I just made this with smoked oysters. Delicious. Creamy. Loved that I was able to get good creaminess from 2% milk. Thank you for sharing this recipe. It's a keeper.
This looks really good! I wish I was there to have a cup! What I liked most of all was...That you did not spend about 45 minutes making the viewers watch you stir! Most video cooks take great pride in showing how great they are at stirring. This is one of the very best videos I haved seen!! Thank you for being smart and considerate!
I just found your channel and I'm hooked! Just by the amount of heat you added to this recipe, I trust you implicitly. I'm trying out this recipe tomorrow and am excited.
Followed your recipe to a tee, except portions of veggies were probably larger. I used 1 cup milk with 1 cup heavy cream. This stew was nothing short of fantastic. Used fresh oysters!
This looks pretty good my dude! I actually got gifted some oysters yesterday! I think I'll be making this recipe either today or tomorrow. Sounds and looks great!
I am so psyched to try this. I just made oyster stew recently and it was awesome but only 5 ingredients, this looks very interesting will try. Thanks for sharing
I've been looking for a recipe with a little more than just milk, butter garlic and onion, but still not too overwhelming. This looks perfect and I can't wait to get started on this tonight!😋 Thanks, and happy holidays!
@@ChiliPepperMadness I must return to let you know that this is the very best oyster stew that I have ever had in my mouth! A fairly simple set of fresh ingredients and simple spices that delivers a complex array of flavors that will keep you eating it for as long as it lasts.😋 I followed the instructions to the letter and only added a dash of Worcestershire (was its here sauce?!?)😁 to the mix that I'd like to believe, kicked it to an even higher level! Either way, I have to pay proper homage to you, the chef that made it all deliciously possible.😁 Happy New Year to you and yours, my friend! Edit: ps. Guys, get some quality oysters crackers for this one! I reccomend Newbury Mills if you can get your grubby little fingers on them!
@@ChiliPepperMadness Thanks. I made it today after harvesting fresh oysters using the same recipe in the video. I used jalapenos and added extra Franks red hot sauce. Outstanding flavor on a cold winter day!!
Thanks. You can use clam juice, which you can find bottled, or some seafood stock. If you have none of those, a bit of chicken stock can work. Let me know how it turns out for you. Enjoy!
That doesn't seem like a "stew". Its more like an oyster cream sauce. I thought it would have potatoes or rice...maybe some bowtie noodles... Doesn't this usually have a kind of bean in it?
Traditional version does not typically include beans. Simplicity is the key here. But certain variations can definitely be found in different households, incorporating various vegetables.
What was the best oyster stew you ever had?

Yes, enjoy! We love this recipe! Need another bowl!
I put mines over rice 🍚
It was Banging 😋🫠🫡🔥🔥🔥
Nice!!!
Great recipe. The only thing you forgot to mention was the measurement of the oysters that you added. How much did you add?
I used 2 dozen oysters. You can adjust that pretty easily. Enjoy!
@@ChiliPepperMadness Thanks. I made it today after harvesting fresh oysters using the same recipe in the video. I used jalapenos and added extra Franks red hot sauce. Outstanding flavor on a cold winter day!!

Could you use ghee instead of butter?
Absolutely. Enjoy.
Great video as always; Is there a substitute for oyster liquor?
Thanks. You can use clam juice, which you can find bottled, or some seafood stock. If you have none of those, a bit of chicken stock can work. Let me know how it turns out for you. Enjoy!
Thank you, I had this same question!
Me going through my refrigerator and thinking yes, I have this, I have this lol
Haha, nice! On the menu soon then! =) Enjoy.
It was delicious! This would be a perfect soup for those cold, winter days.
Hey Mike loving the recipes! Is there a good substitute for milk like unsweetened almond or oat maybe?
I think this would be interesting with oat milk. Let me know if you find a good substitute you enjoy!
THANK YOU! 🤤 (I use keto friendly Heavy Whipping Cream... spikes blood sugar much less than lowfat milk) 😊
You're welcome, enjoy!
Can I use almond flour to roux?
Yes you can, though it may not thicken as much.
Thank you. I decided to use cream cheese. It was absolutely Ahhhmazing! Not too thick but great just the same! Woohoo! You rock.
Fantastic. Happy to hear it!
Try Carolina reaper. It has excellent flavor. Not flowery, not dark like bhut jolokia.
How much canned oysters?
Use an 8-ounce can, though you can easily double it if you'd like.
Hell yeah!
I thought we couldn't boil the milk.
Got the ingredients to make this but now having difficulty getting back to the printed recipe.
Susan, it's here: www.chilipeppermadness.com/recipes/oyster-stew/
Just add raw scallops and boil??
Yes! If you're using raw oysters they'll get cooked during the boiling.
@@ChiliPepperMadness thank you 😊
I'm coming over
Haha, I'll make an extra batch for you! =)
You didn't say that the jalapeno should have seeds removed, but the chopped pepper didn't look like there were any seed.
You can remove them if you'd like. Cuts the heat.
I do the same with potatoes
🙏😎
😎
👍👍👍👍👍👍
Someone needs to figure out cambell soups oyster stew recipe
Is it good? Never tried that one.
@@ChiliPepperMadness yeah it the best that I’ve had by far.. Nd they took it off the shelves for some reason
@@ChiliPepperMadness I’ve been trying to find other oyster stews that would be the same but there not
@@boxing4life410 I hope you're able to duplicate it one day!
I added bacon at the end when I added my oysters.
Bacon! Nice. I love that. Hope you enjoyed it.

Dude, that's a nice sauce for pasta. But a Stew needs more...like veggies...like potatoes...
He got a little Mexican in him
I do love Mexican cuisine, that's for sure.
Way too hot 🥵
Nah. Just a little spicy.
Fresh oysters are better
Yep.
