    Cory Call from San Jose BMW walks through the BMW TFT display found on most BMW motorcycles. This is a complete video guide to help you understand all the different options in the TFT display and he gives great examples what each modes are used for.
    Did you know TFT stands for "Thin Film Transistor"?
    Call San Jose for all your BMW Motorcycle bikes & parts:

    Special thanks to San Jose BMW for letting me come down and shoot this with Cory Call!
    Cory is not only a friendly sales professional but also extremely knowledgeable of the entire BMW Motrorrad lineup. Cory just took 1st place in the West coast BMW GS Trophy qualifier and will be heading to Albania in September to represent team USA.

    That is an excellent tutorial of the TFT. Without a doubt the best on TH-cam. I appreciate your no nonsense approach. Often times people on TH-cam try to be funny or throw in unnecessary music. These are just distractions and a waist of time. Your explanation was well thought out, flowed easily and clearly covered the content of the TFT. Because of this I Subscribed to your channel.. Cory, just took possession of the very same bike you are using in this instructive demo! Had ordered it through my dealer here in Illinois and put about 400 miles on so far. It is surrounded by smaller 2 wheeled vehicles in my garage. Thanks for doing this kind of video. It's so great to learn these adjustments with your explanation. I love this bike even though I just started riding a couple of months ago at 71 years, 6' 7" tall, 255 LBS. I was initially so intimidated by it's size and weight but riding it has been very a very positive experience. I think I can flat foot everything out there. Thanks for doing this!

    This is an amazing explanation of the TFT. So many modes and features. The only question I have (not being critical at all) is the long-term reliability of all of the electronics? I really have no idea. Amazing number of features. I can definitely see how they would be useful on long trips both on and off the road. Thanks for posting this. So informative!! This is the level of detail all dealers should get into. Is there a follow-up video when using a Nav VI, TFT, iPhone and SENA?
    I'd like to be able to easily make and receive calls, get/see directions and listen to music streaming from my iPhone: Seems like there are two approaches. 1) using the BMW Connected App or Using the Garmin Smartlink. I don't know enough about either to make and education decision. Any direction you can provide is appreciated! Thanks!!

      Many thanks! We want to shoot additional videos around the Nav VI but haven't yet. The Bluetooth can get tricky for sure. I went with the Garmin Zumo XT and use my phone as the Hub. Meaning my Cardo pairs to the phone, bike pairs to the phone and Garmin pairs to the phone. I still get stuck in weird Bluetooth loops at times and have to toggle the connection. Thanks for watching!

    Fantastic clip. Would just like to point out or clarify that when using Dynamic pro the lean angle traction as well as wheelstand control you mentioned is turned off on the 21 & above models, not sure on earlier models. Basically think riding a GS fast in Dynamic pro or at any point is not wise if you want to stay upright, especially if you cornering hard with plenty throttle. I have ridden the bike to its limit often when cornering & the last thing you want is no lean angle traction or the bike trying to wheelstand out of a corner if you riding fast or at any point. Simply switch of traction with main button if you want to wheelstand in a straight line is my advice.

    • @BikesCameraAdventure
      @BikesCameraAdventure  ปีที่แล้ว

      We're happy this help you! Unfortunately we don't have a Nav video out yet. Connecting our phones is still a bit problematic at times. Sometimes things will just work, and other times you will spend too much time re-linking items to get them to work. Try connecting everything to only the Nav and not the TFT on the bike. This should help with Bluetooth connection. I know it's not ideal, but this seams less problematic.

  • @randomcrap763

    Overall I like the system, but there are a few things I feel should have been left out of the menus and on separate knobs... For instance the handgrip and seat heat, since I have heated seats I have to go into the menu then select what setting I want (Seat or grip) and then set the heat level. Takes my eyes off the road for longer then I am comfortable with. and since that is a control you will futz with often it should have been left as a knob. Likewise with the trip reset. When I get gas I reset trip A, and I use Trip B for overall trip stats. Hate having to navigate into menus to reset that.... otherwise I love the bike :) Thank you for the review, it was very informative!

    • @BikesCameraAdventure
      @BikesCameraAdventure  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Congrats on getting the best bike ever built! Tire pressure is a preference and it depends if you're carrying a pump or not. That said 20-25 PSI is pretty good all around. You can go lower if in soft sand if you're still having problems with traction.

    So where is actual tire pressure displayed? On the screen it shows only recommended pressure but not the actual one. I looked at this section with my engine running and actual tire pressure remained blank. The same with oil level - it shows nothing. Does it show oil level only when yoir level drops below a recommended one? Thanks.

    • @BikesCameraAdventure
      @BikesCameraAdventure  ปีที่แล้ว

      This bike was only sitting in the shop for the video. Air pressure will be displayed after a few rotations of the wheels. The oil indication is a little more tricky and will display "OK" but it has a weird algorithm. Meaning, you have to bring the bike to operating temp, put some miles on it and have medium throttle. There is a sight glass on the right side of the engine to see level.

    Tire pressure turns yellow when low… it will turn the screen red and warn you to stop immediately if the tire goes flat.

      @@BikesCameraAdventure It saved me. The tire didn’t look flat when I left home. The screen turned red warning to stop. I looked at the tire and didn’t notice anything. It still looked normal. I turned around and put the bike in the garage thinking there was some kind of sensor problem, until I checked the tire pressure. It was definitely flat with about 9 psi.
      I found the screw, plugged it and returned the pressure to normal using the bike’s pressure sensor.

    Does it air up your tires if there low

    • @BikesCameraAdventure
      @BikesCameraAdventure  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It won't, lol. But it will start flashing a message on the screen if the tire is loosing air. Which is awesome, and have saved me a few times.

    Why was the speaker's picture on the small screen instead of a zoom on the instrument switch buttons or the tft screen ? 😂

    Does anyone know if the GPS is updated for the 2023 models?

    • @BikesCameraAdventure
      @BikesCameraAdventure  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've not heard anything yet. BMW/Garmin is still making and replacing the Nav VI. They will keep replacing it every time it breaks.

    • @BikesCameraAdventure
      @BikesCameraAdventure  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The K bikes are getting GPS Nav built into their TFT. So I would guess that will be the next step for the GS family.

  • @specialandroid1603
    @specialandroid1603 ปีที่แล้ว

    Perhaps the most important thing to know about the TFT is how easy it can be stolen

    • @BikesCameraAdventure
      @BikesCameraAdventure  ปีที่แล้ว

      Really? Where do you live? I ride/talk with a lot of BMW people and I've not heard of one TFT stolen yet. I'm sure anything is possible, but out here in California they will just steal the whole bike.

I had missed that the music was up for some of it, but got it turned down eventually. I will return your money....oh wait, this is a FREE video :)

    The dash should be touch like a smartphone. Hey BMW, where the fuck are my dash skins? I should be able to have a choice of at least 5 different screen styles. At least make it open source so we can dev it. BTW why do you think we want to see you on screen? I want to see the bike, not you.
