As a phD student, I feel very very nervous and afraid because I should show a presentation about my project to English speaking teachers after serveral weeks later. To me, it feels like disaster. After watching this video, now, I think it is a challenge and I should overcome it. I think I will be stronger after complete the challenge. Thank you very much.
🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 00:54 🎭 "Fake it till you make it" - Act confident and sound confident in English, even if you don't feel confident. 03:09 🗣️ To sound more confident, control your voice volume, speak at a clear pace, and use full sentences. 07:38 🚫 Stop apologizing for your English; most people won't judge you, and it doesn't help. 11:45 🧩 Challenge yourself in speaking situations: easy, medium, and hard levels to build confidence gradually. 15:51 📝 Write down fears about speaking in English, then talk to others and see that reality is often more optimistic than your fears.
Hi Gina and Martin, It was a useful video, and it´s definitely helped me out to sound more confident, so thank you very much for that. About my advice to help people sound more confident, I´d like to tell you the following: 1. Study the phonemic chart closely and understand the difference between British, American and Australian phonemes. 2. Practice at least once a day, one specific tongue twister by every phoneme. 3. Try to repeat audio books or audio poetry, and record yourself at the same time. In my view, it is important because the majority of English learners do not understand the difference between graphemes and phonemes. Because of this, they are able to read and write, but can´t speak properly. I hope it´ll be useful. Kind regards, Mario
All things you said are happening with my English and I feel very lucky to find the key to solve it and make it better . Thanks so much for your helpful advice ^^
