- Harris County homeowners are celebrating a big win two days after a KPRC 2 story about their shock to find out their property deeds had been transferred to a total stranger.
The government and business entities have to be shamed on the news to do their job now?
Pretty much is the only time things get done.
They actually didn’t do anything. That woman said she “asked” the deed thief if she would transfer the titles back and she agreed. My question is what if she didn’t agree? Would they have been able to get their property back? It’s crazy
Yes it works most of the time. 😅
@@rtee3680 More than anyone else did! Yancey only agreed when caught and confronted by the Attorney (that woman). The government people who should be doing such, and protecting citizens from this happening did NOTHING!!! Remember this when you vote people!!!
Yes...
Outstanding now put her in jail
Thank you KPRC 2 ty for serving your community
This is an example of what the media should be doing for the PEOPLE
Investigate the Harris County employees
Why? How would they know the signatures were forged?
@@michellebowers8652 All three of the deed transfers were filed on the same day, by the same person. That should have raised questions.
@@michellebowers8652 check the original owner's signature and/or contact the original owner before filing anything?
We don’t care how they will know they are the law enforcement and they have a job to do that’s what they get paid for how deep does this rabbit hole go 😮
INVESTIGATE THE TEXAS NOTARY THAT NOTARIZED THE FRAUDULENT SIGNATURES AND PROPERTY DEED TRANSFER, they DID NOT conduct Due Diligence nor identify the parties properly.
Kim Ogg, Harris county DA hasn't filed charges against Yansey and co-conspirators? That should be a big news story itself.
Evidently the FBI is making a federal case out of it since it involves $10 million missing from escrow accounts.
It's RIDICULOUS, ABSURD and a SHAME to the US LAWS that there's not 1 law to revoke stolen deeds that clearly show they have been transferred with fake signatures and notary stamp!!!
If these cases wouldn't have been on the news they wouldn't have done anything.
They know who the scammer is yet NOTHING they have done to incarcerate that thief!?🤬
There wouldn’t be one law there would be 50 laws because it’s a state issue not a federal one
I dunno, it may depend upon the jurisdiction. A woman I used to work with stole a deed to a house and actually got a second mortgage on the house. When property tax time came around the real homeowner realized they hadn't got a property tax bill, they called the county involved to inquire as to why and were told the house was not in their name. The local police and prosecutor got involved and before it was over with they got their house back in their name (of course) and my former co-worker was convicted of fraud, etc. and actually did some prison time.
It's more than just that. There needs to be more security measures in place before a property transfer is allowed; Specifically, a "car like title", which the clerk keeps track of, 8r some kind of other layer of identifying if a person actually has the right to transfer a title...And, the lady that did this should be %100 charged with all of it!!! Just cant imagine slaving away your whole life, only to have someone steal everything with a forged signature...
This was my first thought when I listened to this story. This woman needs to be arrested!
Exactly! If the notary says they don’t know how the form was notarized with their information, wouldn’t that automatically cause the form to not be legit?
Investigate the notary
Seriously!! 😮
The Notary doesn't exist - it's fake. It was just a stamp.
@@kjpcgaming9296 as a notary I can understand…most places that make stamps do not check that you are a notary…. It’s a balance between inconvenience and security. It is convenient to use any notary and then bring the documents to the clerk. But maybe further checks should be required
Deed theft was probably a very rare occurrence until recently when thieves realized how easy it is. So now lawmakers need to catch up, just like with squatters.
It's theft plain and simple! Better than robbing banks! 🤬
So the only way to get ur property back is if the thief gives it back?
They have to be caught and publicly shamed first apparently
Or go through the massive headache of using the courts
They have to get the local police/prosecutors office involved. If they can trace who the suspect is, they will end up getting arrested and incarcerated.
wtf why would a thief willingly give back anything they have stolen 😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@r.hughes5737bc she is hoping to avoid prosecution
What if she said that she didn’t want to transfer them back?
If this woman came to sign docs she should have been detained and questioned. Unreal
Victimized by the crook then victimized by the system.
Well she needs to go jail, at least for ten years that lady calls lany
10 years per offense.
Show us "Yansey" 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
Helen Tancy and Dominique Side both have a lot of explaining to do.
Shes a black so called rapper lady..
@@JohnP538Dominique Side was manipulated by Anthony Hall into making those disastrous business and financial decisions
So the crook who stole their property just signs the papers and the county clerk accepts it? What if she steals it back later after the publicity dies down?
They need to stop letting people do stuff online when it concerns properties you need to show up in person show an ID with your picture show a Social Security card and a deed that you have showing you on the property before you are allowed to transfer the property into other peoples names
Illegal to use social security card for identification. But yes, county needs to do a better job of confirming the validity of transfers.
My question still remains, who was paying property taxes on these properties.
In the case I am personally aware of, the property taxes are exactly how they found out that the house was no longer in their name. Tax bill didn't come so they called the county and found out their house was no longer in their name. That got the ball rolling on prosecuting the thief.
Wow, one of the first GOOD things ive seen from any news channel today. Nice job CHannel 2 helping these people!!
They need to investigate EVERY SINGLE PERSON INVOLVED!!
If that lady can email a criminal and just "deed them back to their rightful owner", then the FBI can trace where the email was sent from and arrest them with a warrant from a judge.
Thank god they got their properties returned , well done KPRC . Now it's time for politicians to do some real work , fix this so that innocent home owners are robbed of their properties and to add insult to injury , subsequently faced with legal costs to get them back.
Again, well done to the team , now to prod some politicians to fix this ridiculous state of affairs.
Awesome Job❤
Why hasn't this woman been arrested? Please keep the public updated with this news story. No doubt there are other victims who have no idea their deeds have been fraudulently transferred. *Thank you to the lawyer who helped all the victims.
What happened to title insurance? I paid 1000s to get it, which is required. Bizarre.
Title insurance is a contractual obligation that protects against losses that occur when title to a property is not free and clear of defects (e.g. liens, encumbrances and defects that were unknown when the title policy was issued). Title insurance also guarantees loan priority. It doesn’t do anything regarding deed transfers.
This is an awesome story! So glad the news can help people.
I wonder how many loans where taken out against these stolen properties that these home owners will now be on the hook for they all need to do title searches every 30 days for the next year to look for liens placed on the properties over fraudulent loans using these properties as collateral
DAMN! In less than 3 days is crazy
Thank you guys
Situations like this is why we must constantly manufacture Depends. That's a high stress situation. Somebody having the gall to tell you that you no longer own your house.
And how much money did the property owners have to pay in order to recover their stolen property? ie, lawyers and filing fees. Who is Yancy, and how did she do this?
Yancy lady is shady. Investigate her.
I have holdings in Texas California and Europe, here in Germany they go after the notary as the fraudster big time.
In this case, they determined it was a fake notary stamp.
Praise God!
So basically the Perpetrator got away with it. How many more transferred properties are in their names that are not scrutinize?? 😅😅😅
No deed transfer without the homeowner present with multiple forms of identification from both parties with a required visit to the owner’s home to verify. Then a 3 month waiting period to send official registered letters to the original owner allowing them to agree or refuse. Doesn’t sound to hard to do…it’s just insane that anyone can walk in and claim a home and have it transferred to them without multiple forms of verification and communication.
That would cause unnecessary problems for legitimate real estate transactions, especially the waiting period. Its bad enough that closing on a house using a VA or FHA loan takes between 30 and 45 days and many sellers, at least in my area (I'm in AL but this problem can happen anywhere), don't want to sell to someone using a VA or FHA loan.
For a normal deed transfer, I would agree that multiple forms of ID and and both parties present at the time of the transfer (unless that is not possible due to medical or other valid reasons) should be the minimum requirement for a deed transfer without a real estate (buy/sell) transaction. It should be easier to VOTE than to do a deed transfer.
3 month waiting hell no im selling my house im not waiting 3 months for a new deed
@@NukedPratorian-o5f plan ahead. Would be more secure. If everyone knew of a waiting period they would plan accordingly
@@benproffitt5957plan what ahead their should be laws in place to protect the homeowner why is everything dumped on the back of the individual this is a country state city county all that and I should be vigilant come on now ppl have lives to live
@@r.hughes5737 what is being dumped on individuals? Safety? Sounds like patience isn’t a strong suit for you. It may not be 3 months, that was only an example, just however long it takes to get the letters out and a in person confirmation by the seller.
So no prosecution, time for the da to be investigated .
Is that the same outfit that tried to do the Graceland theft?
No.
Why is this woman not exposed?
Would like to know what the government has to say about this ongoing issue.
So they reached out to the criminal and asked her to do the right thing?! 🤦♀️
And Yancy gets to walk away. People PLEASE LOCATE, CALL, WRITE YOUR LOCAL GOVT. GET THIS CHANGED. THIS IS CRAP. WHAT ARE WE PAYIMG TAXES FOR?
If my home was taken by a fraudster and the state was not willing to step in my poor house would just fall right into the basement as i pack up and move out ...
This is a problem for society if the government cannot have better checks and balances
KPRC WOW....
She needs to answer to this. I vet she has done it to others that do not even know their property is on someone else's name. Sge is a thief abd needs to ne held accountable for her actions.
This seems to hinge on the notary. What happened there? Was their stamp stolen?
Why does it need to be refiled to reclaim anything?!? Why doesn’t the government just declare the fraudulent deeds fraudulent? Who approved the transfer in the first place?
Correct me if I'm mistaken but isn't the person doing the notary suppose to be a witness when signing the documents with the identities of both parties certified/verified and stamped? If so wouldn't this make the acutary,i think that's the correct title, and the company that hired him liable for fraud considering all of these fraud claims led to one actuary
What is justice system doing about this? How can the papers be true if the actual owner knows nothing about it? Who is the notary? Something smells fishy here.
I don’t understand the scammer has to AGREE… after they have stole it to give you back YOUR PROPERTY.
Thank God amd that Yancey person should get punished.
Fraudsters agree? OMG, so easy to steal, but what happens to the fraudsters? Follow up on that too. What steps are taken by the recorders to assure no fraud?
Why don’t these scammers go after county owned land instead. So much red tape no one would know.
How do you know they haven't? Transfer the title, wait until a new board is elected, and then demand back rent, per this contract signed by the prior board.
Why should the legit owner have to jump through hoops to try to get the deed transferred back from the fraudster? Put the fraudster in jail and void the original transfer, it was never valid. Now those title transactions are part of the title history for the property and who knows whether that's going to cause some issue in the future.
awesome I can rob a bank and keep the money after I get caught unless I "agree" to return it
I know of at least 3 places they have done this to me in Liberty County!!!! they will not do anything!!! If I say anything to the people on my property the police or sheriff's department will remove me!
Why havn't you guys(reporters/investigators) reported any information on the people responsible for this scam? These people had to show up at the courthouse to make these transactions. Somone(that works at the courthouse) was supposed to accept identification and make copies or notes of this. Someone at the courthouse had to look at, accept and approve these changes. Where are all of these people? We keep hearing about the victims but nothing on the fraudsters and their partners that work at the courthouse.
