    We lost our little boy feb 25th, the nurses were amazing, they were so gentle with him. Took him to get his feet and handprints and made us a little memory box for him. They were extremely patient and loving when I didn’t want to leave him, they kept me updated with who was looking after him. I wish we had met them in better circumstances and I wish my son was here 🥺
    EDIT: our son has blessed us with a sibling for him. It’s very early days, we are 7 weeks now ❤️ thank you all for the love in the comments it is very appreciated, god bless

    I had an emergency c section with my daughter and when I was finally able to shower the nurse helped me take off those cute hospital undies (🙄) and plop! The floor looked like a murder just occurred. It got on her shoes and the bottom on her pants. I was so embarrassed and started apologizing. She looked at me and said ‘don’t worry about it!! It happens all the time!’. She was such an angel. The world needs more great nurses!

      Nurses are the true caregivers during childbirth!! Most not all are extremely compassionate and work in that field because they want to help! I remember one time when I was assisting a lady having her baby, there was the most stone cold face rude nurse I’d ever met and I’ve met plenty in the field. My client was desperate to use the birth ball even just on the bed but was told no by the nurse so when she wasn’t there my client begged for it and of course I gave it to her( this was a low risk pregnancy and uncomplicated labor) so she cane in and scolded us mostly me because birth assistants, doulas were still mostly treated as a threat to the system because our clients were educated by us as to their rights as a patient and how different positions in labor help with pain and Lessing the time of labor at times let alone help the baby and mother use gravity to their benefit but for some nurses it’s aggravating to have to adjust the fetal monitor and so forth, I told my client she could ask for another nurse as it is her right and the next one was a blessing and was so happy a doula was their to help! Since the nurses do most of the care during birth and catch their fair share of babies many go into the midwifery field and quite a few chose Homebirth, doctors as well. Educating yourself on the subject of pregnancy and childbirth options plus choosing a birth practitioner that is open to your wishes rather than laughing and saying good luck( I’ve seen that with my own 2 eyes) is so very important! Remember it’s your body and your baby, don’t let the choices be made for you. Here’s a link to the difference in the midwifery model of care v.s the medical model of care if anyone is interested! This is s passion of mine so I always comment when I feel I can help anyone with knowledge that might help them feel empowered!birthlink.com/midwife-vs-medical-models-of-care/

      I had a similar situation after my c-section. I *needed* to wash my face. I felt so disgusting. There was a sink just 10 feet from my bed. My catheter was still in, but I could move my legs. She taped the catheter to my leg and let me lean on her to get to the sink and, like you said, blood bath all over the floor. I was trying to clean it up with paper towels and she was so nice about it 😅

      Really? I had a C-section too, emergency tho with mines. But the dr actually did such a great job cleaning durring the C-section that I never actually bled. She took everything out that was due to shed durring the surgery. She was a blessing. I never got the two or more weeks of it. No pitocin either to motivate my uterus. It was my first too so I just assumed every C-section didn’t bleed vaginally as dr was supposed to suck it all out prior to closing. I did not hold my daughter skin to skin tho until almost an hr after. 😢

New moms, ready for the nurse to massage your belly to help the uterus contract, immediately postpartum. Nursing baby will also release oxytocin to contract your uterus(youll feel uterus contractions) and possibly sleepiness so be sure to nurse somewhere comfortable for both yourself and baby during the early months.

    Not only did she COMPLETELY prevent tearing, she made it the least painful experience possible for my mother. Obviously you can’t prevent the pain but her care just showed that it doesn’t cost a damn thing to sit down, be patient, and actually care about first, second, or third time mothers in labor.

He was rushed to the nicu and I only got to hold him on my chest for about 20 seconds. He hopefully comes home today!! ❤❤

    Or you get have horrible nurses like I did (vertical c-sections for both). With my first I attempted breastfeeding but wasn’t producing enough milk. My daughter lost 2 lbs. I’m trying to figure out why she won’t stop crying and the bitch said it’s your problem deal with it.
    With my second I called the nurse for my pain med (since I was literally cut up the middle) she never brought it. I asked the morning nurse if the doctor said not to give me anything and she went to look. She was mad. Basically the night nurse was lazy and missed giving my meds twice.
    Sad thing is this hospital here claims they are the place for babies. Considering they almost killed my oldest I think not.

    If you need pain relief be aware a lot contain opioids, which can make you a rather spacey and it makes it difficult to look after baby properly. Same if you have an epidural, and these can also make the baby sleepy.
    All this can interfere with you getting enough sleep, and the baby feeding and/or breastfeeding, so be careful.

    • @amieparham7657

      I think it's supposed to be "uninterrupted". At the hospital I was at most recently, they did not even let my husband hold the baby until that first hour was up. He didn't mind, but I was like "He's been praying for this baby too, I can share!"

    • @TheLucy1014
      @TheLucy1014 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, uninterrupted is what I think she meant to say. The context is saying you can ask the weights and measurements can be done in the first hour but otherwise it's best to have that time with baby and do that after

    • @sarahgoldberg6614
      @sarahgoldberg6614 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I had twins via c section, but not in the US. There will be pediatricians in the OR to check each baby as they are born, and if the babies are fine you will get to hold each one within a minute. I was shaking and vomiting so hard after they were born, that I had my husband hold mine for safety. In the hospital where I gave birth, (in Ireland) there is a student midwife whose main duty, after positioning you for the spinal anesthesia, is taking pictures of the babies.
      After I was reassembled, I was wheeled to a recovery area for monitoring for about an hour or 2. My husband stayed with me and we decided which baby would get which name. I was given water but no food yet. Once the nurse was satisfied that I was OK, I was moved to a ward and given tea and toast. We were advised to bring snacks with us in our bags, so I also had a cookie or 2, and plenty of water. I was served the next meal, and after the spinal had worn off enough, I was permitted to shower with help.
      My vitals were monitored every fee hours.
      The next morning, my IV and catheter were removed. We were lucky enough to all be healthy enough that we could go home after 2 days and get daily home midwife visits for the next few days, which was a relief because I was on an open ward.

      @sarahgoldberg6614 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @arithefierysecretary6411 I was super lucky to just have a bit of anemia, so mine weren't scheduled for extraction until 38+1.
      I hope you and yours do well. 2 things I did not expect- twins try to eat each other's heads all the time and at 5.5 months I am already an expert at breaking up fights. That said, the fact that there are 2 of them means they can deal if I walk away for a few minutes to use the toilet and they can help soothe each other back to sleep at night.

    Why would the skin to skin wanted to be interrupted? Or did I get that wrong?? I mean, is should be mom or dad who is holding the baby in the first hours. If I was to have a baby in the hospital, I would only let go of my baby for the dad or once I would need a nap. The measuring etc, I would want the dad being involved. Not that I wouldn't trust the nurse. But for my baby.
    Yes, if won't remember if it was on another person's arm for a minute. But in the long run, I would wanna have as much peace and quiet with my baby and this dad as possible.
    I don't have kids, I should think about that I guess

    PKU test after 1st hour too? I'm very curious... I'm a genetic carrier of the PKU gene & have had a child without PKU, but was encouraged to allow the test immediately after birth & before skin to skin. Is that because it's necessary immediately or because I was a gene carrier (for baby's safety?)

    Question: if you have to be stitched up down there, you do get some form of numbing agent for that right?...Because if not thats really messed up😢...Maybe im just over thinking it, but my paranoid brain is telling me that the nurces wouldnt care to do so because we already went through the pain of childbirth and we should be able to "handle it"!

I was being wheeled out for an emergency C-section and I said, I feel like I need to poo or push or something!! The nurse didn't believe me as she had just checked me about 5 minutes prior. I begged her to check and as she did, told the other nurse to grab the doctor. He walked in just in time to catch her. It flipping gurt so bad, but we immediately got to bond and her vitals went to great pretty quickly. That was my most intense so far. She was born 4 days late, on the 4th, @4:44am.
