Lauren, you’re doing such a great job with the young ladies. They are going to have memories of for a lifetime. Glad you’re getting your sail taken care of. Sending you loads of love from your grandma LIZ out in California. Fairwinds at your back Love 💕⛵️🩵😎🐬🐚
This episode was spectacular from start to finish. Video and sound quality was perfection. Loved the underwater footage. The two young ladies you brought on for their crew adventure added some character and showed your captaining skills.
I love Mako ❤ he is a superstar,,, very nice episode Lauren, your videos and your content and editing is always fun to watch. As always your underwater footage is the best.
You are a patient teacher, I think mako enjoyed the company. Look forward to more dives , amazing how long you hold your breath. Planning on patreon as soon as someone helps me figure out Venmo or pay pal. God bless, stay safe.
the girls absolutely learned a lot you're an excellent teacher! it reminded me a bit of when you used to do charters .Great video!💙I love how you were so excited about the batteries 😂
If I were in the situation that I needed to replace the mast, I would likely go with a jiffy-reef system which I feel is a less complicated and more reliable than a in the mast furling system. If your new sail has all ready been cut then it will not matter. I really enjoy your videos.
Great episode those young ladies are going to have some great memories and maybe you stirred up a little passion for them to pursue their dreams. Thanks for sharing hope the sail issue is resolved soon . Have fun at the boat show maybe you will luck on a few more sponsors. God Bless Lauren and pet the wild cat for me.
I am figuring out that owning a sailboat comes with as many responsibilities that a house does. Probably more since the environment is salt water. Regardless, I still luv the idea of sailing and one day I hope to give it a shot. Enjoyed the video as always. Stay safe sister….
I stumbled on your channel about 8 months ago. I love your channel. I have been strongly thinking about buying a sailboat. I have been doing research and watching video's to learn. You make really good video's and very knowledgeable and entertaining. Thank you. Fare winds and safe travels.
To prevent foils from banging in the mast attach the outhaul to the upper swivel and the end of the main halyard to the same point. Run the upper swivel approximately half way up the mast. This will stop the banging. Pull on the end of the halyard to bring the swivel back down. Attaching a loop of smaller stuff to the upper swivel and then outhaul and main halyard to the smaller stuff will do if the slot in the mast binds the larger lines.
Celebrate the wins!! Batteries are doing great. Raff and Sascha talked about you on their Q@A today. I think they like you. 🙂 I wish I was in a position to do Annapolis and meet all the sailors I love to follow. Stay safe. I love your channel. ❤🙏
Great update.🙏 It was good to see you correct the helmswoman about "only ever taps into gear" when maneuvering to anchor. 👌 Mayhaps I'll cross you in passage someday. Currently moving my boat from USVI to Guadalupe. After thought: you may be able to shove a small chunk of wood or rubber(flip-flop maybe)into the mast furler to keep it from knocking...as long as it won't fall in. 😅
Lauren, LOVE YOUR UPLOADS, (have dreams, of having the $$ to buy a 40-45 ft yacht),and sailing the pacific to start,(heaps of islands there), then maybe the West Indies. Fair winds, 😊😎⛵🇦🇺
You’ve probably heard it before, but I have heard that an 8 degree angle on the boom is best for furling mains? You’re probably in the air as I write this 😂❤
I know you will have your sail back by the time I watched this video. The next time you have to take your main down tie (bowline) a line to the uphaul swivel where your sail attaches and hoist the swivel half way up the mast. Then tie the line back to the boom to stop the constant pounding…SV Huntress (currently in Grenada 9-6-24)
🌴🌴🌴 I really hope that you enjoyed your time with these other two girls with you 😊. Does Mako accept all of your friends onboard? This was a very pleasant video. Blessings,Carlos ✝️🙏❤️😊🇺🇸
15:32 Seeing the sail rip and the furler's condition it looks like a maintenance issue of mainsail and the furler given the corrosion on the furling unit and the size crack on the foil. So, are you just replacing the furling unit or switching systems?
Prior to owning a boat, I thought in boom furling was the greatest followed by in mast furling. Having gained more perspective, I’ll stick with slab reefing. Simple, easy, and forgiving. If you have to buy a mast and possibly a mainsail, I’d consider changing configurations.
Have you ever considered doing a roller furling boom for the main that way you can keep full length bends in the main to get better sales shape and it’s easier to heist. It will keep the sale in better shape. Just have to put up the spa like you were saying if you’re gonna replace the spa, that would be the perfect time to do it Would really already on it and roller booms are generally a lot easier to set a sale and to retrieve it😊
The purpose of our lives is to create masterpieces out of ourselves. This is inevitably a journey that everyone will have to make sooner or later, now or later, whether in one lifetime or in their hundredth. There is no other purpose in the world, nothing more exciting. I wish you good luck on your journey..
I see you have a couple of steering wheel holders. I hope you are getting at least some AirB&B rates for the extra food processors and they are not just squatters.
Great video! If you stay in the Caribbean for the 2025 hurricane season, perhaps you will consider Curacao, arguably the best hurricane hole on the planet.
So it is true! A boat is a big hole in the water and you keep pouring money into it. Same as owning a house with acreage, you fix this, and you fix that, but you never sink. Unless it floods. Or you have an earth quake.😂 Enjoyed watching you train, and the free diving was beautiful with the star fish, puffer fish?, sea horses, and all kinds of fish. And the veragated coral!💖🌞👑✝️😃
Time to break out the palm and needles! Yes, dump the roller main before you head out into the open ocean... &/or, bring a spare main with a way to parrel or otherwise attach it to the mast. Do bring a selection of raw sail material, ideally matching your sails... and a bunch of sail twine and needles. And a palm. So great that you're teaching others! next thing you know you'll be a sail training vessel! Maco was so proud to be walking in the wilderness! he was like "don't you dare pick me up!" Have fun!
Found out you had to replace the mast?? Why, what did you find out? I think replacing a mast in Martinique means it will be shipped in two pieces, which have to be sleeved and riveted. It has been some years, but the last I heard, spars over 40' long were quite problematic to ship. $$$$$ ouch! When you can't sew, cleaning a tear in a sail (both sides) and drying it, then putting on a generously overlapped patch with AquaSeal, Goop, or a similar flexible urethane glue will give you a very clean repair. Press it flat & allow a full cure, 24+ hours.

Am I the only one that thinks Lauren resembles Diane Kruger? Stunning!!!
Too bad about the furling/mast, but, that’s boating. Nice to hear the batteries are working. Getting a good nights sleep with the a/c is nice.

Should be wearing safety harness even if close to shore with new people in my opinion.
tie the out haul to the head swivel and haul up the halyard 3/4 up. then tighten out haul. it will stop the sound in the mast.
I’ve always been partial to North Sails myself. Although my mizzen was a Doyal and I never had any issues with it.
Hi solo Sailor 💐well it is like like it is,🌊,,,,,may see you around the world,, home where anchor dropped,⚓, Cheers 🍾

You do not need to replace the mast for this problem, replacing a section of the roller track is sufficient
