Yeah, I agree. Been messing with 2 strokes myself for more than a year. That said, it is never exactly a good time, I mean, I'm into it, but even I get stressed the H out sometimes and wish I made better decisions.

It ran fine, in my opinion it's running a bit rich and I don't blame him with it being used on road, if he wanting it crisp he would go more lean nice on track but on road nah rather run rich and get more hours out the bike then have that crisp noise and get less hours out the top end, bike is fine

Also, idle is controlled by the pilot jet which hardly affects running rich, aka won’t affect the cylinder blabla too much as you I suppose are stating. @What’s not the braking part, he is talking about the engine itself. 2 strokes get oil from their fule and when you engine brake, your rpms are high but because you only have a carburetor your engine starves of oil
I owned a trx450 for 4 years and did some small mods so it was quick but nothing nuts. The first time a friend let me drive his also slightly modded banshee I could not believe how fast that thing was. It felt like a bike. The powerband was so real and felt almost like a turbo! Such a nutty machine! 2 strokes are incredible!
Absolutely loved the video! Just keep in mind you don't want to engine break on 2 strokes. They only really get direct oil contact when you're on the gas.

this is wrong, oil stays in the crankcase for a long ass time, you dont hurt it by engine braking. engine brake down a steep ass hill and tke the top end off, itll still be oily as fu. Ive been engine braking my street bike 2 strokes for over a decade with 10s of thousnds of miles with no harm done at all

Bad ass build! I love that. Yamaha powered Honda and owner is wearing a Kawasaki shirt. My only grips is the bike should start first kick at top-dead-center with no throttle. It was strange seeing you have to start with full throttle 🤔. Almost like theres something iffy with the fueling.
That bike sounds like its running rich down low which would explain the hard starting. The pilot circuit is not happy it shouldn't burp or sputter rolling on throttle (or die like it did at that stop sign) and its rough and too smokey at mid throttle. I would check the plugs and maybe thin out the main jet 1 or 2 sizes, make sure the air filter isn't dirty, and check the needle position. I'm not sure about the YZ but most carbs work best with second clip position from top. dropping the clip riches it and raising leans it. Also I would open up the air screw a quarter turn and see how the bike responds at idle and roll on throttle. Or she could just be cold in which case DO NOT rip it like that until she gets some heat into her.

this is the exact swap ive wanted to do on my grom since i got it just plan onletting the stock motor grenade itself and ill swap it then lol oh and also all stock groms that i have ridden or ridden around will all hit about 65-70 stock with no wind its the small things that matter on theses lol

You thinking your going to lean it out to make power be my guest. How many top ends have you replaced. The guy barely got that bike warmed up.

A stock grom goes 73 mph before the rev limiter kicks in. This guy spent 5k to increase his speed 95, which I have a hard time believing it even goes that fast lol. Probably closer to like 85-90. Mine being stock, I couldn't imagine dumping that much money for performance. Buy a larger bike if you wanna go fast lol buddy could have bought an r3 for what he spent lol

It's not a heavy bike at all, it's actually lighter than most 600s . I understand it's something unique, but it doesn't make any financial sense. Also being a 2 stroke you might have to refresh the top end quite frequently or it'll go into pieces

No throttle if choke is on, or you will surely flood. Hitting some throttle as you kick can help a tough starter.

50cc mopeds go 50mph stock with restrictions removed lmao tuned 70-80cc mopeds hit 140-150kmh easily
