Remember that the development of the domestic robot hit an unexpected snag: Every home being connected to a global network that gives unknown folks in other countries root access to your robots terribly insecure implementation of BusyBox! 😉
Except in South Africa, where thousands of motorists rely on safe, reliable and dependable robots every single day! 😁
(If you don’t understand the latter: Look up the Afrikaan use of the word „Robot”… 😉)

But even my grandmother, born in 1908 and having received only the most basic education, would have been able to tell this professor that the flimsy hands he is showing us will NOT lift a ton. She probably would have looked at the man, too, and suggested that by wanting a full decade for development he might not be around long enough to be asked where the million had gone.

The way Mabel reached out with those transparent, skeletal fingers to tap the woman awake, then just sat there, zooming in on her with antennae and telescoping eyes whilst the woman just wanted to drink her morning tea; it all rather gave me the shivers. I found it most unnerving. I'm so glad Mabel never came to pass.
