    The s2k was my first clutch job and honesty it was super easy just very time consuming like you stated. The factory service manual was my friend

      The factory service manual is pretty solid. Its a little vague about some things and doesn't illustrate technique so I'm hoping these videos will complement the factory service manual.

    I installed a ebay clutch kit in my s2000 this past summer (it was $200 for everything) i installed it myself and i luckily didnt run into any trouble because like you i was prepared before my repair. I do agree with you use oem parts because the one in my car now has clutch buzz like crazy otherwise its okay and functional. I would only recommend it to anyone that cant afford anything better.

      Also i would like to add you're right about the premature failure with the bearings. I havnt had a problem with the ebay ones yet... but if sure its going to be the first thing to fail they looked and felt the cheapest from the kit i got

    Excellent videos - thanks so much for putting this together. I need to decide whether to purchase a flywheel for my 2003 ap1 clutch job. Actually, I am assembling the oem parts to do the job in anticipation of the possibility that the parts may be discontinued down the road. I'm confident that my low mileage street driven ap1 will need a new clutch down the road sooner rather than later during my ownership. Is it fair to say that the old flywheel will most likely be serviceable where I am replacing a worn out oem clutch for the first time, (ie. no after market clutch parts have ever been used)? When the time comes for me the situation will be that the original oem parts are just worn out and sticky etc.- probably the real problem likely be that the slider for the clutch release bearing is dry and worn - that is what I expect will force me to pull the transmission off and when I do that I will put in a complete new clutch.

      You can resurface the OEM flywheel no problem. I’ve done it every time.

    One other thing to add. Spoon makes ridged collars that go in-between the subframe and frame rails. They keep the subframe perfectly straight in the car. Yes there is movement and will throw out you alignment. Have an alignment check done after.

      I plan to add spoon rigid collars to my car soon and will make a DIY video for that but I don't think it is really relevant to the clutch job.
      The subframe typically ends up shifting on cars that are tracked and pushed to the absolute limit. For this reason I don't really recommend spoon rigid collars for street cars.
      Additionally, spoon rigid collars are only helpful after your car has been properly aligned after installation of the spoon rigid collars. So in this case your alignment may change whether or not you install rigid collars.

    Thanks for the set of videos! I know higher is always better when it comes to jacking the car up, but do you have any idea how high yours was with a respective reference point?

      I don’t but it was close to the highest your typical 3 ton jackstands would go.

    Find forget about the slide for the throw out bearing. They usually worn pretty bad. Also there are a few parts for fork I would recommend replacing also.

      I know LHT likes to make a big deal about how they always replace the clutch release bearing guide but I am skeptical as to necessary it is to replace it which is why I omitted it from this video. My clutch release bearing guide had 150K miles and seemed to be in fine shape. I will add a note to the description however since it is worth mentioning.
      I know the clutch fork develops a small amount of play but again even at 150K miles with some play in the clutch fork my new clutch feels amazing. I don't see how a minute amount of clutch fork play would really be worth replacing.

    is "ACT 600355 XACT Streetlite Flywheel " any good for Honda S2000 AP1. I am going to install it. Or should I resurface the original Honda S2000 flywheel

      It is definitely pretty overwhelming when you’re just reading s2ki or following the shop manual since they are both somewhat vague. I’ll be sure to cover a lot of tips and tricks for the more difficult situations.

    Did you reuse the Flywheel and pressure plate bolts? If so any thread locker etc.

      Reused all bolts. No thread locker required if torqued correctly.

    My clutch pedal feel very soft after my clutch replacement. Is it normal?
    I've tried bleeding the clutch system still feel soft. Then thought it could be the master clutch cylinder, changed and bleed again got all the air out but still feel the same.
    The clutch was perfectly fine on the day doing my clutch replacement. What could it possibly be? Thanks in advance

    I have a 2000 honda s2000 with only 52k on it. The clutch buzz is bothering me! Would I be able to get rid it of completely with these 5 honda oem parts? Thank you.

      Yes. I don’t even think you could buy a friction disc that would have clutch buzz anymore.

    I have an important question, you said that at least a 36" extension is needed to get to the transmission bolts but the link you provided only goes up to a 30" extension?

      You can combine multiple parts of the set to create a long extension. Anyhow, I believe I used the 30” so 36 might be a little conservative depending on what sockets/universal joint you are using.

      Should be done on an as needed basis. Personally never seen a leaking rear main seal.

      eBay. However if I were to do it again I may buy the kit made by SACHS sold on rock auto.

      DIYGuys thanks. SACHS friction disk looks exactly like OE. I wonder if it performs like OE.

      I think the conclusion was that the part numbers are slightly different but the quality is probably the same.

      Older versions of the OEM clutch that you can no longer buy yeah.

      @@DIYGuysvideo i've heard of many people who had the newer part number clutch plates that still have clutch buzz. it's more of a 50/50 thing. Meanwhile many others have had amazing luck with exedy "oem" replacement clutches.

      04+ friction discs don’t buzz. Exedy clutches might not buzz but they are garbage. I have broken one myself.
