I had just downloaded the TV mini series SOMETHING IS OUT THERE 1988, Robert Webber's last appearance before he died of ALS in 1989. It was a surprise to stumble on this episode with him playing the possessed young man in the show.

I don't exclude an underlying personality disorder which could explain his obsession with the captain but overall, the final scene looks more like a mental breakdown. Not the first, nor the last crisis he would have in his life if he had a chronic mental condition. That's it. Everything else was added for sensation. The Ghost and Mrs.Muir was a movie made in 1947,later turned into a t.v series in 1968-1970.
But this was an evil spirit, not a good spirit. I have the novel, “The Ghost and Mrs. Muir”, Captain Gregg DID NOT possess someone else’s body.
