    Her understanding of the male nature is impressive. Don't see that often. Her emotional intelligence is also off the scale. Very interesting secure, confident alpha woman.

    • @numbers7n
      @numbers7n 5 ปีที่แล้ว +38

      Yes!! She, knowingly or not, is brushing shoulders with the topic of male obsession, fixation, study, dedication, etc.., This tendency for men to obsessed with things and women to be more focused on people is a real thing.
      This is yet another example of a man pushing the envelope of what humans can do, what we know, using new technology to discover what can be done, chasing perfection, etc.
      It TENDS to be males that take risks, make discoveries, explore the oceans, travel to Mars, or die trying... Always at the edges, pushing civilization into new territories,., it’s nearly always men. Good for Laird.

    Surfing cannot be explained, once you stand up on a wave and ride the energy your hooked. Sex, drugs and any libation will not.compare!. It's unexplainable,time, space ,worries vanish and it all about the wave and you, Mother nature at is scariest and best at the same time,.amazing, simply amazing.

      It's because you are riding something that is very unique, no 2 waves exactly alike, and it is extremely powerful and propelling you as you navigate and decide what maneuvers you want to do at that very moment. It is a sensation that can not be explained to anyone who hasn't done it. People try and relate it to skateboarding, snowboarding, flying, all forms of waterskiing, etc. it isn't, it's totally unique. And frankly, the more pure the better, the smaller the board the better. No SUPs, toe ins, etc. I respect the dudes charging 15 foot 3rd reef pipe or surfing chops, paddling in on a normal board waaaay more that guys getting toed in on 40 foot Mavericks or wherever. The critical pop up, the reef, getting thrown over the falls, etc.

    Only new to this lady.
    She has an impressive understanding of the male mind and how it works and how to go with it
    Not trying to domesticate or castrate her man into a pathetic human being but going with it and getting to enjoy the better person she is allowing and encouraging him to be.

    Gabby married a man with severe adhd and depression . Laird self medicates by riding huge waves, it releases large amounts of dopamine, and some serotonin. It probably balances him out somewhat...for a short time....then he will need another " fix". It must be exhausting for Gabby to deal with the up and down ride. She definitely has some intensity herself which a professional athlete must have to be competitive, but she seems to have good self awareness which is important. She seems very intelligent, which is a probably the most attractive trait in a human being. I could see her as a great mom to her kids. If you can read between the lines you can see her relationship with laird takes a toll on her emotionally.

    It’s so obvious why Laird and Gabby have been together so long - both alpha personalities, both have independent sports/interest, and immense respect and love for each other. What a combo!

    Seems a bit odd to say that "big wave riding is a calling." How many big waves is enough to know you've met your life's purpose. Is that a bit selfish? Their relationship works because she dare not get in the way of Laird's pursuit.

    Laird Hamilton is a well balanced exceptional athlete that is a genuine force for good he’s respectful to elders and has brought a few smart ass pro surfers back into line especially in Fiji haha
    They asked his mum ‘do you worry about laird in these huge waves? She said no I don’t worry about Laird but I do worry about his buddies that go with him….
    Pretty much sums up how hard core Laird is

    hearing stuff like this gives me hope. i love my girlfriend so incredibly much and shes my future wife and mother of my children. no doubt all that said, i sometimes feel scared of my freedom being lost, by that i dont mean freedom to be with other women, she is no doubt all i need...what i mean is losing my freedom to be out in the sun, out at the river, working out and especially kayaking. i have a good social life but honestly some of the best times r me kayaking and in the nicer months, sometimes every day. i feel a mans sense of adventure is very strong and it gives him the will to live in alot of ways. gabby clearly understands this. my girl does too and is the best but she does want to be with me all the time which it seems lots of women do. i dont want to sacrifice too much time for avid kayaking neither now nor when we have kids. fuck that shit ahhhaha. i think its every mans job to speak up for what he wants just as its every womans as well. all that being said, sacrifice is very necessary and when having kids it will require more and i am willing for that lol

    Theres a threshhold to the amount of support from your parents/partner/siblings/colleagues where it gets weird. I dont need you to support me, but you support me by staying a little levelheaded as well, a little balance of wave and rock... thats good... calm and storm.
