Nice video thank you. You say McCoy liked to stay in one mode orientation despite the changes but have you studied using the other inside pentatonic for a key So for a CM7 chord there is C Major Pentatonic E Major Pentatonic G Major Pentatonic A minor Pentatonic I haven't done much experimentation with all that but it looks like you could me playing over a CM7 chord and use any of these in a phrase or sequence and then side slip from there. Have you experimented with all these pentatonics that work over a major chord or mode and then side slipped off each one? Another nice device is if you are playing in a modal vamp if you play an inside riff and move it up in major thirds after it goes outside twice the next major third brings it back to the first version, I guess you probably use that because it's the Coltrane changes but it's kind of like side slipping with a bigger jump. With Tyner and these pentatonics the danger is if you do them exactly like McCoy people thinks it's unoriginal. I guess this means do some variations he wouldn't do. Coltrane like to take the pentatonic scale and play it in 4 note sequences, sometimes 3. He sometimes used the Dominant Pentatonic (G A B D F ). Have you used that? That would have to go over a G7 chord, clash with the F
Thembi, I have a question, when you play "outside" notes with your right-hand, does your left-hand also go "outside" or not?.........Or perhaps it can be done both ways where LH stays in key or out of key, while RH side-slips - I'm not quite sure how it "normally" works. Thank you.
Yeah, in the video I showed both the left and right hand playing “outside” simultaneously. But you can surely play out the mode and keep the lh the same‼️🎹💯
@@thembelihledunjana Thank you. Do you have any videos where the LH plays (inside) but the RH plays (outside)? To "hear" both ways might offer a slightly different sound or experience. If you don't have a video like that, it might be an idea to cover for a future video - hearing both ways side by side.
በጣም ቆንጆ !! Love your playing and high taste. Have you listened to Samuel Yirga from Ethiopia ? I don't understand the technical discussion, but your playing is wonderful. 😀
How much would it cost me? Simply to learn McCoy Tyner style, especially the way you play it in this video, then I would later worry about learning how to play music. Thanks, and please reply.

Quick question, I'm looking for online pdf booklet of all the pentatonic scales please.
Do you mean just plain pentatonics? If so I may be able to write them out for you.
Let me know
@@thembelihledunjana Yes the plain pentatonics, I've tried to search online but no luck thus far.
I’ll write them out and put them on my “buy me a coffee” shop. But I’ll send you a free copy. What’s your email?
