This video was a god sent. I am just mixing a post punk song in cubase and almost forgot about these tools. If you have too much plugins you tend to forget some. Especially the ones within cubase. Most of the time the internal plugins are all you need.
well you just taught me I need to use my stock plugins more hahaha, I do love using the tub but Magneto I don't use at all and I'm going to now. Quadrafuzz is one I haven't dove deep into yet but it's on my list for this week. thanks for the tips as always and I use the channel strip all the time it's my go to for mixing stuff nowadays and then I use inserts for flavor and effects mostly now as the modules in the channel strip are amazing
Friend, this tutorial also great as usual, very easy to understand, keep viewers attenion right through the full video, thanks for educating us in this way, a great job, go for the gold !
Thank you. I have been using Yamaha DTXpress for drums on my recordings. Coundn't get them to fit in the mix well. You could hear them but the sound wasn't pronounced. With your suggestions they finally came into focus. Vocal trick worked well too.
Awesome & thanx Dom. It was like someone had cleaned a dirty window when you activated them all at the end. Adding dirt to make it clean-bizarre!! Bass guitar sounded great with magneto. :)
Nice demonstration of the native Cubase stuff you can use to make a good mix. Just to be fair, the Channel Strip uses the same plugins you can find in the selection for inserts / dedicated plugins. Compressors, Saturation, Noisegate, Limiters are just the ones (same algorythm) you will find in the plugin set. But! This is not a bad thing! It means you even have more than 8 "inserts" on each channel when you are using the CS and you are not making any compromise in quality! Also, CS allows you to freely change the signal chain just by drag & drop :)
Nice systemized tutorial. Love Frequency technique it's really neat when you look for natural vocals or acoustic instruments. Changing shelfs amplitude of Distroyer was new for me as well. While was using it many times )
This Song remembers me Eddy Money.... Great Tutorial again Dom, it's such a pleasure to see you beeing so happy with Music... Your enthousiasm is a tutorial in itself.... It would be nice if you make one day a surprise visit at Greg's Hangout... Many Cubasers there would love it...
Thanks for everything you are doing for the community! We appreciate you!! Question: What is that 8 channel mixer that is right next to the CC121? Are you still using it and did you like it? Looking to expand the functionality of my CC121 with some faders and saw this video. Thanks in advance and keep bringing the heat!!
I miss Quadrafuzz from SX3 😢 Can't get it on Pro 11. I found VSTbridge worked with a super old version. But that blue edition was just magical on EDM bass lines.
Hi can anyone help? loving doms tutorials just having a problem with step 4 and the frequency plugin it doesnt have the mid/side option only mono do i need to do something to turn tracks to stereo first?
I think Dom is a great guy, but since he had to give up his favorite headphones to wear Steinberg headphones, I don't think he can give an unbiased opinion lol. I think Soundtoys offer a demo so you can try (and a sale this week if I'm not mistaken)
I have Cubase Pro and all the plugins that you mention, they are simply the best in their class, nothing in Cubase compare to them. But all the Cubase plugins in this video are really nice and of really good quality. You can do great things with them.
@@skeletonmodel hehehe there’s a good reason why I am using these headphones on the videos: they isolate incredibly well. With the LCD-Xs being open back I had huge leaking in my microphone and it was really bugging me. It’s not because it’s the Steinberg channel- you will see a lot of videos here that I’m wearing the LCD-Xs :) plus these headphones sound really really good :)
They all have different colours! Black box sounds completely different to Quadrafuzz and Decapitator has a very distinct colour too. It’s like having a bigger palette of colours to make a painting. Always good :)
Better yet, why does this guy create videos for himself to watch and learn strange tips from, when he could just talk into a mirror like I do? The world is going crazy, I swear.
Why you need thirdparty-plugins when you use Cubase Pro? Cubase's stockplugins are absolutely amazing these days! ❤ Hint: Cubase Maximizer in Modern Mode sound exactly like Waves L2... e.g.
5 ways to warm up your tracks 1:- Lynx, Antelope, Apogee Converters with Antelope 10mx Clock 2:- Using Hardware Analog Gears Like SSL, Neve, Manly, UAD, and Teletronix in Mixing and Mastering 3:- Use a summing box from Neve, SSL, or a Summing Console. 4:- Stop expecting warmth from software 5:- You know I am telling the truth so stop wandering around and find a way to do what I said.
For my taste I liked the “all bypass” version. That’s legit, hard hitting, unprocessed rock. Too much DAW fiddling and it starts to become disposable pop-rock.
Steinberg owe you their future dude. Best tutorials ever
Wow, Dom is killing it with these tutorials! This is definitely going to change my game.
Thanks Dom! These have been a heaven sent. Easy enough for me to comprehend.

Great video, thank you!
Have discovered all this myself but it's great to have some confirmation that I'm actually doing it right.
Thanks.
Awesome video

Dom breaks it down so simple!
Another gold tip from you, thank you so much
Great tips! And a really cool song
Awesome & thanx Dom. It was like someone had cleaned a dirty window when you activated them all at the end. Adding dirt to make it clean-bizarre!! Bass guitar sounded great with magneto. :)

Nice to see you giving mixing ideas for rock mixing! Can you do Metal on a future video?
Thanks Dom! great stuff as usual :-) I like Squasher too, the "vocal Magic" preset.
Thanks man! Also good voice :-) The treated version almost reminded me of the
Rival Sons' Electric Man vocal sound
Thanx

Damn good singin' Dom.
I miss Quadrafuzz from SX3 😢 Can't get it on Pro 11. I found VSTbridge worked with a super old version. But that blue edition was just magical on EDM bass lines.
What fun! Thanks, Dom. So - anybody out there have a hardware Craig Anderton Quadrafuzz that they built?
I didn't even know this existed. Its now on my want list that I'll never own any of 🤣
Hi Dom what chair do you use?
Cool stuff..Can you make a video how to gain stage all tracks at once please? Not one by one.
nice
All of this plugins are good of course. But, what about one small and usefull plugin from the box - Pitch Shifter? I guess Cubase doesn"t have it.
Hi can anyone help? loving doms tutorials just having a problem with step 4 and the frequency plugin it doesnt have the mid/side option only mono
do i need to do something to turn tracks to stereo first?
Good day mate. Same goes to my chill and beast of hotshots in the buss of the world will begin to affect
How do these compare to radiator/decapitator/Blackbox to you?

@@skeletonmodel Well, this is the official Cubase channel. You don't wear a McDonald's cap when you work for Burger King.

Isn´t that Song the Peter McKinnon Intro Song?!?
awesome Dom thanks
Olé !!!
PS. Nice vox, Dom! :)
☺️☺️☺️
I use Cubase Elements, so no Quadrafuzz, no magneto, :-(
1:30 1 Quadrafuzz
3:58 2 magneto
5:45 3 da tube
7:50 4 Frequency EQ
11:00 Destroyer
Hi sir
Chopper using please 7/8 6/8
Why would you warm up tracks with plugins when you have SSL Fusion, Neve MBP and HG2? Very strange to say the least.
Better yet, why does this guy create videos for himself to watch and learn strange tips from, when he could just talk into a mirror like I do? The world is going crazy, I swear.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
if you have the black box and the saturn 2 why do you need stock plugins anyways?
Why you need thirdparty-plugins when you use Cubase Pro? Cubase's stockplugins are absolutely amazing these days! ❤
Hint: Cubase Maximizer in Modern Mode sound exactly like Waves L2... e.g.
because he gets paid by Steinberg and he's trying to get the best out of those crappy cubase plugins.
hey Dom, the barbers are open now ;p

Hair down is a great look, Dom! The earth must be slightly heavier from all the pandemic hair.
A little bit of dirt improves many styles of music
hmm, that midi drums choice doesnt fit in this guitar track, it doesnt sound good what ever you do.. :/
Super useful thank you 🙏
