These aren't really beginner tips but out of all 4 bottom actions you should always try to get star from mechs and enlisting. Enlisting is just simply the best bottom action giving you huge rewards 2-14 combat cards, coins, popularity and combat power. it's worth maxing even if your board gives 0 bonus coins from it. Mechs because there isn't going to be a single game where you aren't going to build mechs and they can give you up to 2 extra starts (4 if Saxony(Black)). Upgrades take too many turns and structures don't give that much reward so you shouldn't usually try to get star from them. after those 4 stars you should aim for worker start and quest/combat power/popularity depending on situation. These are my personal opinions and they have shown pretty good success so I thought that I share them. ( note that my experience comes mostly on 4 player games)
I agree enlisting is good, but I have had problems early game if I go hard for it and there is no coin reward! Will be covering the game for a few months so hopefully as I get more experience will become clearer!
My friend and I recently started playing Scythe, one important thing that (in my opinion must be added) is that players should watch for combat, if not careful players can get very very easily 2 stars from combat and end the game very fast. If we (all of the players on the board) play the game more passively some of them can reach 3 even 4 stars very fast, and then in next few turns combat could end the game immediately.
Thanks for the beginner tips as I’m a new player. Struggled through my first game so some strategy guidance is good. The game seems incredible though, in game design, art work and theme.
We are half way through our very first game which is at 2-players and I have been playing Produce TOTALLY wrong! I have been forgetting/didn't realise at all that I should be paying the top red square icons for every produce. In my head I had that as the cost just when producing more workers. Oops! And I had an objective that is along the lines of 0 mechs, 7 popularity and have a factory card...didn't even clock to build a tunnel to get off my starting area! Thanks for the tips😊
Some of these tips work, but some games are not even long enough for an engine build like a fast Saxony player with good objectives. I often wont get enlists with them or the right Nordic combo. Some combos for Crimea should do an 8 worker build.
@@neuralnetgames6540 check out the guides from FOMOF, they improved my game quite a bit. I dont play much any more due to the imbalance of the game, but I still like it. When I play I usually stick to the original game, no expansion
You forgot the most important tip. This is not a wargame, do not fight if it is not absolutly necesary or you are 200% sure you will win AND a 3rd player wont be able to get a free star out of you or your oponent.
Yes but other player(s) can easily get 2 fight stars from you if we have less mechs than others and if we are close to hex area where opponents mech can move.
ah see my game group says it that way too. I say it the way Jamie says it and I kept feeling like I was the crazy one ha. Not that it matters but they are men so they all look at me like I am the wrong one.
yes, but mostly near the end of a game, or just before we are in the "last phase" of a game, when we have 4 5 stars, and are deciding if we gonna go for workers star, combat star, or maybe even objective star. If we rush with workers without proper strategy (if we are low at the popularity, power, did all enlists, got 2 combat stars, upgrade) where we did not move workers across the map to control the territories, they only cost us power and popularity without gains.

Great tips! I lost last night because I wasn't synergizing with my board or connecting combos. Lesson learned!

I’m definitely familiar with Noble Knight Games - I’ve bought a lot of Mechwarrior game pieces from them over the years. And great video!
Scheduled to play my first game next week, thank you!
Great timing! Have fun and let me know how it goes!

I don't play the game but I like your channel. I at least "liked" the vid and commented.
And I truly appreciate it!

Fair, but with 8 workers you should really be an experienced player first or you probably won't be able to make it work...

Build your windmill as soon as possible ... it gives everytime you produce; just like having another worker...

Never played but looks cool
definitely fun as long as you like a euro style with very little luck

8 workers normally beets 5 at my table.
