oxford owners are literal multi-billionaires, we arent poor by any stretch! its financial fair play that gets us
On Rowett as a no option short term hire, fine i guess it's better than whats left out there but he is not a long term solution. However look closer at his track record... manager since 2012.. never won a league, never won a playoff game, never got promoted from any level, made playoffs 1 season on last day, could not get Birmingham to win crucial games against other relegated teams and hence got Blues relegated. sacked 5 times. His honors? won manager of the month 1 time in 2012 and 1 time in 2013 both in league 2... that's it! Buckingham's resume already looks better. This is a caretaker mid table manager who hides behind sensible interviews and just tries not to get embarrassed on the pitch which is why he is so defensive. I feel for Des as he was a victim of his own success, overachieved to get Oxford promoted and paid the price which i feel the club should have given him the full season regardless. He got the team up against a lot of odds give him the chance to avoid relegation.
Just to clarify, Oxford’s 2 owners have huge resources at their disposal, possibly 3rd in the league behind Leeds and QPR. Both owners are multi-billionaires. How much they choose to spend/invest in the team is another question……
The Eisner's at Pompey are a similar story...
There is also financial fair play rules at play in the Championship.
@@garrybayliss1101 Yes, I agree. But my point is we’re not a pauper club.
Doesn't matter how much money they have we have to adhere to EFL rules which is why we have the smallest budget in the league. Yes it helps with the off field stuff like the training ground and new stadium but has no bearing on the league
Much as I am disappointed Des has gone, Gary Rowett has a lot of championship experience. Birmingham made big mistakes releasing him for a big name player who was rubbish in management. I wish Des very well and maybe he will be back when he has more experience. The club are ambitious and I’d be surprised if we don’t stay up. Although Des might have taken us down he might not have got us back up. We have to move on and once results pick up we won’t be looking back
I respect rowett as a birmingham fan .he will keep you up tactically solid boring style ...good luck oxford send awful plymouth down
Rowett is the boring, pragmatic choice. I can see why the club would be interested, but still feel sacking Buckingham is a mistake. Would be happier to have Buckingham stay, even if they get relegated
Absolute rubbish. Get rid of your sentiments for Des, fancy football...zero points relegation 😢
Hoof ball, not fancy football getting points.....hopefully staying up....we need to stay up😊
That’s fine for you. I’m just fed up he’s gone. Given no chance to turn things round. No disrespect to Rowett, but just feel flat we’re now going to be watching attritional football for the next few months. Even if Rowett keeps Oxford up, the board will sack him the moment he has a bad couple of results next season
@robertallen913 I'm sad that Des has gone, but, he couldn't stay for sentimental reasons...Oxford born...yellow through and through etc.
Our owners are intent for the club to succeed.

Mixed views on this as I like Des but if he wasn't a local lad and also a fan and had 1 win in 15 you would be screaming for him to be sacked
Let's be honest he's crap
lol
