I've seen other materials used and I'm convinced this is the best diy material to use, I'll be making a more permanent box and stand for outdoor use.

Yep going this route. I can add paper targets. Spray paint it white and draw my own. Also add books at the bottom and reshape the foam for more weight. Portable practice target

Sometimes the best designs are the simplest ones. Thanks.

Not a bad idea.. Have a whole bunch of Styrofoam sheeting I was about to throw away but now will use as target box filler.

Probably not a good idea to setup the test target in front of your water heater. Especially if you are a beginner.

LOL... well the target didn't stop the arrows, but the water heater I place the target in front of did just fine!

How are you shooting arows that have plastic fletching with a bow like that? I tried to do it and my fletching broke lol, had to use feathers instead

Shame he doesn't show removing the arrows. I went with a similar idea, and there is NO way a kid or small woman will be pulling those out.

Right? I've been watching a ton of these DIY target videos in the last two days and I'm leaning toward packing with old clothes/blankets or I saw one guy from Germany pack with plastic bags, sheeting etc. Both had good stopping power for the arrows (up to 65 lbs) and were easy to remove the arrows.
German dude favored the plastic over clothes since it wasn't a problem in getting heavy and mildewing if it got wet.

prob shouldn't shoot towards your hot water heater.

Why would you have a hot water heater?? Why would you heat hot water?
