    The shuttle water supply effort to maintain continuity in firefighting demands looked as though well trained or implement often (or both). Okay now the negative part which is not destructive criticism but hopefully constructive. Considering the fire appeared to involve flammable hazardous materials, it is disappointing and disturbing to see only 1 or 2 firefighters actually utilizing full PPE utilizing SCBA’s (regulators hooked to mask). Several other firefighters with gear and no air-pack or wearing only not utilizing air walking around dragging barrels (unknown product) in active fire suppression in hazardous contaminated environment. We cannot expect the next generation of firefighters to take serious that firefighters have a higher incidence of cancer, if those they look too (seasoned experienced fire officers) aren’t taking proper steps to protect ourselves and our family seriously. Again, not beating up on you! You guys come together and got the job done and done effectively.
    Thanks for sharing video!

    From what I have seen on other fire videos, fire hydrants must be in short demand. Where water is not available or is too far away to use, like the country or maybe this location, tankers are used to make a make shift pond of water, like this one. You can check on TH-cam for those other videos using a water pond. Another name is used for water pond, but the name is not coming to me. Great video. Thank you.

      Portable tank. It folds up lengthwise on the side of a tanker and two guys can set one up in a couple of minutes.

      In my area it's typically referred to as a "portable pond"

    what is the turn around time for a tanker to dump his load and return again

    • @CentralPASpotter
      @CentralPASpotter  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It only took about a minute to dump, I am unsure how long it takes to refill.

    • @ronaldrobertson2332

      Five minutes or more normally, depending on the capacity of the tanker. We had two on our department; an old 1,000 gallon and a newer 3,000 gallon tanker.

    • @dandunning4409
      @dandunning4409 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ronaldrobertson2332 The turn around time differs dramatically depending on how far the tanker must go to get water then return. No way to really say because of that most important factor.

    • @ronaldrobertson2332

      Shit, I know that. That's why we'd call mutual aid from surrounding towns outside of our district, which was two townships. They'd respond with people and their own tankers. We could set up quite a relay when it all came together.
      Yeah, I really miss it.
      Damn old age.

      @@ronaldrobertson2332 Well you said in your prior comment that it took 5 min normaly. I'm guessing that you meant 5 min to dump your load and leave. The original question was (how long does it take to dump your load then go get more water and return) that is what I was replying to. 11 years of service here.

    Why not use fire hydrants for this fire ?

    • @CentralPASpotter
      @CentralPASpotter  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      There aren't any hydrants close enough of this fire so the tankers would go to a hydrant, fill up and bring the water back.

      Ok i understand but, with a hose wagon ?
