    Oh, lovely, I used to grow the konjac, but I gave it away, since it wasn't doing very well and, after 3 years, since I wasn't happy with its evolution, I gave it to someone that wanted to try it out.

      The Green Nerd Yes, they had a house and kept them in their garden, so they did better outside, in large pots.

    Great video. I listened with interest to your description of konjac's growth pattern and in fact I have observed this with my own. Sometimes when autumn comes and I excavate it I find one tuber on top and slightly attached to a lower desiccated tuber. Great to see titanum too.

    I have 3 species of amorphophallus. Amorphopallus bulbifer ( pink flower), amorphophallus konjac ( the voodoo lily, can be eaten and is in Japan I think) and finally amorphophallus titanium ( I have no idea how I'm going to keep growing it. It was baught as a seed this year so its very small.) I love them, unusual plants that grow in a alien way. They also look like tropical trees when they go through their leaf phase. I grow most of them ( apart from the baby titanium in my house) in my greenhouse. But I have been trying and have been told that Amorphophallus bulbifer can grow outside( in UK), being frost tender so needing lifting before winter. This isn't so much a new problem as I already dig up many other bulbs anyway.

    I'm curious to what they will become! I will continue to watch the series to see, they must look awesome since your growing them and say their blooms stink! Thank you for showing us!

      Denise, I grow a few of these plants. I'm getting ready to plant some for the spring as they are just coming out of dormancy. My A. paeonifiolius got huge last year. Never had them flower but the leaf stage is just as interesting. Like having little trees around the house and garden.

    I really enjoyed your video. I grow these plants too. How are they doing now? I'm sure they are much bigger. I have some videos on my channel of my amorphs. Mine have just broken dormancy so I have to do this potting up now. Greetings from Florida.

    They are strangely addictive for a genus that all look pretty similar! I have four different forms of A. konjac and A. albus, which seem to do well here in England. A. kiusianus is another one with beautiful leaf and bloom, which seems to be ok here though mine are just seedlings still. Unfortunately A. dunnii and yuloensis seem to need more heat to grow well.
    Sauromatum horsfieldii is another really beautiful one, the leaves are almost like velvet when the light shines on them.

      Alex Watson hey! Thanks for tempting me to buy more! I have atro viridis on the way which is beautiful because its leaves are purple! I noticed the velvet effect on my venosum too last year. I hope my climate is good enough to give paeoniifolius a decent growing season. I want the big leaf but would be hard to keep it indoors! 😂

    How did you get on with the amorphophallus titanum? i just bought a seedling and all the help i can get 😅

    • @thegreennerd7329
      @thegreennerd7329  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      ElectraSnow hey 👋 they are doing good. The titanum doesn’t seem to be as hard as they say, just don’t get it cold AT All. Always above 20C.

      @@thegreennerd7329 Thank you for the help 😊thats very good to know, the room that i grow most of my house plants in usually always stays above 20C and i have a large greenhouse that i'm hoping will do it some good through the summer months here in the UK, i know it will change when it starts to grow a bigger corm from a seedling but when did yours start its dormancy and how long for? Just so i have a bit of a guideline, Thanks for the advice 😊

    • @thegreennerd7329
      @thegreennerd7329  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ElectraSnow they didn’t really go dormant until the corm reach a good size. Sometimes they even have two leaves at a time. I think they don’t like it too dry either, maybe check your humidity.
