    Thanks. If anybody has a meile dishwasher 10+ years old, and it doesn't drain well, the problem is very likely one (or both) of these two parts. The seals and gaskets will break down over time and water will leak out. The lower water pressure will make the heater pressure switch trigger an F11 code and supply/drain alarm. In my case it was the second part (sump cover) that was leaking from the snap in sub-component on top. This is easy to test by removing the sump cover and blowing air into one of the pipes while blocking the other pipe with your finger. If air leaks out, then you can be sure that water is also leaking out. My non return valve also has a bad gasket/O-ring, but I didn't neeed to replace that for now. Most of the water was leaking through the sump cover part.

      The same with mine eventhough I’ve replaced the no return valve as the Miele’s website advised. Before I ordered the sump, I had put 3 o-rings on it and it works!

  • @smurfiennes
    @smurfiennes 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    My Miele is older version than yours (2009). It has no lamp indicator about water level problem.
    When the program is finished, everything seems to be fine. But after several days, the water leaks in at the bottom.
    I thought it was the silicone/rubber on the non return valve was worn out. I’ve replaced that, but the problem still persists. I see that you also replaced the square part. I will order that part as well and hopefully the problem will get solved. Thank you very much 👍👍

      Update: thank you to Anthony from Finland 👍👍. I put 3 o-rings on the sump part (the square one) and it works! I skipped putting the o-ring that connect to the non return valve, because the valve is brand new. I used 2 different sizes of o-rings to seal the sump

    Hello from Finland, thx for the video. Very useful. Please note thanks to a similar video I was able to fix our F11 issue by replacing the O- ring gasket instead of buying the new part.
    I paid 5€ for a full box of 60pcs. And used one of them.

      Yes the black seals (O shaped) you can buy from all reputable car repair part company. I bought it from MOTONET.FI
      According to me, the F11 fault is initiated by the loss of pressure. The seal seems to be the issue ( but always check the propeller as you might find your issue there)

    • @smurfiennes
      @smurfiennes 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Do you thing these O ring gasket would fit on the seals of the 2nd spare part (the square one)? I still have to order it, but I’ve replaced the first spare part (non return valve). And the water is still seeping up over the time

      @@smurfiennes
      Hi,
      To my understanding, only the round seal could be replaced. If the square seal is broken… no easy solution unfortunately.
      The solution worked for 2 years. Recently the F11 error message came back.
      I tried to replace the seals as done a couple of years ago. No success.
      The hard plastic part was cracked and pressure was not 100% as it should be.
      Hence I had to order the original 2 spare parts from Miele and paid almost 100€ !!!
      Said that the machine was bought over 17 years ago, had to replace myself the soap dispenser (under warranty) and now the “water return valves” parts (2). And I expect the machine to run for another few years.
      These Miele dishwashers are still in my experience amazingly silent, efficient and easy to fill.

    Wow! Great video. I had a sewer clog and back flow issue in the sink --> dishwasher. Solved the clog, but it turned on the dishwasher only to find an error message. Tried cleaning everything, but nothing worked. I was about to call for repairs, but found this video. I hadn't notice this small valve. Pulled it out, gave it a good cleaning, and now everything is working fine. Thanks so much for sharing!

    I just watched your video and I fixed my dishwasher without having to replace the parts you describe. Trick is to flush out each of the three items in the sink with some good water pressure then reinstall them. Then turn machine power on and off to reset and change the usual program mode and start. You will see the red drain light flash and this is indicating it is draining out the existing water. The cycle will complete on its own then you simply change back to your usual program mode.

    This happens to us but there is always a chick pea stuck in there. It’s about once a month I open it up and poke the chickpea out. It’s a clear and obvious flow in the mesh drain - it doesn’t account for a piece of food like that. It’s really an odd thing for a design team to miss.

    Same problem. Replaced non return valve. Wasn’t the issue. Took out the drain pan. Bone dry. Replaced floater switch. Nope. Opened the controller board - bingo. The board burned out the plug (the 7 connector plug) connected to my drain motor. The motor refused to stop draining.
    Paid Miele $300 only for them to tell me it’s cost another $1200 to fix. Are you for reals??? They blamed me for user error. What the what??? How on earth do I burn out the controller board?
    Don’t buy Miele. They claim they have such great reliability but mine didn’t last 5 years. Trash. I threw out that $2300 paper weight and bought an LG.

      In my experience at least, Miele quality has dropped over the years. We moved into a house which had a 5 year old Miele dishwasher. We used it for another 13 years with zero problems and it was still going strong when we moved out. There was no need to change even a seal. Based on this, we bought a Miele dishwasher when we moved to a new place. Of course, the old model wasn't available, so we bought a newer one with similar features. The new one lasted about 8 years of light use, before the problems started. Initally I was able to fix it with just tricks found in videos like this one but now it's dead. It's a shame because it looks like new. We looked after it. Everybody is telling me that Miele repair is crazy expensive so I'm scratching my head what to do but if I buy a new dishwaser, it's unlikely to be Miele. Most other brands wouldn't be any better but cost much less so I can efford to replace it after a few years.
      I know that 2 dishwashers don't mean much in the way of statistics but this is my experience.
      We also have a slightly younger Miele washing machine and it still works but some indicator lights are not operating and the plastic window (front loader) is going a bit crackly. Fingers crossed...

    Is there a way to know that the f78 error is not due to these parts but because the pump/ electronics might be at fault? I tried cleaning up these parts. Everything looks good. The gasket/ ball bearing part in my model is more simplistic with the ball inside a L/ U plastic tube. So design wise looks quite robust. I saw the other part, water is flowing through between the two ends without leaking out.

    My dishwasher isn't that old, maybe 18 months and I am having problems, it won't fill with water and I have a hard time shutting the door. I never expected any problems with the dishwasher and I have had several. The lower rack the wheel fell off, now I have a difficult time shutting the door, and now it won't fill with water it just blinks at me, like a dumb blonde.

    We've got a miele dishwasher that has had 2 f84s in 5 years of use.
    Quite disgraceful for such a premium brand.
    Never buying one again.

      We have a washing machine (15 years old) and dryer (15 years old) and dishwasher (13 years old) from Miele.
      The dishwasher and the washing machine have been repaired once.
      So definitely happy here.
      you were less lucky then.

      @JanSV definitely. We also have a miele microwave which broke after 2 years. We have lots of Samsung and Philips white goods that have no problems too, and previous dishwasher was a smeg which lasted a decade then we free cycled it.
      Come to think of it our dryer is a Siemens but before that we had a miele.
      Guess what happened to it? Yup - broke beyond economical repair after about 4 years.
      Siemens been going about 6 without a glitch.

    I ment gaskets instead of washers!

      Indeed. Not what to expect from miele.

    How do I reset the dishwasher when the water leak sensor is still on is there an reset button?

    • @JanSV
      @JanSV  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I cannot find anything about a reset button in the manual. You can reset the dishwasher to factory settings.
      You can also try cleaning the filter, both in the dishwasher and in the water supply.
      Also to clean the non-return valve.
      regards

    Thank you very much for showing how to clean the Miele dishwasher, especially the part at 6:00. I did not know that and thanks to you I was able to clean mine out. My kids threw in some chocolate cake or something and here is a pic of how filthy that part was. I also ended up having a clogged wash impeller (not the drain impeller) and was able to fix that as well.
