    Well done for doing all this yourself! Iv done many jobs like this my self as I'm quite a keen home mechanic and too tight to pay some one to do a job I can do myself. But, iv never refitted a used cambelt regardless of how old it is. Its just not worth the risk! Iv re used dual mass flywheels and even bought secondhand ones as its low risk, but never re fitted a used cambelt. Risky business! Still a great job done tho and a sick van to boot. 👌

    Hi Mate. I'm pulling mine off my 1.9 BRR. Same symptoms. Quick one - to check flatness of the head with a straightedge/feelers - is that a machinist's straight edge or a woodworker's square? Have you got a link for something that would work? Cheers mate, appreciate the videos. I never got round to doing an MR2 but have watched your vids with interest.

    You said the head lifted due to a remap. What power are you running? As I am looking to do a map. Love your projects.

    • @SpyderLEE
      @SpyderLEE  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, the head lifted but I don’t think it was the remap. It’s a common fault on the pd engine at high mileage. I’m running around 150bhp can’t remember the exact number without looking.

    Any good Engine Build / Tuning Shop could have done the Same Work on your Original Head, Clean, Pressure Test,Skim, Vstems Valves Recut in ..RU getting Original Done keep as a Spare?
    Dont forget to to Re Check the Torque on the Head Bolts after 100 Miles ish
    Bubbling Water in the Coolant Jobby was the Up n Down of the Pistons , you can get a Coloured Liquid to Add to Water n run Engine , itll tell you if Heads gone by Changing Colour, handy to have
    On the Shelf if you Suspect it again , hopefully not .

    I’m just in the middle of this. Did you swap the injectors over or get a garage to do it?

    • @SpyderLEE
      @SpyderLEE  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      John Straw I did it. I just kind of stuck them in and hoped for the best. I need to set up the gaps properly really on the cam but it runs ok so meh 🤷‍♂️

    • @johnstraw6138
      @johnstraw6138 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      How did you get them out?

    • @SpyderLEE
      @SpyderLEE  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      John Straw if I remember correctly I used a massive screwdriver as a wedge. Stuck it under one end and tapped it with a hammer. Angle it so it slips across but lifts the injector as the screwdriver bit gets fatter if you know what I mean.

    • @SpyderLEE

    • @mechanicalnut7866

      Lee need you , can you advise how you timed it before entering the tools I.e setting to tdc ?

    • @SpyderLEE

      Mechanicalnut the crank locking tool sets the piston tdc . And the putting the pin in the cam sprocket sets the top.
