The story of Larry Bird and Bill Lambier meeting on the bus during the all star game when Bill Lambier said “Hey Larry!” and Larry responded “Fuck you Bill!” is priceless

Rodman was better than Laimbeer because without Rodman the Bulls don't win another 3 NBA titles. Rodman fit the Bulls perfectly, Rodman loved to get rebounds and get the ball and Jordan loved to shoot the ball over 35 times a night.

@trackcoachmac ... Malone got Portland's Brian Grant above the eye on national TV during the playoffs . Grant was playing good clean D on him and were beating the jazz and Malone lost his cool and delivered dirty Many other players I recalled were recipients of his elbows
These days, whenever the subject of the dirtiest NBA player of all time comes up, I find that the top comments often name Draymond Green & Zaza Pachulia. Which is just laughable compared to the Bad Boys Pistons.
This is what the modern NBA needs. Now it's all friendships and podcasts, with players crying for a trade as soon as they don't win a title in a year or two. The sport has gone downhill because players are too buddy-buddy. I miss the days when guys like Laimbeer and Bird were hated by opponents, but beloved by their fanbase.
Bad Boy Pistons are so iconic dude. Bill being forced into the villain role only for Isiah to get injured the exact way Bill tried to injury everyone... like damn bro.
If he had focused more on his skillset and talent that he brought to the table, we could probably have watched a “Meet the most innovative center of NBA history” video. But instead he just chose to stay relevent by being a cheap player. The man was great, but so many people won’t see him as great because of his infamy. Which sure, that’s great, but he was playing against some of the best known names in the sport at the time. And many folks won’t remember him as the center who changed up and did so much for the position. Just as the guy who threw elbows and tried to roll peoples’ ankles.
The nba is missing alot because a player like bill would have a tough city loving him. And ppl from outside that city hating him. He’s not a superstar but man will a hard nosed city get behind a player like him something crazy
During the Bad Boy Pistons era, they had a philosophy, later adopted by the Bulls and the Knicks: the no lay up rule. Also , it's important to note that the Boston Celtics were no angels. I saw all those games in the eighties. Back then, I recall telling a sports reporter that he was going to test the Knick center, Patrick Ewing's injured hand he almost broke in one night in a game. So, Lambeer wasn't the only culprit on the hardwood.
guy who absolutely should be in HoF but will never be allowed (well, maybe as a WNBA coach; he was one of the best W coaches). He played hard and with 'win above everything' mentality which is good. But he is hated (and he worked really hard for this ;) ). I personally love his game (and Bad Boys generally; I love attitude 'I dont care what other say about me, I am here to win no matter what').
Bill Laimbeer did enough work in the NBA and contributed heavily to the Pistons going back 2 back and should be in the Basketball Hall of Fame; is all I am going to say
Bill was a thinking man's ruffian, and unlike clowns like Dramond Green, he could actual play basketball. Constantly agitating, constantly playing dirty below the refs radar and yet ready to snag the rebound or sink a 3. Also a consumate ride-or-die style teammate who HATED anyone not on the team. He'd thrive in any era.
idc how good you are - if you intentionally try to injure other players not just piss them off or hurt them but trying to ruin their careers you should be banned.
Honestly he seems a very strategic player and since he had the talent and precision it only made him legendary. Anybody would want him in their team rather than playing against him.
When Bird was ejected for beating the living crap out of the Bastard on the ground...100% worth it. Despite the Pistons taking the game. Would do it again...every time!
@@BlueBearOne you are correct ... I believe that was the one of 2 season Detroit let it slip away while they were knocking on the door .... The Pistons eventually kicked that door down.
Even though Bill Laimbeer was the most hated player in NBA history, he have a great career because he was actually the pioneer of the stretch 5 meaning a center can shoot 3s. Another fact was actually he was a great rebounder. He will probably a Hall of Famer in my humble opinion, one day because he was actually won a championship as a coach in the WNBA just like the recently inducted, Michael Cooper did. If Cooper was already in the Hall of Fame, Laimbeer should be in also.
Bill Laimbeer is a Hall of Famer who embraced the Bad Boys of the Pistons squad. I don’t think people liked him as a player. He was a better coach than he was a player. He played with the likes of Isiah Thomas, Dennis Rodman, John Salley and many others🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀

Great piece, really. I loved Laimbeer's intensity and "never quit" mentality.
You see where Dennis Rodman got much of his game.
exactly right ......
Give bill his flowers bro a great basketball player
These days, whenever the subject of the dirtiest NBA player of all time comes up, I find that the top comments often name Draymond Green & Zaza Pachulia. Which is just laughable compared to the Bad Boys Pistons.
Rick mahorn was the baddest one in Detroit
This is what the modern NBA needs. Now it's all friendships and podcasts, with players crying for a trade as soon as they don't win a title in a year or two. The sport has gone downhill because players are too buddy-buddy. I miss the days when guys like Laimbeer and Bird were hated by opponents, but beloved by their fanbase.
He was living in his opponents head rent free.
I will always remember the quote, "in a league with Bird, Barkley, Jordan, etc., the pistons won 2 championships."
9:25 miss these days
The way you describe him he really reminds me of draymond green.
If he played in NBA today he'd get flagrant 2 fouls and techs every game simply for looking the wrong way
Bad Boy Pistons are so iconic dude. Bill being forced into the villain role only for Isiah to get injured the exact way Bill tried to injury everyone... like damn bro.
I would have thrown something at my television if I was watching my team play the Pistons back in the day. Cheap shot artist! 😂
Laimbeer was my favourite playing growing up supporting my Pistons. Our legend
My Idol, my hero💪🏻🙌🏻
Lol the shot to malone near the end 😂😂😂😂
The difference between Bill Laimbeer and the other usual suspects is that he left it on the court. Ask Parish's wife.
Great video
As a celtic fan I truly appreciate Laimbeer. For me it was him being the real leader of the Pistons.
Love that. Almost never hear a C's fan say ANYTHING positive about him, even thought he was the principle piece of the rivalry on the Piston's side.
Great video.
guy who absolutely should be in HoF but will never be allowed (well, maybe as a WNBA coach; he was one of the best W coaches). He played hard and with 'win above everything' mentality which is good. But he is hated (and he worked really hard for this ;) ).
I personally love his game (and Bad Boys generally; I love attitude 'I dont care what other say about me, I am here to win no matter what').
Bill Laimbeers Combat Basketball. If you have your own basketball video game.... youre doing something!
I saw this in another comment and I thought it was a joke. "Combat Basketball"? Lmao.
@@poleagYep, it was a super Nintendo game that I saw at video stores back in the 90's.
Bill Laimbeer did enough work in the NBA and contributed heavily to the Pistons going back 2 back and should be in the Basketball Hall of Fame; is all I am going to say
"the only NBA player with a smaller salary than his father"...
Bronny inthe corner: 💀
Bill was a thinking man's ruffian, and unlike clowns like Dramond Green, he could actual play basketball.
Constantly agitating, constantly playing dirty below the refs radar and yet ready to snag the rebound or sink a 3.
Also a consumate ride-or-die style teammate who HATED anyone not on the team.
He'd thrive in any era.
Green has a really smart game. The real difference is that Laimbeer was always under control.
Laimbeer thought clotheslining people coming down the lane was legal in the NBA
idc how good you are - if you intentionally try to injure other players not just piss them off or hurt them but trying to ruin their careers you should be banned.
Honestly he seems a very strategic player and since he had the talent and precision it only made him legendary. Anybody would want him in their team rather than playing against him.
Nah intentionally trying to hurt other players, especially feet in the landing position, like he did will always make him a pos.
Bowen did that all the time. McHale horse collared Rambis because he was beat to the basket. Not the only player who did these things.
@@chazzx1018so they're pos too like him🤷♂️
@@chazzx1018anybody that does that is a POS
Cant wait for people to call you a softie for saying that even thought that's how the real world works
Yeh I don't blame these guys for punching him
I never ever thought I would say that I miss him.
When Bird was ejected for beating the living crap out of the Bastard on the ground...100% worth it. Despite the Pistons taking the game. Would do it again...every time!
that's why you lost
@@csnide6702 Check your history. Who won that series? 4 to 2? trying to remember...OH YEAH! Boston!!!
@@BlueBearOne you are correct ... I believe that was the one of 2 season Detroit let it slip away while they were knocking on the door .... The Pistons eventually kicked that door down.
He went to my current high school. Shout out palos verdes! Paved the way for us players now. We just won the d5 cif state championship for football.
💯🔥🔥🔥congratulations
Bill lambeer was a bad man 🥶 center for pistons dynasty
Thank you for that very crucial and unknown bit of information, Captain Obvious
Finally we got the story of dark prince
He was a decent a defender too and the cheating just took it to another level.
Very interesting story. Thanks
"Prince of Darkness" and "axe murderer" are so funny lmao
And ppl say they miss the 80s defense
I do.
lol we do.
Dude had a SNES video game called Bill Laimbeer's Battleball. He was fun to watch.
Kinda makes you wonder if Dennis Rodman took inspiration from Lambier!😂🎉❤
