    Tekton is making SnapOn the modern day milk man. Quality tools with a lifetime guarantee at a fraction of the cost.

      Trucker88 Snapon’s been around over 100 years. They’re not going anywhere as long as professionals are slinging wrenches for a living. I don’t buy everything offered on tool trucks but I do spend a significant amount of money on them. There’s still a lot of us out there that appreciate made in the USA tools. One cannot appreciate a Snapon Flankdrive wrench until you’ve used them everyday for twenty years and you can’t wear them out. Anything that is rebranded by an import manufacturer and sold on a tool truck doesn’t interest me. I’ll buy that from a cheaper source.

      Wayne Swicegood how much of snap on is still made in the USA??

    • @prevost8686
      @prevost8686 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      George Swindoll jr If I had to put a percentage on it I would estimate about 80%. Obviously they rebrand but to a far lesser extent than other tool companies.

    • @nicholascortez728

      Tekton keeps increasing the number of made in the usa products they sell. They use to be 90% Taiwan and 10% China when this video was made. They are now 75% Taiwan and 15% usa and still 10% China. They are looking at brining there regular wrenches stateside from what I've heard (already make the angled in the here) and just launched a North American made (made in Canada) Tool Chest line)
      I will agree Snap-on does make more professional level tools, that's not tektons market they have been filling the "Quality Tools at affordable prices" that craftsman abandoned for the race to the bottom. Snap-on is kinda of just depending on their name, brands like SK make there tools in the USA and charge less for an equivalent tool.

      The warranty is the deal breaker for me , I love snap on, don’t get me wrong I have a mid 60s tool box that I love how sturdy it is and battery impacts are great

    @shilohjorgensen1042 7 ปีที่แล้ว +33

    Well you sold me on these, and after a month of use I only have one major gripe: The metric wrenches are sized even/odd rather than sequential. That is, the opposite end of the 19mm is 17mm rather than the expected 18mm. You'll find that opposite 16mm. What you end up with is an 18mm wrench that is shorter than your 17mm, and thus able to present less torque on a larger fastener. And it's just a weird thing to do.

    • @deankruse8751
      @deankruse8751 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Shiloh Jorgensen yeah i noticed that in the video

    • @shilohjorgensen1042
      @shilohjorgensen1042 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Well, I've since noticed this on other brands (even a few Stahlwille sizes) so I guess it's not completely unheard of. Still mildly annoying/weird though, IMHO

      It's not unusual on open box wrenches, because they often fit hydraulic couplings subsequent to one another.

    Been scoping out Tekton for sockets, wrenches, and the likes. They seem to be inexpensive but not terrible or cheaply made. However, It has become apparent they have the best warranty service. For example, on Amazon they have representatives monitor comments, and anytime a customer has any issue, they straight-up replace the tool proactively. I've seen that convert the a few grumpy unsatisfied customers into very satisfied repeat customers. It's amazing to see.

    I never understood making ratchet wrenches 12 point. It ratchets. 6 point is better, and you dont need the fitment of a 12 point for clearance. Plus, 6 point is just better and less headaches in the long run. Now box end non ratcheting should be 12 point cause sometimes you dont have the clearance and you need the ability to hook up to the fastner that maybe a 6 point will not provide

    • @johneye3338

      Super Godzilla Dude. I dont think you can fault the company for your lack of reading how to warranty a tool. They explicitly say multiple places to just take a picture of the tool and email it to them, and they will send you a new one.
      You cant just blame a company for a bad warranty because you wont warranty the tool. They will send you a free one, you just have to read the warranty, which is huge, like at least 20 words. If you read it, then you will know, just to email them and they will send you a new one.
      Or you can do whatever you want and blame everyone else when it doesnt work. Your choice.

    • @kazper2011
      @kazper2011 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Debatable. Both are difficult to warranty if you don't have access to a tool truck. Tekton goes out of their way to help people who have issues with their tools.
      I've been considering the mountains for a few years but after reading about the company forcing sellers to uphold their warranty, I am lack confidence in them.

    • @djsi38t

      some rusted fasteners could pose a problem because of that tight tolerance.

  • @andybub45

    The only thing that could make these better is if they were reversable and had a raised section, similar to the Matco/Mountain/Platinum wrenches.

    Can you compare these head to head with the Icons? The icons are a little longer and about the same price after the standard 20% Icon coupon.

    • @user-te3qq1rb7u
      @user-te3qq1rb7u 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know your comment was from a year ago, but I think there are some advantages to the Icons. The Icons are 12pt which makes more sense on a tool like this IMO. People typically reach for these for convenience and speed and hard to reach fastener. While a 6 point is better for contact, it’s unnecessary for a low torque applications and actually makes it harder to get onto a faster in tight spots. The Icons also have an offset built into them and are reversing. I’d go with Tekton over Icon almost 100% of the time but I’d have to go Icon on these.

      Is there a larger range of sizes? This would not cover my needs as a professional mechanic.

      really? 8-19mm? I'm a professional mechanic, and I commonly see sizes in the 8-19 range

      Lynx Star Automotive it's not that I don't see these sizes, it's that the fasteners I have issues with are usually larger than 19mm. 21,22 etc. I like to have full coverage in the range of sizes if i'm gonna buy specialty wrenches. my reversible gear wrenches go up to 25mm and 1" and I use them often. would rather wait till somebody offers a larger set than buy one now and have what I prefer hit the market a month later.

      Typically, how it works is anything bigger than 19mm will be offered as a separate set. For example Matco has a 21-24mm wrench set, and it costs over 200.00. It is an add on to their typical 8, 10-19mm set. Many professional tool manufacturers do this.
      I just buy the 21, 22, and 24 separately in different configurations as those three sizes are the most common in my demographic

    75 ft lbs really isn’t a ‘very high torque’

    WHEN DID KINDERGARTEN START TO WATCH THESE VIDEOS? do you really have to explain the difference between a non ratcheting box end and a ratcheting box end?

      Look at it from Daniel's perspective. He's trying to reach as wide of an audience as possible, from novice to professional.

    I'm sure linguists have a name for it, but the way you draw out the last syllables of your sentences is extremely annoying. It communicates a total lack of enthusiasm. Listen to yourself.

      The issue was the way that I used to record many spoken clips and spliced them together.....now all at one time.... hopefully less annoying to some...
