I heard of was an old retired couple from Europe on vacation think a gas truck took them out week later 20 bikers got taken out and they found a young college girl and her car and a murder victim john dow etc etc that's just in a two week time frame.

Was Ol' "Joaquin Murrieta " one of those two most notorious Bandits who robbed and murdered people along Pacheco Pass you touched on ? Everyone here interested in such might read up on the notorious Joaquin Murrieta. He plays real heavily into the early history of California and my own hometown "Tracy, CA" where I grew up and had 5 Generations of family. He had an Irish San Patricio Cohort named "Carrol of Corral Hollow" who helped him evade the Law and Posses who used the overlooks from Altamont Pass through Corral Hollow/Tesla Road Area to signal with Mirrors and Smoke any traps lying in wait on the Valley Floor or foothills.

In Marin County the road over Whites Hill from Fairfax to San Geronimo Valley is a short stretch with a reputation for many fatal accidents . I am not sure about the older road over the Hill that runs below the newer one constructed in the early 1950’s . I grew up there and hunted Deer in those Hills sleeping out at night countless times and never experienced anything strange. Some people say the area is Haunted and there were stories around the Turn of the century of a Ghost Train. The old rail line had been changed because the Engines had trouble getting over in to the San Geronimo Valley on their way to Cazedero . A long trestle was later constructed spanning the valley on the Fairfax side and leading to a long tunnel through the Hill into Woodacre. Before that A engine had flipped on its side on a turn trying to maintain momentum to get it over the hill where the road today goes through the pass. Two maintenance workers were killed when their Hand cart encountered a train out of San Rafael in a narrow cut that can be seen across the valley from the Sir Francis Drake Blvd. going over the Hill. A B-17 crashed on top of the Hill with fatalities at the End of World War 2 See B-17 Whites Hill. Many of these ghost stories and claims of hearing wailing , moaning lamentations, train sounds during rainstorms etc. are made up by people to excite the imagination.
