@NicholasDube-q9w they are mostly on off road vehicles because it's a foam filter, which is cleanable and reusable. A must have if you have an atv (or any off road vehicle) and ride on dusty trails
Correct me if I’m wrong but wouldn’t a metal heat shield next to the exhaust do more harm than good Becuase it’s going to soak up the heat then the intake is still going to be getting hot air
You are wrong. Radiant heat transfer is an exponential function proportional to the source temperature to the 4th power minus the temperature of the receiver to the 4th power. So, between the manifold and intake this differential occurs twice and there will be a very large temperature loss. Most manufacturers just use plain metal sheet for heat shielding on ordinary cars.
@midlifecarsis6420 what would be even better tho is wrapping the exhaust in heat wrap. And maybe even making a custom airbox that seals with the hood and had a tube to draw in cold air, maybe straight down
I would have just moves the throttle body directly to the throttle body and them engine may be small but they are mighty if u port it and skimmed the he'd down for higher compression with a bigger set of injectors your talking extra 55hp with the throttle body directly on the aluminium intake
If there's one improvement a 5 doesn't need, it's to the gear shift. Is it me or is there no oil in your shifter turret? 😂 100% the best cheap mod you can do to a 5 is a brake stopper. The bulkhead flex under braking is hilarious and brake feel is massively improved, even more so with brakes that are capable of greater clamping force. Also, please please please get a proper roll bar.
I really like this build (because it looks like a fun car to work on). But that paint job looks kind of crappy and incomplete. The undercarriage needs some paint urgently. Good luck with the build.

Are you going to get racing sparks and mess with the timings? Not sure how you'd fix the slop in the steering but as you brought up that seems important to do.

what I would have done for the intake to actually make it a cold air intake, is take inspiration from the pretty sure its the fab speed cold air intake for an ek9 civic, and re route it down to an opening in the bumper

I think it’s just a dust filter that goes over the air filter. Usually have only seen that in off road vehicles.

@@krabby8216cotton air filters are also reusable. Just clean them and apply new oil
