A boy named Shō remembers the week in summer he spent at his mother's home with his maternal great aunt, Sadako, and the housemaid, Haru. When Shō arrives, he gets a glimpse of Arrietty, a Borrower girl, returning to her home through an underground air vent.

I remember my subtitles saying "You forgot something". I thought it was so cute and romantic. But maybe it wasn't the correct translation? 😅

After watching the Borrowers as a kid, I went around the house putting ladders in bathtubs in case they got stuck in there.
Miyazaki has " come out of retirement" sooo many times over the years.... we just dont know. Us hardcore fans just go with it! I have every single one on blu-ray. I love Castle in the Sky!
i keep forgetting that Tom Holland is the one who's voicing Sho/Shawn in this version of the film lol
Only in the UK version, the American Version has David Henrie in the role as Sho, who in my honest opinion was completely miscasted in the role as Sho.

I’m actually impressed that you along with LIPPSSMACKER, WorkingTitleReacts, Reel-Time and 3 Katanas are one of the few reaction channels to react to the films of Studio Ghibli, who have been notorious on taking down clips and reactions of anything related to Ghibli hence why they’re not as many reactors doing reactions to their films out of fear and caution that those video reactions would be copyrighted by Studio Ghibli themselves. How do you manage to do it?

There’s actually two different English versions of _The Secret World of Arietty_ the American release has Bridgit Mendler, David Henrie, Carol Burnett, Will Arnett and Amy Phoeler while the UK version (the one you guys are watching) had Saoirse Ronan, Tom Holland, Mark Strong and Olivia Colman.
It’s hard to say which one I like, but I do think Tom Holland was casted better as Sho than David Henrie in the American release.

If you like Studio Ghibli, you should watch Mamoru Hosoda's works. He has many famous works in Japan and is an animator recognized by Hayao Miyazaki.

I see that this is the U.K. dub. It’s interesting to hear this because I’m more accustomed to the us dub. Since I watch it a lot when it was first released. But I didn’t know Tom Holland was in it.
Hello Suzy and Steejo just to let know in the American version of this movie the boy narrates that he returned a year later, he never saw Arrietty again but a neighbor a few houses down reported things going "missing".

If you liked this version, then you should also react to the 1996 live-action movie "The Borrowers", with John Goodman, it's great too, it has a different vibe, more goofy and lighthearted. We still follow the misadventures of Arrietty and her family (with a small addition, she has a little brother named Peagreen in this one, which for the little anecdote is played by Tom Felton aka Draco Malfoy in his very first role).
Cecile Corbel did the music and singing in English and Japanese; and she's French! I went crazy for the soundtrack so started picking up her albums; they are all jewels.

I'm so used to the American English version. I memorized every single line. I watched this movie like twice a week for like 3 years. Hearing this version is so weird.
So many people seem to forget this is a Studio Ghibli film. It’s my personal favorite…though Bridget Mendler miiiiight be why lol

The ost of this movie isn’t made by the usual composer of most Miyazaki’s movie but by a French musician named Cecil Corbel, specialised in Celtic songs

I Loved the concept of The Barrowers, but the execution was not the best. So when this Ghibli remake came out and it was absolutely beautiful I was SO HAPPY!

I've always thought when I watched this movie. I think Arriety and Sho are soulmates but sadly just not meant to be 😢😢
You should react to Whisper of the Heart, From Up on Poppy Hill, and The Cat Returns next. The Cat Returns is a spin off from Whisper of the Heart, so you should watch Whisper of the Heart first and then The Cat Returns afterwards.

The two last ones weren't directed by Hayeo Miyazaki. They were good studio Ghibli movies I watched with my sister that we liked.
