    Thank you for sharing this inspirational story of our ancient pilgrim ancestors, appreciate it. Rupkund is certainly a place worthy of a visit.     I maybe Wrong: But given the scenario, it's possible that
    1. Those people living nearby would belive that Submerging Bodies after Death in Lake would be a Path to Salvation or considered to a Sacred Ritual during their Pilgrimage.
    Or
    2. Maybe an entire group was Crossing the Frozen lake in winter after returning from a Pilgrimage on their way back and Ice-sheet broke which caused everyone to Freeze to death collectively..
