How often do you water it during seedling?

2 years of dormancy doesn't seem right, something wrong happened. The most these will have based on what i've read, is around 2-3 months and some species not even 1 month.

I have it in Singapore. The flower really stinks!

Hi Tommy. Danke fur der video! I'm Lee from the Netherlands. I fell in love with this plant and ordered one. It just came in, but it's a bulb with a growing point I see a white stem coming but no roots. It's almost July. What should I do with it. Will there be enough time for the plant to grow before winter or should I let it stay dormant until next spring? What would happen if I don't?

Vanda javierae is endemic to my country,the Philippines; in the North and it's quite rare and not as popular to gardeners in my country,being mainly tropical. These are cold grower,just like the similar looking Vanda barnessi,also a Philippine native. This one is even rarer than V.javierae. Both are more popular overseas than in its native country.

They don't actually need water drops to disperse the seeds. They shoot them out themselves. The seeds are enclosed in a thin membrane and once the seed capsule is open, the membranes dry out and shrink and then that squeezes the seeds out. I have one in a terrarium next to my bed and when there are a lot of seed capsules open in a day, I hear the seeds getting shot around inside the terrarium. If I look long enough, I see it happen with my own eyes and a couple of times I've managed to film it. You even hear the sound in this video: watch?v=JeBRFYsvhDg
