Our mother was a gifted pianist. As children, we always came home from school to a house filled with music. Debussy was one of her favorite composers, with his hauntingly beautiful pieces. We lost our mom in 2005, but have wonderful memories of her playing the piano; she gave us the gift of music every day. ❤
Everyone who reads this, we don't know each other and probably never will but I wish you all the best in life and all the luck in the world 💕🥰

"Clair de lune" touched my heart as it did for the first time when I was 15 and quite naïve. I will be 69 tomorrow and feel tired of all the hatred, violence and ugliness in our "civilized" world of today. Thanks for this gentle escape tonight with the magical music of Debussy!
Peace will soon return

I am dealing with a mother who has dementia and a son who is bipolar. This music is a balm for the soul.
I am sitting in my car right now eating frozen yogurt with my mother who also suffers from dementia,so much of the time it seems overwhelming ,but today we got a miracle and she is not so bad, so I think the best thing is to deal with the hard times the best we can and if we happen to get a day or even a few hours where they are okay, you make the most of that time because you never know when the chance will come again.
So well put!

My morning ritual: Wake up, more or less. Make a strong cup of coffee and listen to the music of Debussy before going to work. For me there is something other worldly about his music. I've listened to some of his other pieces, but these are the best. Very soothing.

There is something special about Debussy's music. Bach and Beethoven might be powerful and grand. Motzart might range from catchy and light to haunting and beautiful. But Debussy's music sounds as if full of love and care, a love that is untroubled by any of the other problems of the world, where one is completely taken to another place.
❤❤
Like you, I too hear the beauty in his music but in real life he was a monster of a husband. @@fortunatahernandez5056
You can't compared them and say Debussy is full of love and care, I think they all are, just different branches of classical music itself.
Spot on. Full of Love and Care, beyond the world of duality into the wholeness of being.
Debussy has the most dreamy quality. It’s the indie baroque pop of classical music
My and my boys love Debussy, we have Debussy everyday

Grandpa and I lived together in a cozy house in the woods. He was a short, bald and slightly overweight tailor who worked from home. He didn't bother to look good to impress women or men and never got married. His discipline, passion for classic music, and hours of study after work made him into a self-taught pianist. In the occasional instances when I'd shut myself off in my bedroom upstairs, he knew my spirits were low. Like a master, he'd then play Debussy, his favorite composer and mine, for at least half an hour. It's been almost ten years he transitioned into the ethereal dimension. Now, from a distant memory, come the notes that filled the house and reached the small creatures in the surrounding vegetation. Whenever I evoke the image of the movement of his fingers working their magic on the keyboard.
What a wonderful memory 💞💞
Something is I don't understand. How he could become a grandpa if he never married?
Beautifully described sentiments❤

@@bettiraige3474 they both belong to the impressionist movement , which is based on the contemplation of nature (hence a lot of debussy's song titles referring to nature and all of monet's painting being nature ones)

My sister passed away just a couple weeks ago. She loved classical music. She sang in the choir in Hamburg, Germany. I listen to Debussy thinking of her from Co. Springs, Co. USA and the years we grew up together , practicing Debussy music on the old up right piano together.
So very sorry for your loss DH. Much love to you. God bless. ❤
Every time I hear Debussy I picture our old fashioned farmhouse in Maine with its quaint wallpaper and white-painted woodwork and braided rugs. I was 9 years old in 1975 and we had just gotten our first stereo record player with the automatic mechanism that allowed you to stack 6-8 records in queue so you didn’t have to stand by and move the arm at the end of one side. My parents played classical, gospel, hymns, and all the sacred Christmas classics. Every time I hear this music I feel the peace and contentment that still lives in my parents’ house no matter where they live. ❤️❤️❤️
Aye maine shout out
Debussy's music brings a different image to mind for me. It reminds me of Claude Monet's painting "Water Lilly pond": a quiet, secret little hideaway that no one else knows about where you go to remember simpler, better times and get lost in the beauty of nature. If only there was anything produced comparable to that today, but there's not, because real art, art that causes a transcendental experience, died a long time ago.

My first Debussy was a casette of La Mer played by Charles Munch and the Boston Symphony Orchestra. I was in my '20s and just beginning to get exposed to classical music. I've listened to many splendid recordings of that great, evocative work in the years since, but nothing stands out in my mind like that old cassette with Munch and the BSO. I am listening to this in my lounge with a glass of Rose. Sublime. My eldest son came in asked me why am I listening to Clair de Lune? I explained why and then his girlfriend popped her head around the corner and said to listen to the Reverie as it blew her mind!. My son and his girlfriend mostly listen to grunge, metal etc, so to say I am shocked is an understatement. Their is hope!!!LOL
There’s something about Debussy and Chopin that touches my soul more than other composers
I'm a pianist & grew up learning & hearing Debussy's pieces. They're so rich-sounding yet generally easy to play. Of all the classical genres, impressionism is my favorite & Debussy my favorite among those composers. One of the amazing things we witnessed whenever my sister would play Clare de Lune was how our cat would react to it - he would jump up into her lap and bump & rub his head all over her arm endlessly. He did this to NO OTHER MUSIC but Debussy's Clare de Lune! It was amazing to witness. It's incredible how modern his music still sounds today - stunningly beautiful note combinations & how it lifts you out of your time & space to another world. What a talent!
Perfeita colocação!viajei bravo !
Have not heard this music in a long time. It's mind clearing. It's wonderful.

My cat too LOVES Claire de Lune!
Fascinating comment. Thanks.
thats what happened with all the greats! if you listen to liszts, Chopins or Mozarts earlier pieces, theyre *extremely* complex and when you compare them to the pieces they wrote in their 30's-40's, they got slower and deeper, 'easier' to play, but with so much more depth. Tho i wouldnt really say that about liszt 😂
This music, like ray of light- brake the wall of problems and stress today.

I I loved DeBussy's melodies from the beginning.
Melody is my 'thing.' DeBussy is melodic but 'modern' at the same time, meaning he's adventurous, hitting interesting chords, beyond what I could do, but so easy to appreciate. His sense of phrasing is so interactive too, ripples of arpeggios, delightful runs with counter melodies, like he's improvising, which doubtless he was, but he transcribed his spontaneous journeys. He's the whole package.
The individual who played piano managed it beautifully and with perfect feeling and freedom. Thanks to ThatClassicalVibe for posting this.
Such mellow beautiful music always feels like a breath of fresh air. My soul recognizes its native element, it’s natural atmosphere. Thanks.

I have come to enjoy classical music at such a late time in my life. But it is never too late. I have watched a lot of elephant videos and there is a man who plays classical music for the old elephants and they respond to the music. It is a beautiful thing. An 80 year old blind elephant that can actually cry tears and will move somewhat to the music. An old bull elephant who is violent and has to be handled by the care givers and behaves well while listening to the music. So I have listened to the music while he plays and have come to a point where I can appreciate classical music more and feel the calming effect it has on me and I could listen all day. I like Debussy. But I will branch out in time. It is beautiful for the elephants and myself. Love the elephants. They are wonderful!!
