      What model did you buy? I started with a Canon T3i (600D) in 2012. I loved that camera so much. I sometimes forget the excitement of your first DSLR and playing around with all the features. Such as the creative filters and experimenting. Like ok I have an iso of 6400. You couldn't even buy film that went that high. So how dark can it get and still get a decent image and etc. This channel helps me remember that. I gave my daughter my T3i and I know shoit with a 5D mark III and a Canon 90D. I actually love the 90D because it's a nice hybrid between my pro 5D mark III and my T3i. Enjoy your new camera and never stop enjoying using it.

    From iso.org "Because 'International Organization for Standardization' would have different acronyms in different languages (IOS in English, OIN in French for Organisation internationale de normalisation), our founders decided to give it the short form ISO. ISO is derived from the Greek isos, meaning equal. Whatever the country, whatever the language, we are always ISO."
    It's a word "iso", nt an acronym "I-S-O". Think isometric or isochronous.

    To be pedantic ISO does not control light. It does nothing to light. What it controls is the amount of electrical gain applied to the signal received (at the cost of noise, detail, dynamic range and colour depth). It should usually be the last option for obtaining (the appearance of) correct exposure.

    Thanks for these tips, Paul. Just a simple question. Hitting the asterisk again will unlock exposure?

    • @photogenius
      @photogenius  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      No, if you hit the lock (asterisk) button it locks the exposure again - to unlock you can press any button on the rear of the camera (try the q button), or wait for camera to sleep or take an image. Thanks for watching.

      @@photogenius Hey Poul, on my M5 and M100 exposure lock locks it, if you hit it again, it unlocks it... It may be different setup between MILC and DSLRs...

    Can you help with a video about Sigma 18-250 mm lens for Canon. Its advantages and disadvantages from canon 55-250 mm.

    Just found your videos. Best I have found to date, because you explain things assuming the listener doesn’t know anything, which I don’t! Too many TH-cam photographers assume a level of knowledge. Can I respectfully suggest when explaining features, you show photos that explain what you are talking about. Just a thought. Have subbed, thanks for posting.

      Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave feedback - it is very much appreciated. I'm glad you are enjoying the videos and will certainly take on board your suggestion of including more images.

    Keep up the good job Paul!
    E) Finally got off work and had a chance to view the video :p
    Tip 1 works for Nikon as well 👍
    Tip 2 works, at least, with the D3400 (but in the front near the barrel and after setting the FN button to Iso - Just like in the video) 👍
    Tip 3 The Nikon D3400 also have a bunch of editing features that might find your liking while out in the field ^.^

    Great advice and tips thank you! My daughter bought me this last week for my big 50 as I’m always taking photos on my phone .. I love taking photos! Would you recommend joining a local photography group? I’m going out now to take lighthouse shots 🤞🏻

    I like your tabletop tripod on this video. Can you share brand, where purchased??? Would it work with bigger/longer lense? Is it pretty stable? Thanks so much

    • @photogenius
      @photogenius  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Marcia
      The mini tripod I use the most is the Manfrotto PIXI EVO: amzn.to/2HTMe22
      Depending on weight it should work with a telephoto.

    Thanks for the tutorials, I can't find my RAW settings on my Canon PowerShot SX20IS, I want high res & I need images at 300dpi.

    • @photogenius

      Hi Dawn, I've just checked and from what can see the SX20IS does not offer the option to shoot RAW. SO check your settings and make sureyiou are shooting in the highest Jpeg and resolution settings.

    Hi Paul i am going to buy a Canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III as i am just starting out. Would this be suitable as it suits the budget at present. Want to get some shots of the moon? And great easy to watch videos as well.

    • @photogenius
      @photogenius  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a good focal length - you should be able to get reasonable moon photos with that!
