James, you're like a guitar coach... "you should be able to hear this, etc"... that's awesome. I appreciate your direct attitude... from Australia. Also a wonderful assistant, so good luck. Thanks a lot.
So True!!!!! Not a word of a lie, just before sitting down to watch this, I got my poster from inside my "Live at Leeds" album. It's right in front of me because I'm trying to figure out exactly where I want to hang it! Even that poster is epic! The ultimate live album of all time.
@@PitcairnIslander Being from Leeds this was always such a special album, it was even better when my son made it the first album he put on his cell/mobile phone!
Last time I gave some medication advice - this time some guitar care advice: toggle switches like on that Gretsch or Les Pauls are best kept in the neutral/center position when not in use. This is because in the up or down position they are pressing against a flexible piece of metal, that over years of remaining under tension can bend a bit and create a poor contact...it simply prolongs the life of the switch. For those who will want to criticize (I've heard these people exist on the internet), this advice was given to me by a master luthier of impeccable credentials. Good luck in your recovery, and you and your "lovely assistant" have a great dynamic - you are clearly great friends and that is why your marriage is so strong.
Love hearing the banters and laughs from you and the Missus. Yes, the world needs more laughs. Question: Did you ever compose a song for the Missus ??? Can we hear it?
Very cool part two. I think I should have learned pentatonic scales when I was younger. It would certainly help me today.... Thanks for posting the Q&A part two you two.. Great to listen to. It took me years to get through the torn rotator cuff because of my doctors screw up...
Your show is Wonderful James. I wish I could sit with you and “collaborate” write some of my comedy with you!! And also play some of my guitars. Take care Tommy Ramon Leal

G'day JJ and Misses JJ, glad your recovery is going well, and hope that you're both enjoying the weekend. Loving this series while you get better. Respect for not showing your face, and focus on playing guitar instead for all these years, I'm still subbed to your old channel too. What's your favorite bootleg album of Hendrix? Maybe I'm a bit on eyed here, but can you name any bands that started in either the 60's or 70's and continued into the 80's and still sounded kick ass.... other than AC/DC ;)
James James hi i have to let you know that I comment from my phone and tablet so in case you are getting 2 duff what evers!! But it's me Tami . I hope you don't think i am not to smart i just don't know a lot about tuning etc I taught myself how to play when i was a kid I use to go to a music store that sold individually sheet music back in the 70's i learned by the cord charts and here I am LEARNING from a pro so thank you for being here i am so happy to have you around i am advanced as a player but more so now THANKS to you. Glad your on the mend James. Enjoy your lessons a lot and I usually work on a couple of new ones a week. Your recoup will give me time to catch up on my backlog of 20😀. till your playing return take care.
You said it: the Bollocks album is perfect from start to end. Also, love the Spinal Tap references (that was one of the greatest films ever made). And finally, Led Zeppelin was and will always be the greatest rock and roll band.
Amazed at how alike our views are. Must be an age thing. Your reverence for Jimi and Duane. The English Beat. The Police/Seagulls show. The Fixx was excellent. Saw it at Foxboro. I think the "no need for lessons" has been helped dramatically by the internet. I took them as a kid and learning major and minor scales never made sense until I got to apply them to Rock and roll. Let it Bleed..but there are really so many. I'll take Dylan's Desire over John Denver and LZ 2 over Graffiti though. As brief as it is, the solo on "Hear my train a'comin" is the definition of guitar solo. Bollocks! 😀 And it's my right shoulder. Thank again for your lessons. Good evening. 👍
Thanks for taking time, happy recovery and keep up the good work and heal! Love your live album picks coincidentally are mine as well! & I love Get your ya’s ya’s out it always brings me back to a simple, fun time in my life!!
Hi James James I never got to know why you had surgery on your right arm I know mine hurts pretty bad after playing way to much so I break for4 5 days. Ok do you really put Ernie ball strings on your Gibson acoustic guitars? I have been using Gibson q12_53 light gauge cause its the only gauge the epiphone can take and I don't like all of the heavy coating on my guitar I guess I spoiled myself with Gibson strings so honestly tell me please! I may just have to get use to the sound of th other strings ya think?
Excellent show, and best wishes on recovery. Jimi is quite the soloist, though I’d pick Bold as Love as his best. My real love for him is as a lyricist and arranger, and for his incredibly subtle manipulation of clean tones. Eddie Kramer is probably somewhat responsible for the tonal manipulations, though Kramer is so humble in interviews it’s hard to ascertain to what degree. (Though he does talk about adding the flange drum effect to the coda in Bold as Love). As for other great solos: Jimmy Page’s solo on the Earl’s Court version of Trampled Underfoot is pretty darn good, as is his play on Immigrant Song on the BBC sessions. Marc Ford’s lead work with the Black Crowes is stellar, too.
BTW I HAVE ADOPTED YOU AS MY LITTLE BROTHER I FOLLOW YOU LIKE YOU ARE MY BIG BROTHER! I AM 58 BE 59 IN JUNE BUT I'M GOING TO PLAY UNTIL I DROP DEAD AND WHEN I DO I PLAN ON DOING IT WITH THE GUITAR IN MY ARMS!! Led Zeppelin in the ´80s=The Firm? I loved the 12 string acoustic I gave to my nephew when I moved to Mexico that I had for over 30 years. I still have my electric 12 string, but I barely play it because it's so difficult to keep in tune.
Hello Mr. & Mrs. James lol. Been watching your videos for a while and I'm very grateful for all your work and lessons. You kinda freaked me out on your first vid after surgery, hope you're recuperating nicely. Really enjoyed this video and all the topics you touched on, some really funny stuff between you and your wife. Did not know about the Mexican cokes, went ahead and ordered 2 cases of it and just finished my first one w a nice pastrami sandwich ;o) a very pleasant treat for sure, for special occasions only. Take care & be well, both of you.
I just wanted to know if you had the tab available for THE MOODY BLUES "Lovely To See You , and I also just happen to be listening to your question& answer with your sister and love that you mentioned John Denver for your Desert Island 5.

Mick Taylor plays the slide on Country Honk . Live with me is the only other track he is on. Keith plays slide on Love in Vain, Ry Cooder plays the mandolin.

Weird thing, i would've answered all those questions with 99% similarly. Heal up JJ, have had the exact surgery and physical therapy sucks but is so essential. Will leave you with this...i as well HATE changing strings! And i own 29 guitar's...no twelve strings 😁👍
Let it Bleed and Ya Ya's. Thank you. And I am about 10 years older than you and find your musical influences the same as mine, you must have been heavily influenced by your older brothers.
Have you heard of/listened to the British band Dr Feelgood (the 'classic' lineup of Lee Brilleaux, Wilko Johnson, The Big Figure and John B Sparks)? If so, have you ever tried to play their music and what do you think of Wilko Johnson?
I think Electric Ladyland is Jimi's best. Great variety and the definative Wah-Wah album. Still Raining Sill Dreaming. Come On, Burning of the Midnight Lamp and of course Voodo Child (slight return) is the cherry on top.
Not sure if you ever did any Eagles’ cover tunes..Tequila Sunrise, Life in the Fast Lane, Peaceful Easy Feeling .. I’d love to get your take on the lead parts or riffs in these tunes..
Hey man interesting to get to know your background taste in music agree with most answers especially on Hendrix. Tune in on your lessons find your breakdown is right on and like your song choice thanks and get well soon .
Yeah I caught a screenshot of him ,looks like he used to look only older and shorter hair with Kiss type Make up on .. Bizairre I think james is a good hearted dude..
I knew you’d select a Strat and a Les Paul as first guitars, and the dreadnaught doesn’t surprise me. I own six guitars, and I’m happy to follow the road less traveled by buying neither a Strat, a LP nor a dreadnaught.
The only thing that makes me sad is I am never going to be able to get another guitar i wanted the dove but could not get it and i saw the humming bird and got it the last one at russos in New Jersey and i love it but i am like you in the way of the sound of the maple compared to mahogony i really like it i like the deeper sound kind of better but happy with what I have and i am going to keep trying to get another guitar!! I wish I was your neighbor and i bet you don't!! Lol

Glad you’re doing well. I love these as much as the lessons
Love your playing, beautiful guitar as well.

Question: If you form a bar band now and want to play a few gigs, what kind of material or genre would you like to play more?
If you’re a bar band, you have to play stuff people can dance to and sing along with. Otherwise, you’re not going to get hired back.
"more of a James Burton fan..." Yes!
3-16-2021 @James James _ I did hear your comment, which answered my question I posted, as to WHY you choose to conceal your identity, concluding and including that by this time it is a "gimmick". Thank U.
Great comment on David Coverdale. Robert Plant said can’t he stand him either.
I owned a 12 string at one point. It sounded nice, but was a PAIN to tune. Also have to develop better calluses to cover the extra 6.
I had no idea that Mick didn't play on Let it Bleed, beyond a few overdubs. Pretty impressive work by Keith - they were certainly Peak Stones in that era. I've often lusted after a nice late model 911 (my wife even signed off at one point) but the yearly maintenance costs really put me off. Who knows - maybe someday!
I always say buying a Porsche isn’t the expensive part - owning one is the expensive part.
Get Yer Ya Ya's Out is one of the greatest live recordings ever! Deep Purple Live in Japan is also up there. Of course, it is all subjective.

I didn't expect Walter Matthau haha. I always imagine you exactly as Tony Hawk!
I am with younon Mr. Presley.
Thanks for the question period. I agree the guitar matters more!!
Thank for the comments about Elvis. TCB
What Led Zeppelin song do you think has the best Jimmy Page guitar? (Overall guitar playing or guitar tone)
James James needs a Mandolin for times like this
Love your lovely assistant’s response to one of your questions to her: “I wasn’t paying attention.” She’s a Dudeist!
A question for your next q & a. What do you think about the epiphanies casino and why don’t you have one? Have you ever had one?
Hang in there, stay safe.
Have you heard of/listened to the British band Dr Feelgood (the 'classic' lineup of Lee Brilleaux, Wilko Johnson, The Big Figure and John B Sparks)? If so, have you ever tried to play their music and what do you think of Wilko Johnson?
I like Dr. Feelgood, but I haven't really studied their catalogue.
I think Electric Ladyland is Jimi's best. Great variety and the definative Wah-Wah album. Still Raining Sill Dreaming. Come On, Burning of the Midnight Lamp and of course Voodo Child (slight return) is the cherry on top.
It's 9 :31 watching the replay Sat 13 ... love you guys !
Have you had the urged to learn another instrument? Piano, brass? March 13.
What advice would you have for someone trying to improve on their soloing?
How do you get to meet all those people (the president, frampton, clapton,...)?
It is subjective..lol..I would want to jam with Lindsey Buckingham or James Taylor...lol...great video...well done to both of you. Get well soon!!!
GREAT stuff loving it
Whipping post on that live album is just... wow.. expect a lot of comments, making my way through the catalog!
Not sure if you ever did any Eagles’ cover tunes..Tequila Sunrise, Life in the Fast Lane, Peaceful Easy Feeling ..
I’d love to get your take on the lead parts or riffs in these tunes..
The Eagles songs are always blocked and I get copyright strikes, so I won't be doing any Eagles music.

Also, you can mimic a 12 string with a pedal, but with ease of playing...

John Denver's Greatest Hits
Great selection for five desert island albums.
Greatest hits albums should not qualify as albums in answer to a question like this. JJ owes us another one. :-)
Hey man interesting to get to know your background taste in music agree with most answers especially on Hendrix. Tune in on your lessons find your breakdown is right on and like your song choice thanks and get well soon .
🤣🤣he showed his face once, he looks like the guy from kiss
Yeah I caught a screenshot of him ,looks like he used to look only older and shorter hair with Kiss type Make up on .. Bizairre I think james is a good hearted dude..
I knew you’d select a Strat and a Les Paul as first guitars, and the dreadnaught doesn’t surprise me. I own six guitars, and I’m happy to follow the road less traveled by buying neither a Strat, a LP nor a dreadnaught.
I love your vids guys. Great values, good vibes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have you ever owned a rickenbacker guitar, if so, why did you get rid of it?
Never owned one.
Fun vid. (P.S., a view of James' face is available on YT for those who want to dig for it. I'll never tell, though. :-))
Anyone aspiring to learn guitar: watch the JJ videos half speed. On the third try, you got it, mostly.
Glad to hear we drive the same Porsche
And i do agre with you as we drive the same model its a way beter designe than the 911 😊👍👍👍👍
The only thing that makes me sad is I am never going to be able to get another guitar i wanted the dove but could not get it and i saw the humming bird and got it the last one at russos in New Jersey and i love it but i am like you in the way of the sound of the maple compared to mahogony i really like it i like the deeper sound kind of better but happy with what I have and i am going to keep trying to get another guitar!! I wish I was your neighbor and i bet you don't!! Lol
There are 2 types of solos,,,, virtuosity for its own sake and melodic that fit the song and the best solos do both , Get well soon !
So.....you don’t look like Nigel from Spinal Tap??? There went my day.
Lol
Waited for this one:) thanks!
