From heartwarming sappy, to adventurous, to happy, and finally to soothing and satisfying like if saying 'goodnight everyone', all in a 6 minute span... a lot of different emotions felt in just the end credits, after experiencing a lot of that during the movie itself. 5:06 a slight hint at the 1990 Universal Pictures logo music Horner would compose two years later.

It was the favourite film of my fiancee, and watching it always reminds me of her 😪 The lyrics of the song encourage us to have hope and tell our story, but it's hard to do so
When I was ill as a kid, my mother used to sing this to me when I was ill. It helped me sleep every single time. I'm now approaching 40, I'd give almost anything to have her sing to me again.
I saw this movie when i was a little kid, and at the end credits I used to think Littlefoot's mom was singing; growing older I realised it was none other than Diana Ross.
I think i was 7 when i first saw this...Im now 42 and Ive recently become a father. Played this to help my little girl fall asleep ...took me back to that innocent time as a child . And now seeing her...im so filled with emotions. I just want to be the best i can be for her.🥺
Growing up with the direct-to-video sequels and seeing the commercials of them, I kinda knew what they all were. But back in 2012, we were at a library and they had VHSs, and they had the original Land Before Time movie. Nothing else to watch, I decided to borrow the original since it has a TV on the case. After watching the movie, I had no idea what I was expecting. It wasn't a musical, it was mature, it was scary at times and it was so damn emotional. But I absolutely loved it. And it's actually one of the few films that makes me ugly cry just for how emotional it is with the message of grief, and being independent on your own, and the fact that the actress who voiced Ducky died shortly after this movie came out. On top of that, the movie has such a melancholy feel about it. It's colorful, but it's very dark colors. But it's still such a beautiful film that should never be forgotten.
It's insane how different this movie is from It's sequels. The sequels are bright, cheery, and musical. This movie is dark, gritty, and pulls no punches. Only during the end credits do we get to hear a song, and it's one of the most beautiful songs of all time. The sequels are good, but nothing, and I mean NOTHING, beats the original.
I don't consider any of the sequels canon. Don Bluth had no say in any of them and boy dose it show. One thing I love about the orginal is how it didn't talk down on kids. It It even put some themes and messages you understand better as you get older. It taught some valuable life lessons in a way that didn't feel condescending or dumb down. As a result when we were kids this felt like a real grand adventure with intense drama that we still enjoy as adults. The sequels dumb everything down. You can tell the people who got the rights took one look at it and thought: "oh its just a kids movie about talking dinosaurs so we don't need to take this seriously because kids are stupid". If any of sequels were the first movie Land Before Time would've been forgotten.
Coming across this childhood classic as an adult gives me a whole new perspective regarding Littlefoot's family. You realize how heart wrenching it would have been like for his mother to lose him if the Sharptooth killed him instead. She had already lost her other eggs when when Littlefoot was the only one to make it. His presence was such an impact to his family because he at least guaranteed another generation of his kind to repopulate. It's hard to imagine how his own grandparents would have reacted if that were to have happened.🥺
@@katelynthewhitewerewolf6376 One thing to consider in his mother's perspective is the unknown background of her husband. She and her parents possibly believed he wasn't alive since he was absent for so long before and after Littlefoot's birth. It also did not look as if she met other long necks during the migration to the Great Valley. Even if she was able to conceive a whole new litter of offspring, she probably would not have it in her heart to "replace" Littlefoot, especially since she remembered how her parents reacted to the day of his birth.🥺💔 Who knows how heartbroken they would have felt if she reunited with them without Littlefoot by her side.🥲
@@katelynthewhitewerewolf6376 And keep in mind how Rooter came around to give off meaningful advice shortly after the death scene. It's unimaginable how Little foot's mother would have reacted because losing a child has a completely different meaning compared to a child losing a parent. Littlefoot at least had his grandparents to look up to as his parental figures. His mother, however, would not have someone to look after since there weren't any other children. Although a much later sequel revealed Little foot's father had been alive the entire time, there's no way of telling how he would have reacted if he reunited with his wife only.🥺😞
@@katelynthewhitewerewolf6376Also, the sequel where Littlefoot and his friends travel to the land of mists to retrieve the medicinal herb for grandpa would have turned out completely different if his mother was in his role.😢 There's no way of telling how she would have reacted to witness her father being so ill. Especially when you remember the sweet song the grandmother sang.😔

This song prevented me from killing myself when I was 12. I’m 25 now. “Live your story” is the biggest thing from this song that gets me. And “there is a fountain.”
I was obsessed with the song in high school. But I already loved the song a little while before then. I’m 31 and I remember coping with suicide thoughts. Most of the time, they were just intrusive thoughts. And they still are most days. The song made me appreciate Diana Ross!
Somewhere in 1989-90, my dad brought home a VHS casette given to him by an office colleague and friend of his for all of us to watch. It was "The Land Before Time". At that time I was just 4 or 5 years old too small so I didn't think much of the movie. But when I watched it a few years later as a 12 year old kid, it was so overwhelming I just couldnt stop crying. Even the mere thought of some scenes would bring me tears - some sad and some happy and for days after, I just slept beside my mom at night holding her tight like a little baby like I never wanted to ever let go! Decades later as a 36 year old in 2021 when my mom was hospitalised in the ICU (for a critical condition which she has since recovered from), I just held her hand tightly while she was asleep and momentarily thought of the scene where littlefoot's mom passes away and I just wept uncontrollably! This movie, if anything, has brought me closer to my aged parents, even now as someone nearly on the brink of 40! That said, its a wonderful movie, a must watch for kids and adults alike especially in today's hate-filled world. Watch it. Spread love! Spend time with your loved ones dear people, cherish every moment and every living minute with them and make memories when you can! Don't know what you've got, till its gone!
Man, I love this song. I love Don Bluth's films! I met Don Bluth last week at Toon Con and he was telling me about how he was criticized for the dark tones in his films, but he wanted to share stories of loss and make people feel something. I could tell he was religious and he wanted to let people know through these stories that although, people die, it's just another stage our souls go through. This film felt like a beautiful sad dream for me and hearing this song always brings up this somber feeling within me. It reminds me the beauty of life. Well, that's how I feel.

Saddest movie to watch as an adult the weirdest thing is when I was a kid I never cried due to not fully understand what was going on but as I aged it really made me cry. I used to watched this movie with my sisters and my parents before they divorced it really made me depressed every time I watch it because I miss my family together my parents didn’t get to make peace and contact each other just to check in on each other. I will forever cherish those happy memories even if it makes me sad 😢
I always got goosebumps when the leaf for the Bluth Studios logo touched the water and the flutes, piccolos, glockenspiel and triangle played that note and then the low strings played over the Amblin logo.
For some reason at the time when I watched it when I was very young, I always thought it was a little foot's mother that was singing this song at the end

Loved it when I was 5, loved it when I was 13, still loving it now at 33. Such a great movie and such an incredible ending song able to invoke emotion.
If this is not a contender for possibly the most beautiful song ever, I don't know what is. This song is so integral to my childhood.
This carries so much nostalgia for me. I adored this movie when i was little and all my life random bits of this song have just randomly began playing in my head.

Dreams are for weaving
Wonders are waiting to start
Live your story
Faith, hope and glory
Hold to the truth in your heart

Must learn how to bend
Seek out a star
Hold on to the end

There is a fountain
Washes our tears all away
Words are swaying
Someone is praying
Please let us come home to stay
If we hold on together
I know our dreams will never die
Dreams see us through to forever
Where clouds roll by

When we are out there in the dark
We'll dream about the sun
In the dark we'll feel the light
Warm our hearts, everyone
If we hold on together
I know our dreams will never die
Dreams see us through to forever
As high as souls can fly
The clouds roll by
For you and I

From heartwarming sappy, to adventurous, to happy, and finally to soothing and satisfying like if saying 'goodnight everyone', all in a 6 minute span... a lot of different emotions felt in just the end credits, after experiencing a lot of that during the movie itself.
5:06 a slight hint at the 1990 Universal Pictures logo music Horner would compose two years later.
This song, along with the song of the lion king sung by Elton John, reminds me of my beautiful childhood... Of a beautiful childhood in the nineties when my grandparents were still alive,My younger brother who died in 2019 was still alive. The magic and memories with them are still alive and these songs make me remember those golden times ❤️
Does anyone else feel unbearable sadness when hearing this just genuinely 😢
It was the favourite film of my fiancee, and watching it always reminds me of her 😪
The lyrics of the song encourage us to have hope and tell our story, but it's hard to do so
When I was ill as a kid, my mother used to sing this to me when I was ill. It helped me sleep every single time. I'm now approaching 40, I'd give almost anything to have her sing to me again.
Last time I listened to this I was in tears and wished I was a kid again but 5 years later I would not change a thing 😊
I just want to be the best i can be for her.🥺
And you will be best you can speaking life into life.

Me three while I went to bed. I truly like this song and it's very beautiful, sad and happy at same time.
The last sequel I saw was The Stone Of Cold Fire. But now that I’m older, the sequels don’t exist to me.
The complete ending to an outstanding movie and film score .
So thankful for my mom giving me this as kid ❤ also as a 30+ still love it 😀
I can relate as someone who discovered the movie as a Blockbuster rental. Except I’m lucky I still live with my mom and dad
@@RegularInvader
Yeah and Littlefoot had siblings who didn't survive either because their eggs were smashed.
Although a much later sequel revealed Little foot's father had been alive the entire time, there's no way of telling how he would have reacted if he reunited with his wife only.🥺😞
@@RegularInvader
Yeah it's a good thing his mom died instead of him
@@katelynthewhitewerewolf6376Also, the sequel where Littlefoot and his friends travel to the land of mists to retrieve the medicinal herb for grandpa would have turned out completely different if his mother was in his role.😢 There's no way of telling how she would have reacted to witness her father being so ill. Especially when you remember the sweet song the grandmother sang.😔
Don't throw your life away because others tear you down.

This is one of my childhood movies. Whatched this with my little sister (2 years younger than me) when we were kids. Dispite our parents resentment at each other they still hade love for us. Ehatchwd this when we stayed home from school sick with my grandpa. He lost time against life last year in october. Now my beloved lil sister is having a child in august. Time goes by. Today heard this I still shed a tear 🫡

If you do not show the darkness, you'll never appreciate the light.
My favorites of his movies are Thumbelina and Pebble And The Penguin
