hahaha... stuck with a female character! That was hilarious. I'm impressed you narrowed down the 3 hours we played down into 7mins. Great review... you make some awesome points. I love the game, but I do see your points, it is missing something big... that something that wants to bring you back, because until I played with you... I havent played it since I reviewed it. But when I first bought it... I really did enjoy playing it for a couple weeks. But I do agree, it's way more fun playing with friends.. and I think this is what this game is for being it having no solo campaign, multiplayer is where it lyes. But I also agree with you, that you probably have been spoilt with the amount of different headsets you have, as you know... I'm Quest 3 only, so I have no other to compare to, so I probably enjoyed the game more than you would have, so you have made great and fair assessments in all this video.
@@GotchaVR Thank you. I had fun playing with you, but I went in and made a new character and got him to level 10, and that is when I got bored with the game.
This game should receive big patch soon (they work on it), with quests system and achievements, they promise new bosses and more weapons. It is fun game to play with friends, but it is true that this game missing something, for me personally i just want more satisfying loot and better chances to get this loot on higher difficulty tiers.
Thank you, I think the game could really benefit from a few small changes that would make it really top tier, but in the current state it is just a little lacking, in my opinion. The potential is definitely there.
Nothing worse than a dungeon crawler that doesn't give the player incentive to keep going back. Fair review which highlights pros and cons well, good job.
@ObserVR-gamer as long as the criticism is constructive and not malicious, then it should always be encouraged in my opinion. Unfortunately not everybody can stomach people criticising something they have put time into or that they enjoy, especially online. This was honest, straight to the point and informative. How all reviews should be.
@@geddybear9108 thank you, I am glad I didn't just come off as a party pooper. I don't want to be discouraging, and I recognize that a lot if work and passion goes into game development, which is why I tried to at least suggest a possible fix before criticising someone elses creation.
There's plenty worse than a dungeon crawler that doesn't give the player incentive to keep going back, but I get the point lol. I'm glad this video had a criticism focused perspective!
@@jjbonta Definitely. The game mechanics in Blade and Sorcery were good, but that was really all it had to offer. Them adding a campaign, and progression made a world of difference for me.
@@ObserVR-gamer yeah I think there's a huge chunk of players waiting for a DoE story mode DLC to release. It's in their official roadmap to hopefully release no later than the end of winter 2024. I reviewed the game and roadmap in one of my videos, I think it's on my channel home page. Not to toot my own horn, but I'd love for you to check it out!
@@ObserVR-gamer you would think it would be in your player room, but it's only in the main menu there should be a gender icon at the bottom of your character near the level. A bit obscure.
I didn't know this game was unfinished. But... almost everything on Quest looks and feels more like an unfinished tech demo than a complete game to me. The QC is appalling. I kinda like this one but I agree on the problems. I'm struggling to find any great games on Quest so I grade on a curve.... There's a few sins that ruin any game. One is infinite lives with instant respawning... takes away the challenge. 2nd is the repetition. They try to dress it up but you basically repeat the same 4 levels over and over. 3rd the lack of progression. I don't understand why I care about leveling up when the baddies get instantly leveled up too... so you never feel stronger that you did on day 1. Perhaps developers are crippled by stingy memory on Quest. They really messed up not including an SD card slot.
@@Zebra66 I would agree that about 80% if not more of the games on standalone are sub par. It is one of the reasons why I prioritize my PS VR2, and most if that is due to QC. Quest seems to prefer quantity over quality and a lot if their fans seem to fall for it. This game has the potential to be great, but instead it is a fun little multiplayer title, that lacks the substance to be a truly top tier game. I would much rather play through Legendary Tales campaign over and over than run through this. Both have kind of a small pool of assets, but Legendary Tales uses those assets to construct a world and story, while this game just procedurally compiles them into shallow and unrewarding maps. Legendary Tales progression feels like an accomplishment while this game never does. Just my opinion of course.
@ObserVR-gamer The Quest can also be used for PC VR but most of the titles are the same as standalone but with better graphics. I found that disappointing too. I thought it would have been a relatively easy no-brainer for them to convert all the FPS games to VR but no wolfenstein or Doom Eternal yet.
@Zebra66 I wish. They just dont see the customer base yet to bother, and it seems like a large task. This is why I am so excited about Flat 2 VR. I hope that Trombone Champ has a string enough launch that it will signal to other game companies that there is value in having a VR port of their games. If therewas ever a time to vote with your dollar, Trombone Champ is the vote to make, in my opinion.
I wish they'd revisit some older games for inspiration and for a guide on QC and what makes a great game. Something that seems to be getting lost in modern graphics. Games like Wonderboy 3 on the Master System, Legend of Mystical Ninja and Super Mario World on the Snes and Speedball 2 on the Genesis. These games had the ideal amount of game, challenge, story, replayability and innovation. No modern games come close. If current VR tech were available at the time... I'd probably be on a Speedball team in some online league looking to upgrade my armor right now. It would be epic. We don't need devs to waste time on boring cut-scenes. Or use up our entire hard drive on slightly more realistic shadows...
@Zebra66 I agree with you for the most part. I think it is nice to have some great looking games. I think they have a place, but a beautiful boring game, or game with no narrative hook or incentive to progress just isnt appealing.
