      No worries at all, hope it goes well for you! The recessed manholes are satisfying once they’re done but they take time

    I had to watch twice too, first time was showing the missus the doggo 😂. Thanks though, am doing the same myself and good to see how it's done.

      There should always be a dog on the job to ‘help’ 🤣. Thanks, glad it helped, they’re quite nice to do but a fair bit of work.

    The dog and it’s teddy stole the show!

      Thanks for the double watch! Was such a lovely dog, would literally wait all day for me to throw the ball 🤣

    how much would you normally charge a customer to complete these kind of works? fitting a new style recessed manhole cover ? Im looking to do these similar works but with brick paving but unsure on the kind of labour cost

    • @SamDaviesBuilder
      @SamDaviesBuilder  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Honestly, I couldn’t put a figure on it for you as every job is different. There is a lot of work in these covers but I couldn’t tell you a cost, I’m afraid. Each job is priced individually as no two jobs are the same

    Am I right in assuming that these type of manholes are only for rodding purposes and not for surface water drainage?

    • @SamDaviesBuilder
      @SamDaviesBuilder  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      These type of manholes are for either

      @@SamDaviesBuilder but how will surface water get in when it's completley covered?

    • @SamDaviesBuilder
      @SamDaviesBuilder  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thelordisthespirit sorry I see what you mean now. This is just a cover so it can’t be used to drain water. I don’t know of a product that would do what you’re after exactly but the closest thing would be some sort of aco drain, maybe the ‘brickslot’ version

      Cheers Tom, always dread doing these as they can be fiddly but the end result is satisfying!

    I want to do this but my problem is that these recessed covers seem to be a standard size of 600x450mm and my current on is larger so have no idea how I can reduce the size of the hole

    • @SamDaviesBuilder
      @SamDaviesBuilder  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You could put a couple of lintels across the larger manhole to build off for the new manhole, 4x2” concrete lintels will be fine for that and cheap enough

    • @LewisFoster2024
      @LewisFoster2024 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Was thinking something like that but I haven't got much depth to play with as I already have the path which the new patio will join to and the cover is right next to it, around 80mm from current hole to finished height, so slabs are 32mm thick with about 20mm bed, so would only leave about 30mm to place concrete lintels 🤦🏻‍♂️
