It’s always fun to open them up little by little. Took me about 50 booster packs to try and pull a gold card Arceus VStar. It’s crazy…. Love your content btw on your opinions.
Tapping the toploader on the desk at the end of the video it's a must in your pack opening videos. As someone who mostly listens only to the audio because I am working while playing the video, it would feel as an incomplete experience if we didn't get the tapping 😂
I’ve opened exactly 168 packs of CZ because I have 1680 cards logged for this set lol. Yes, I’m extra nerdy and catalog EVERYTHING. I have the base set in normal and reverse foil twice over. Have SO MANY GG and V triplicates and I’m missing even more to have a master set 😢.
You can buy a thousand dollars worth of CZ product and not pull all the cards, that’s absolutely a possibility. Even if it’s a smaller set, you can end up with duplicates just as much as you can end up with new cards. If you are on a budget and want the collection, buy the singles. Hands down. Lightning doesn’t strike twice, you will hit some and others you will lose big. Buying the singles makes it so you’re always winning.
took me 2600$ of product to pull everything myself and that was probably a bit lucky. only about 3-400$ of extra cards which prices will continue to drop on

Yes sir those collection boxes are where it's at. Picked up the pikachu vmax and pulled the toxtricty gg, radiant eternatus, and the gold vstar palkia. Am excited aswell for SV.

Jake, today in Japan I bought VSTAR universe Giratina for $118 USD. I think that’s a decent deal. Do you see this card dropping in value before going up or do you think it can only go up from here?

I’m confused as to whether Scarlet and Violet will have their own set or if the English version will include the EX lists that I’ve been seeing floating around
Going back to the rarity composition of a pack, I still don't think it's the confusing. However, do you consider 2022 booster packs confusing? If you do, then I can get behind saying Scarlet & Violet is confusing. The Scarlet & Violet configuration is basically the same thing as the 2022 sets, just with an extra reverse holo. Because holo 2 is the old reverse holo slot where it can be reverse or gallery card) and then holo 3 is basically our rare slot that we are used to, where it can be Rare (well now just holo) to Secret Rare. So one common is just getting swapped out for another Reverse Rare.
I don't quite understand, why there isn't a booster box with just packs only? Why would I need like 10++ empty ETB box, dices, counters, guidebook, empty plastic pack holder etc. So much rubbish generated. I'm out of ideas how to reuse or recycle them.

I would imagine the new pack setup will make holos extremely cheap. So like Sableye for example is about $2 right now, but if that came out in Scarlet Violet it may be $0.50 or less
You make good points but the singles prices will continue to decrease whereas the sealed product prices will stay the same or potentially increase. I will still open crown zenith because it is fun but purely for set collection purchasing singles/lots is the way in the long run
I got girantina on my 4th etb, out of 10. I should've stopped! & kept the rest of the etbs sealed... But I got greedy & didn't really hit anything else, on the rest of the etbs. Lol
I collected a full set of Crown by opening packs. I believe I spent roughly 2600$ to pull everything myself for fun. I believe I only have about 300-400$ of extra cards. You are looking at probably 800-1000$ on top of the purchase price to try and manually collect a set these days with no guarantee of actually finishing the set. If I wasn't financially in such a amazing spot in my life I couldn't imagine the common collector having even a slight chance to pull this off. As a 31 year old gen one collector, the Pokémon company is clearly targeting my generation and not kids anymore it seems. I hope everyone gets some great pulls and enjoy crown and scarlet/violet at the end of this month.
I definitely got my fix from opening CZ. I would love to open more but I'm keeping the rest sealed and just going to buy singles now. Singles are at a good price too plus they might even go lower.
I couldn't agree more with pokemon packs having too many holo's and the fact that they moved the BEST one to the back of the pack, I 10000% agree with everyone that this is a terrible idea, the front and back cards have been proven to take the most abuse inside the packs. I'm still excited for the set, I think it will be fun to open.
I think the new pack design will be great. No more watching us reorganize cards to get the right pull experience. The rare cards won't get damaged at all, unless the pack itself will fully be screwed.
Buying singles for crown zenith is fine for a single card but it’s not a slam dunk strategy. 3 of my 12 etbs didn’t return my purchase price while my mini tins actually returned money cause I pulled two giratinas. I bought a single card Mewtwo vstar and that’s it. Crown zenith is valuebover value!
There is an exception to the quality issues.....Diamond and Pearl Great Encounters! Went through 1000s of my old cards a few months ago to looks for cards to grade, and about 75% of all cards that were of PSA 9/10 quality were from Great Encounters.
Jake you should be sleeving the hit cards as they come out i would not be comfortable buying cards from you you have to take more care looking after the top cards
He’s also just wrong about singles vs pulling packs. Any monkey can do the math and look at the atrocious pull rates for some of the cards. Guarantee he’s just going off of personal bias from his pack opening experience.
I took my son to GameStop to get his monthly pack with the 5 dollar reward from the Pro club. He pulled a Lugia V Alt. Art from the one free pack. He was so happy.

Crown Zenith is so fun to open. The trainer gallery adds a second set of chase cards and so many hits.

150 booster packs to pull Pikachu SR but you only spent $600 on products, $50 per ETB with 10 packs each, something's not adding up right here

The energy card is the last card in the pack so u can still do a card trick if u wanted too just one to the front

So far ive had far better luck with the boxes than i have with the etbs. Hits to packs ratio has been complete trash on the etb for me.

I opened 5 ETBs and only got 2 alt arts, and I got 5 doubles and 2 triples of hits. The least lucky/worst set I’ve ever opened.

More quality control can equal more waste from the company if they have to take somewhat bad prints out of the market. Not against qc.
