Good idea. Should only use VAR when using the 2 allowed challenges per team. I would not have the ref run to a screen, just allow the VAR ref to take the decision to save time.
Definitely a good idea, every match has 1,2,3 big mistakes in them, so to have a chance to overturn them and a fairer game is a no brainer, without impacting the games too much or causing too much time to be wasted.
I remember the ever-present furore over bad referee decisions before VAR. The world and his wife was calling for something to be done using technology. Off-side decisions, for instance. There was a lot of calling for the decision to be black & white - a player is either offside or on - so there could be no arguments, and when it's introduced everyone's up in arms about which body part(s) should be considered for the decision... which Bamford fell foul of only about 4 years ago IIRC. The biggest issue I have with VAR is not the cost, although installation & upkeep together with human resources is not cheap so clubs have another huge bill to pay. No, it's the 'clear and obvious mistake' caveat. I haven't watched any PL football since we were relegated, but the number of times people were wondering why something was not called out because it was deemed to be 'not the ref's fault' or not even looked at by VAR seemed excessive for the role it was proposed to have in the game. The TLDR: is that I'd like it to work properly, but it never will, and we're still going to suffer pi$$-poor decisions, VAR or not.
In Theory VAR is a good thing for football, it works well in Rugby League, but football there seems to be more mistakes in VAR, How this happens is beyond me watching replays on screen? But hopefully they can get it right. 🙏
Do the stats show VAR is working? The latest Premier League statistics show before VAR was introduced, 82 per cent of refereeing decisions were correct. Now, since VAR was introduced, 96 per cent of decisions are correct
@@leeds3331really then why do I constantly see constant mistakes var killed the game and atmospheres .it was brought in for the big clubs .I remember the days when it was touch n go for striker n defender if unsure the striker always got the benefit which made for a better game now if he's a cock hair offside with those stupid lines he offside get rid of it
"Leeds boss Daniel Farke's anger over 12 letters of 'apology' for referees' errors I have 12 apologising letters at home already during the season with offside goals and penalties not given. If we would have used VAR during this season we wouldn't be in the play-offs - we would have been promoted automatically.
@@leeds3331 at the end of the day blaming this and that for not going up last season is lame .if we hadn't of imploded and had a shit Xmas and the number of opportunities the other teams gave us but typical Leeds fluffed their lines then we would of been promoted not excuse of if we had var then we would of it's all hypothetical now .all we can think about is getting promoted this year and yes deal with some terrible refereeing decisions
Tennis and Cricket both use a similar system, and maybe others. I’m not interested in the minutiae that VAR deals in often, that someone’s toe was very marginally offside, or their body was leaning a bit more forward, or whatever. Investigating every little thing is ridiculous, and that’s what VAR does. Both tennis and cricket could have brought in a VAR system but didn’t. VAR sometimes raises issues that no-one much had even noticed! It’s constantly double checking everything. It often feels pedantic rather than helpful.

Don't want it .they can't get it right in the premier until.they do don't expand .sounding more like the NFL American football now

Joe they use this in the NRL it's nothing new to rugby league , your right about referees are holding the game to ransom. Jmo

No pal not for me. Just get on with the game referees do there best it's not an exact science look at where VAR has got us.
What a load of bollocks. Do not use us as a guinea pig. Leave the game alone. Var had already destroyed football. We don't need all this new bullshit.
I'm 100% against VAR. Refs should never be wearing a wire. Just my opinion.
